Cannot set Windows 7 share contingent.

I have a ReadyNAS DUO with 2 TB drives RAID5 and Frontview shows 49% used. But in Windows Explorer in Windows 7, it shows only 781GB total size on each backup and media and these are the only two 12.5 GB free.

I checked Quota tab in the properties of each mapped drive, but the Show Quota Settings does nothing. I don't put anything into action in Frontview.

How can I use the rest of the storage?  How do share the Quota of work settings?

Thanks Jim

  • Error: The installer cannot set Windows XP required configuration information during the upgrade to Windows XP Home SP3 of Windows XP Pro.

Original title: OEM Windows XP Home SP3 update XP Pro

Here is a compilation of the messages from another forum regarding
    My problem:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

I'm trying to upgrade a Windows XP Home Sp3 OEM system to
Windows XP Pro. (There are a few Pro features
that are not available in the House I now need: (1) the files offline and
    (2) an add-on available for free to Onenote 2007, Top2onenote, requires a Pro).
I don't want a clean install, but an upgrade. I bought a Windows XP Pro
Upgrade CD on Ebay that was Windows XP Pro
Gold (v2002). I'm sure that's true for the following reasons:

It has been listed as an upgrade, but the CD is not labeled "Upgrade".
It seems very authentic with all Microsoft holography.
He came in the standard package of Windows XP (without box),
    and it was sealed.
The name of volume for the CD is WXPFPP_EN. The Internet,.
It is the retail of Windows XP Pro RTM (gold)!

Here are things I tried initially.

    (1) I tried to upgrade to Pro from the purchased CD. It is immediately
has refused to upgrade indicating the upgrade OS (Pro) is older than the
    installed OS (home)...

    (2) I read about "slipstreaming". "Slipstreaming" allows to integrate
a service pack with an earlier version of the operating system. I created a
upgrade XP Pro SP3 with Nlite slipstreamed CD image (and
Autostreamer later, but it made no difference) from the purchased CD
    and a file containing SP3.

After you burn the CD and start the upgrade
    (Windows installation), the upgrade process
    product through "information collection."
"Dynamic update" and "Preparation of Installation" with
no problems. My computer restarted and returned to
"Installation preparation". A progress bar called 'Progress '.
quickly filled to about 90% and the hanging system
at that time there for about 15 minutes.
Then, I got the following error message:

Setup cannot set the required Windows XP configuration
information. This indicates an internal Setup error.

This is where I am stuck. I had to leave the installation at this point.
My drive is starts raining and I had to restore a backup.

    (3) just for the heck of it, I formatted my hard drive and
reinstalled my original OEM XP Home SP3 OS (no clean up, no user file).
I immediately used my XP CD slipstreamed Pro to try one
upgrade to XP Pro and IT WORKED! I need to find out why the
properly clean XP Home OS upgraded to XP Pro but my pre-existing
(with the files users, drivers, etc..) XP Home OS does not level
    successfully to XP Pro.
    -------------------------------------------------------------

    Another post:

Yet once, today, I installed a new copy of OEM Windows XP Home Sp3.
I continue with installation of all the essential and the add-on
pilots (essentially all my original version). Then, I
set up a network connection and firewall. With this configuration,.
I ran the Pro XP slipstreamed SP3 CD. The upgrade to XP Pro
success (even if the upgrade not configured my graphics
card properly). I guess my current problem is either the registry,
the WINDOWS, some user file or parameter file.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

    Another post:

I made a file and the backup of the folder C:\Windows folder
on my system that is pre-existing (OEM XP Home Sp3). I also did a
separate the backup the State of the 'system' on my pre-existing system.
These are added my full image backup of her pre-existing
    system a month ago.

I did a backup image of my system (minimum fees OEM XP Home
SP3 with all the original installed drivers over a network configured
connection and a firewall configured). This system will upgrade
XP Pro with XP Pro SP3 slipstreamed CD successfully.

    Experiment 1:

I've restored my minimum system. I then restored the C:/Windows folder
and the State of the pre-existing system backup system. A startup
has managed (with a minor irritant). I had to activate Windows.
Then, I tried upgrading the slipstreamed XP Pro processor. He stopped
at the same place during the upgrade and gave the same error as before:

Setup cannot set the required configuration information Windows XP.
This indicates an internal Setup error.

