Cannot sign application-unable to find signature keys

Hi, I received a file .csj of the RIM, but I can't use it because the signing tool requires the .csi file.

When I try to create key using java-jar SignatureTool.jar

Messages

The system requires a .csi file or .cod... the program assumes that the extension is .cod

Generate a private key

request password

generation of key...

the file extension does not match... coming out

What should I do?

I'm also confused do we have to compile the .zip files using this key? Compilation of the said process "don't sign application-unable to find signature keys.

Thank you

Ooops I was testing with key playbook, csi works for smartphones.

  • Cannot connect widget - unable to find signature keys

About 1 year ago, I installed Eclipse and plugin BB to develop java applications of BB. I had bought and installed signature keys and was able to sign the apps very well at the time.

Then, I want to write a 'widget' using the new (for me) web plugin for eclipse. The only way I could get that work was by installing the all-in-one "BlackBerry Web plug-in in Eclipse" (the package that has the correct version of eclipse plugin extension). The only problem is that I can't sign widgets.

So, in summary, I have two versions of Eclipse on my computer:

    1. a version with the blackberry java plug-in for making java applications (that I could sign)

    2. the version with the blackberry widget plugin to make apps widget (I can not sign)

The error I get from the BlackBerry Web/Widget to eclipse version when I try to sign my widget is:

Cannot connect widget - unable to find signature keys

Do I need to import the key somehow (wherever they are) of the old version of Eclipse for the 'new' or perhaps reinstall?

    Or even buy them?

Note: I still have the original files of .csi 3 If this is useful

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...

Thank you for your response. I had sent dev support and received the following response (which is essentially the same thing you said):

Please contact BlackBerry Application Development Support.

When you install your signing keys, first they are only registered with a JDE 1. Specifically, most recently installed JDE on your machine. Following these steps, you should be able to activate the privileges of your signature for all d located on your computer:

    (1) locate your signing keys by searching your computer for sigtool.db. You can find several files of sigtool.db, but you are looking for the sigtool.db that, if opened with a text editor, you see references to all three signatories (RBB, RRT and CPR) as follows:

#The file of database containing information to request signatures.
    #[DATE]
    RBB = [CLIENT_ID] http\: / /www.rim.net/Websigner/servlet/BBApps
    RRT = [CLIENT_ID] http\: / /www.rim.net/Websigner/servlet/Runtime
    CPR = [CLIENT_ID] http\: / /www.rim.net/Websigner/servlet/CryptoRIM

You can find this file, go to the next step if we can deliver a set of replacement of signature keys, free of charge.

    (2) COPY the 4 following four files in the same folder as you find the sigtool.db file in:
    -sigtool.db
-sigtool.set (if this file does not exist, it is good to ignore it).
    -sigtool.csk
    -SignatureTool.jar

    (3) If you are using Eclipse 3.5.1 or more, there is a shared folder where you can PASTE your signature files, by default:
    C:\Program Files\Eclipse\plugins\net.rim.ejde\vmTools

If the vmTools folder does not exist, you will need to PASTE the 4 four files for each component pack individually, by default:
C:\Program Files\Eclipse\plugins\net.rim.ejde.componentpackx.x.x_x.x.x.x\components\bin (where x.x.x_x.x.x.x is the version of the component Pack.)

If you use BlackBerry JDE, please note that there is no shared folder. You will need to associate each individual JDE with the privileges of your signature and PASTE the files in each associated BIN folder:
C:\Program Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE x.x.x\bin (being the JDE version x.x.x.)

Finally, if you are using BlackBerry Widgets, you can PASTE the files in the next BIN folder, by default:
    C:\Program search in Motion\BlackBerry Widget Packager\bin

By copying the files of four 4 and sticking them in the BIN of your d files, you copy your signature to these can thus privileges. Please note that this approach will allow the privileges of signature for all on a 1 d machine, but will not work for d on other machines; signature keys cannot be installed on 1 machine.

If you have any questions about the process described above, feel free to contact me.

  • Cannot sign the application - cannot find the signature key file: author.p12

    Hi all.

I have seen this error on several messages in the forum, but none of the suggested corrections works for me.

I am signing my App BB10 ready to be distributed. It draws very well and I also installed the two relevant files of the LSB and followed the registration procedure. The author.p12 and other files exist in %HOMEPATH%\AppData\Local\Research In Motion

However, when I try to run the following commands, it fails. I also tried to use the graphical help of BlackBerry Tablet OS and I get the same error.

The only thing I noticed is if I run: echo %homepath%, the result is:------. I can't change what I am on Windows 7 on an Active Directory domain and any changes made to these environment variables does not stick.

Is there a way to specify the path to the author.p12 file? Help, please! The output is below:

    C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK 1.0.4.7>bbwp C:\Proj\App\Deployment\BlackBerry\build\MyApp.zip -g (password) -b 1 -o C:\Proj\Resources\CodeSigning\BlackBerry\BB10

I corrected myself. I realized all I had to do was to create a local user (no AD) on my machine, copy RIM folder my HOMEPATH to HOMEPATH to the local user, then run cmd.exe as the local user and sign the binary file. Worked fine!

I finally got it to work!

With Windows process monitor, I was able to find out where he was really looking for the key signature files.

Turns out it was looking for them on the remote network drive, although HOMEPATH is simply pointing to ' / '.

I have now copied the three files to a new folder \\server\share\username\AppData\Local\Research in Motion\. For me, which did the trick.

