"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook" error message when you try to click on a name or contact us on a website to send an email on Outlook/microsoft office 2003 Vista OS msg. My laptop came with Microsoft Office 2007 TRIAL version, but I already had Microsoft Office Pro 2003, so loaded on when I got it almost a year ago. My trial expired months ago... but never uninstalled cause 2003 worked. Then I wanted to do something in WORD and kept pulling up the 2007 trial and was confusing, so I sent the 2007 trial stuff to recycle bin, but not yet the uninstall. Since then all of a sudden I started to get this error msg. I can open OUTLOOK very well... BUT I don't even use OUTLOOK at all. I send from comcast.
1. How can I get rid of this error?
2. does anyone know how I can get my comcast open up when I go to a website to webmaster option instead of defaulting to outlook? And I already checked, "set as my default" is NOT enabled in outlook.

Error Msg: cannot open the file "Windows XP Professional - 000004.vmdk.
The hard drive on my iMac crashed while my virtual machine is running. When I try to open the virtual machine 'suspended', I get the following error message: could not open the file "Windows XP Professional - 000004.vmdk"; The system cannot find the specified file. This file is listed in the contents of the packaging of the XP machine, but it notes the date, the iMac has crashed, which is the last day of work of the virtual machine. I have read through discussions and tried a few things from the knowledge base, but I can't go past the error msg for the virtual machine to run. Any suggestions?
After selecting OK, I then received the second attached message, "Current Message.png", which reads... "your virtual machine has not returned because of an error. If you believe that the error is correctable and you want to keep the suspended state, so you can correct the mistake, after that the virtual machine is turned off, select Preserve. To ignore the waking state, select reject. »
I didn't do anything since getting this second message because I do not know which to choose.
In this case I'd throw away them.
If after following your excellent detailed instructions & explanation (thank you!), here is what happened...
As the machine has begun to resume in a suspended state, that asked me if I moved or copied and I selected, copied.
In cases like this (restore a Machine virtual sauvegardΘ) the correct answer to this question is "I moved it" even thought "I copied it" seams more logical, it is not the right answer but with the advent of the second error message, not caused by the answer to the first question, no answer would have mattered.
(if I can just get my prospects for work with this virtual machine files, your help would be invaluable!)
This Virtual Machine is always recoverable, however if you are only interested in the recovery of data from the user then after reading the following quit VMware Fusion and try to mount the virtual disk to the Virtual Machine using the information below.
Take a look at: VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > Search > type VMDKMounter, and then select use VMDKMounter to mount a virtual drive as a Mac Volume
Notice, ignore the parts on "to add support for reading / writing to NTFS volumes, you need to install NTFS - 3G separately." as it is not necessary for recovering files within the VM using VMDKMounter, because you only need read access to retrieve data from the user.
After obtaining your user data disassemble the virtual hard disk on the desktop and then after that you want to retrieve the VM using methods from another just let know us and additional directions can be given.

Recent purchase of the new laptop with Win 7. Not able to open my Word 2003 program or
Outlook Express.
Has all the latest service packs. Help
Have reinstalled without success.Hello Dr.jj,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.
Office 2003 is compatible with Windows 7. However, given that you have problems, try the following:
Msmapi32.dll and rename it MSMAPI32.old.
So try, restart Outlook. The path is C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 or do a search for MAPI32.dll.
If the name change does not help, then run fixmapi.exe - it is in one of the office files or use the search (use
Advanced options search in hidden folders and files). If the advice above does not help us, it would be better to post in the Forums Office.

Cannot open the initial window of Firefox. (windows7 update)
When I run Firefox, the hourglass shows seconds, then disappears.
No window is open. This occurs after an automated update to my
Windows overnight Tuesday, dec 9. Internet Explorer is obviously OK.
All other programs OK.Have tried - without change:
restart computer; reinitialize modem and wifi home set; install new firefox (using "stub" 35.0.5); hold shift key down during launch; Windows "troubleshoot compatibility" reports "An error occurred while troubleshooting".
After any attempt to start the Task Manager shows there is at least one
Firefox.exe * 32 process (tab), but no related Application (tab).
Dialog box 'automatically add' could not open this file...Please use malwarebytes as well - in my experiences, it gives the best results (just leave the ability to run a try for the unchecked pro version)...

Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window.
I tried running Outlook.exe / resetnavpane because I see it worked for a ton of people - but I got the error message "cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. The command line argument is not valid. Check the switch you are using.
This is almost always due to:
1. you have an older version of Outlook that does not have command line switch. What version of Outlook you have?
2. you have not put a space between "Outlook.exe" and "/ resetnavpane.Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window.

Cannot open file because Windows needs to know what program created the file
After downloading some files when I try to open the file, I get the message cannot open the file, windows needs to know what program created the file.
Any suggestions?
Perhaps no program has been assigned to this file format and so you cannot open these files.
I put t know which files you downloaded, but you can choose an application installed that can open these files.Right click the file and I have to then choose open with.
Then, you could choose the program you want to use.Best regards