    Experiment 2:

I've restored my minimum system. I then restored the system state only
the backup of the pre-existing system. After startup I was asked to
activate Windows, but answer Yes to the question would be to disconnect me
the system. I couldn't get connected to try the XP Pro upgrade.

    Experience 3:

I've restored my minimum system. I then restored only the C:/Windows
the backup of the pre-existing system folder. Once again, as in experiment 1,
the upgrade failed at the same place with the same error message.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Before the experiment 3, I hoped that 3 experience would succeed so I
could conclude that I had a registry problem. I'm not sure now.
I don't know what to try next. Take the minimum system and reinstalling
my files of the user is not an option that my hard drive has over 200 GB of
programs! If I restore all files and folders of my pre-existing
I would still have backup to restore a system state the reliable (read the registry).
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry for the length! If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate your responses.

    Thank you

  • Cannot access windows XP share from windows machines 7.

I have a windows XP computer on my home network that has long been used as a mass storage server. I have several terabytes in there and its all raid 1 and backed on the outside for added protection of data. Problem is that I looked suddenly being able to access its actions of any computer windows 7.  I have 3 other computers. Two of them are W7 and a laptop that works under XP. Stocks can still access the XP laptop, and both machines of W7 used to access it is fine. Two W7 machines stopped working at the same exact time. Telling me that its a setting changed on the server that W7 does not like, or an update to W7 was pushed down and changed the way which it networks.

I can still see the computer on the network, it is the ping requests by both IP and host name. Only, I can't access the share. It will ask for a password but then does not accept the credentials that I KNOW are good and are used to access it.   I have even gone now log on to the server "" and add a new user has given all the permissions tab share permissions and NTFS file permissions tab.  I even added "everyone" and "invited" both with all the permissions and it still leaves W7 access its files.

I'm actually fairly well informed in what I do and networking for a living, I don't have W7 in my workplace in order to not experienced with the nuances of how it networks.

I looked online for tutorials but they ALL seem focused on access to W7 "Home groups" of XP that is not what I need at all.

If anyone cares to know the solution is that the date on my server some how changed... apparently this prevent Win7 for authentication.

  • Comments Script Manager - cannot set Windows IP

I want to put the IP configuration on a Windows 2012 R2 VM, with the default settings, such as UAC active and powershell RemoteSigned execution policy. I used to run an account is a member of the local administrator group. The server is not in a domain.

I first used the sample scripts provided by GSM creators. Whenever I get the following error from the prompt:

    [2015-09-14 10:57:36.352] [E] C:\Users\VirtualisierungAdmin\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware74\vco_vmware101.ps1 :

       n,vco_vmware101.ps1

Definition of the unrestricted execution policy did not help.

I also created a batch script, which leverages the netsh interface ip set address command... command. I ran it directly with "Run Script prompt". But this method requires a prompt elevation and as far as I know, without a few tools third, you can't raise the shell yourself, that it contains.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance...

I came across a question similar to this.  I don't remember exactly what I did to solve it.  I think it could have been something like flipping the UAC on and outside.  Maybe it if it running just like staff once and later times after that he launched as administrator.  In any case, try to start the image and when you run the command window does show as a normal command window or an administrative command prompt?  Once the image shows the command line as high without saying specifically "Run as Administrator" I think that things will work.

  • Cannot set Windows Explorer to use Acrobat to open PDFs

I have CS4 x 64 Windows. Because Acrobat 9 crashed at least every 10 minutes and it has downgraded features (for example, you can no longer replace a page in the page window by dragging a page from another document and the applicant on the page number), I reinstalled 8. The only problem was that I had to start 8 before double-clicking in Windows Explorer to open a pdf file, if not 9 to start Windows. So, to take care of this, I uninstalled 9, but then disappeared the pdf printer. So, I did a repair of 8 installation. Now explore will NEVER open a pdf file. When I open with, or when you try to set the open with option of files / File Types, I select the version 8 of acrobat.exe, but just explore ignors the selection, as if I had simply cancelled out to... window. 8 works fine when I drag a file from the Explorer and drop it in Acrobat. I don't know there's a difficulty lurking somewhere thanks in advance and help!

I suggest to uninstall Acrobat 8 and then reinstall Acrobat 8.  I hope that it would create your file associations correctly.  Good luck!