  • HOWTO: Sign applications Webworks help CMD

How can I register a webworks app using CMD? There seems to be two different statements:

    Instruction1: http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/deliverables/23977/Configure_signing_for_tablet_application...

I tried the above statement and get the following error when I run the command bbwp with my passwords:

[ERROR]                 Cannot sign the application - could not find signature keys

Is there a way to specify the location of my keys with bbwp? Or bbwp expected the keys to a certain place?

    Instruction2: http://us.blackberry.com/developers/tablet/webworks.jsp

The link points to the same procedure as for the base Flex/AS Tablet apps of code signing.

    It fails with this error:

barsigner error: Server error: Code signing request has failed because the value of Entry-Point-Type is not recognized.

I finally understood what the problem was...

I pretty much followed the instructions in the section: http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/deliverables/23977/Configure_signing_for_tablet_application...

Since I already had my created as part of the Flex application developer certificate, signature process, I tried to re-use and copied to the folder... \bbwp\bin.  I called this file certificate as 'devcert.p12 '.

The FlexApp signature process was an input parameter to specify it. However the process of signature Webworks does not have this option and coming this file to be called 'sigtool.p12 '.

The tool was not able to find my p12 file, as it was called "devcert.p12", once I renamed it to sigtool.p12, I am able to sign

Recommendation to BB: could you add an extra parameter to "bbwp" to pass in the path to this file as input?

  • Signature keys 10 BB

    Team dear Blackberry,

I signed up for BlackBerry 10 signature key and generated the file bbtoken.csk but do not have the other files needed for the signature.

Its been more than 15 days and my development process has stopped because of signing keys. I contracted management of the seller, they redirected me to post querry on the support forum for the seller. When I posted my querry here, they took me here. Let me know how long is this redirect loop and when don't I have a solution to my querry.

I am struck at halfway of the development just because of signing keys. Please solve my querry before I realize, blackberry application development has been my biggest mistake.

Come back as soon as possible, what to do next.

    Best regards

If you are using the latest tools all you need is your BlackBerry ID chip (bbidtoken.csk).  Old method of signature used by our old tools made use of LSB files probably refer you.

If you are using older versions of the tools, you can request files SJC will be sent to you by choosing the second option on the order form ("apps for BlackBerry PlayBook, BlackBerry 10 apps development using a 10.1 or lower SDK or BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK under 2.0.").

If you do not use this method, be sure to link these keys to your account BlackBerry ID so that it is recoverable.  Details on that can be found here:

  • I'm unable to get a signed application to start

I built a small built-in browser JavaFX application that uses a "FileChooser" element to access a file on the desktop.

I'm fairly certain that this file access will require the application must be signed, what I did with a real certificate. (I also tried with a self-generated certificate too, with the same results.)

The problem is this race, that it results in an error in the browser:
"Run-time error. Click for more information"(Firefox)

    Or on IE:
«JavaFX application failed to launch because of the configuration of the system (error show Invisibles).» See java.com/javafx for troubleshooting information. The 'details' really say anything in particular that gives me a clue.

I get the result even if I try to run the application directly from Netbeans. However, if I deselect the option "Request unlimited access" in the project properties, the application will run (from Netbeans as well as deployed on a server), but the file you choose won't work, because of a security violation.

Can someone tell what I am doing wrong? I guess that these signed applications should work at this point. Maybe it's something in my code, but I'm a little bit lost at the moment.

With the #1 option - I have modified and rebuilt the pots 3 rd-party and them referenced in NetBeans. When I choose clean and build, the treated Ant produces an error: "jarsigner returns 1. So it doesn't seem to work at all.

As long you have re-built the jars properly without the original signature, I think it should work.
Here is an example of unsigning a pot using Ant:
    http://Frank.zinepal.com/unsign-a-jar-with-Ant

Don't you think that the idea of multiple-JNLP would work if NetBeans applies to "my" signature for 3 rd-party bribes? Apart from manually copying the original pots in the \dist directory, is there a better way to tell NetBeans to leave the JAR 3 rd-party only (IE, not to sign again)?

I think it is supposed to work (this is the mixed code signing situation I mentioned in my previous post).
For example, from your description that looks like the build of NetBeans default can't really not this type of deployment, so you should create a custom version that does what you need and are not triggered by NetBeans - what is feasible, but boring - it's looks like you tried this, but have been unable to operate as expected. For NetBeans specific help, you better post to a forum of NetBeans (although you might be only the second person who tried to do it with a JavaFX application).

You should also check that the end-user experience is acceptable, because I think that the dialog box and alert to the situation of mixed code management is different.

Search the section deployment guide "use for the descriptors of the Extension"-I think it documents how to do what you want if you are using a rather custom build file to let the NetBeans to do the work:
    http://docs.Oracle.com/JavaFX/2/deployment/javafx_ant_task_reference002.htm#CIABGCEE

Hmm, a lot of running to walk around to deploy an application that can open a file...

Wait... you mean you installed an update of the OS? And after that, this behavior started? If Yes, then the most common thing to do after an update which translates questions is to perform a reload of the OS. Sometimes the update process have errors and others... with a reload often cure the problems.

Official methods, which will be controlled as to what exact OS versions are available:

Non-official methods, which are cleaner and allow you to choose a version of the OS that maybe your carrier (or anyone they control your offers) delays in approval:

Of course, before you start this, you want a good backup link, a manual copy of the memory of your device to your PC and complete documentation of your configuration (identification information of account, adding applications, configurations, etc.). Sometimes, restoring a backup returns unit corruption even, must be eliminated and reconfiguration from scratch can solve that.

    Good luck!