  • x 34 predator - cannot set windows 10 to 100 hz?

    Hello!

Just got my X 34.  During the execution of the games in full screen, I am able to use the overclock of 100 Hz.

HOWEVER, as most of the other players, I like to run in full screen mode so I did not tab out / minimize the game whenever I want to do something outside of the game.

When running in full-screen mode my monitor reports that its operation at 60 Hz.

When I go into the NVIDIA Control Panel > Reso.ution change and try to change the default value to 100 Hz to 60 Hz, nothing happens when I hit apply.  No matter what I do, I can't get this parameter in order to be actually set at 100 hz.  It comes down to 60 Hz.

    Solved!

Click with the right button on bottom > display settings > Advanced display settings > select the x 34 > view the adapter properties > Monitor tab > change to 100 hz

  • Cannot get Windows XP Home Edition for a mapped network drive / share on a computer of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

I constantly tried to use the "NET USE" syntax to get a Windows XP Home system to keep & share mapped network drive on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit of the system and nothing I tried or worked on ANY blog. I can map the current network through made normal drive right click on 'My computer' and then provide a designation of drive letter with the correct path and have had great success using the function "connect using a different user name." However, even with the box checked to re-connect to the opening of the service is WORTHLESS! I made a lot of attempts to use the Net use syntax to create a batch file to overcome this non-functional raw application. I would really appreciate someone who actually had this issue resolved and work. I have looked at all the Windows files on the XP machine, searched the registry about a possible switch, which could make the necessary changes and have made all necessary changes on the Windows 7 system to accept the mapped network share. Help!

    Hello

Since you have a network with different OS' I hope that Win 7 is configured to run on asnetwork work.

If evry thing is configured properly it can be a problem of how your router keep information network. With the help of Staic DHCP or IP static on computers could help solve the problem.

Just in case you need to reconfigure your network.

    ---------------

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_name.jpg

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall isactive .

Since you have a network with Win 7 and the other version of Windows, you must configure Windows 7 as work network.

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

  • Satellite A30 - cannot set up the binding wireless modem

    Hello
I have a satellite a30. I just upgraded to broadband and cannot configure the WiFi wizzard. the modem is working perfectly thanks to threads, but cannot set up wireless despite my efforts! Please can someone help?
    see you soon
    Claire

    Hello

    What's the problem?
You are not able to see the thread or what?

Are you sure of the laptop and built-in wireless network card?

Remember that the WiFi card is optional on the Satellite A30 and not all models includes the Wlan miniPCI card
    Thanks for posting more details!

    PS; If the laptop supports a WLan card internal, you should check only that steps;

-Check if the WLan adapter is enabled on the laptop. Activate the switch on the side of the laptop and the FN + F8 key combination!
-Check if the windows own WLan configuration is marked
-Be sure that you use the right WLan encryption and whether encryption is supported by WLan modem (router) and wireless network card
-Check if the standard 802.11 WiFi, B or G is accompanied by WLan modem (router) and wireless network card
-Make sure that the router MAC filtering option has been disabled!

As you can see all of these options are important to connect to the wireless LAN.

Do some basic cleaning and updates that may resolve your problem (also - check your time and date - as well as your setting time zone...)

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

Cleaning the components of update on your Windows XP computer

While probably not 100% necessary-, it is probably a good idea at this time to ensure that you continue to get the updates you need. This will help you ensure that your system update is ready to do it for you.

Download and run the MSRT tool manually:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx
(Ignore the details and download the tool to download and save to your desktop, run it.)

    Reset.

Download/install the latest program Windows installation (for your operating system):
    (Windows XP 32-bit: WindowsXP-KB942288-v3 - x 86 .exe )
(Download and save it to your desktop, run it.)

    Reset.

    and...

Download the latest version of Windows Update (x 86) agent here:
    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91237
... and save it to the root of your C:\ drive. After you register on theroot of the C:\ drive, follow these steps:

Close all Internet Explorer Windows and other applications.

    AutoScan--> RUN and type:
    %SystemDrive%\windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe /WUFORCE
    --> Click OK.

(If asked, select 'Run'). --> Click on NEXT--> select 'I agree' and click NEXT--> where he completed the installation, click "Finish"...

    Reset.

Now reset your Windows with this FixIt components update (you will use the aggressive version if given a choice):

    Reset.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know usingGoogle (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
