Search indexing extremely slow 4.0

Search was indexing my local computer + 2 network drives, folders in appx 150K, mainly PDF and TIF (digital blue) since 10/15.

Within 5 weeks since then, she has been research 24-7 and is now nearing completion of 50%.

Is there a setting somewhere to make more quick index?

I'm running an i3 (2.93 GHz) w / 1.92 GB of Ram on XPsp3

Yes, it is offered as an optional update in Microsoft update (KB940157). You sholud be able to uninstall it from Add/Remove. Then you can try using the native XP Indexing Service (although this does not include things like e-mail and attachments).

The only time where I could have downloaded and installed which is on the microsoft Update site, which leads me to believe that this is a tool from microsoft.  Is not a correct assumption? If this isn't the case, then where can I find help and support on this piece of broken software, and how do I download and install a search tool that will work as well as one that was on this machine until I installed all recommended updates?  Or I'd better to wipe and reinstall XP from the original disc and not to install updates?

More importantly, why microsoft allow this piece of software appears in their repositiory as a recommended update?

  • Extremely slow AutoComplete for addresses after update to Thunderbird

Yesterday I upgraded to Thunderbird since version 30 to 31, AutoComplete for addresses is now, while I have written messages that are extremely slow to suggest contacts. If I enter only one letter in the destination field, thunderbird hangs for about 20 seconds and then shows me suggestions.
Type two letters quickly, thunderbird freezes for 13 seconds. typing 06:03 seconds
All tested even in safe mode
I have a local address book with about 9870 remote contacts (no address book) and before the upgrade, everything worked fine

The problem may be due to the new AutoComplete feature looking for matches which include the search string, not just those that match at the beginning of address book fields, which was the old method.

If you install MoreFunctionsForAddressBook, it will add a preference, morecols.autocomplete.match_just_beginning, that you can pass to true and see if it makes a difference. Tools(or AppMenu/options)/Options/Advanced/general/Config. Editor, paste the preference in search and double-click it from false to true.

Edit: Version 0.7 of MoreFunctionsForAddressBook includes this switch on the tab to AutoComplete (valid for TB 31 +) Options.

  • iTunes running extremely slow

I'm having a problem with extreme slowness.  I have read all the post and don't see anything that I could change to correct this situation.  I have my music on an external disk file using the FireWire on my iMac.  I have the latest Mac os 10.11.1 and the latest iTunes version 12.3.1.23.

I lit the apple music, but I'm not using the icloud or search service

I have 127,88 GB of music on any external drive

At this point, I am considering canceling music apple and past to another service, and I plan to download an alternative product to iTunes.

Is it possible that you and Podcasts iTunes can get their own programs as they do on the iPad and iPhone?

What would be a good alternative to iTunes?

    Thanks for any help.

One thing you should do is to run disk utility and test the volume of the external drive to confirm that there is no alteration of the data on it.  You can do this by selecting the disk external volume (indented under the Unit) in the disk utility sidebar.  Click on the button of first aid , then run it.  The corruption of data may cause slow access.  Also, if the player is close to being full, which can strongly increase the fragmentation of data, which can cause slow access, especially if the drive has been through cycles to get closer to satiety, followed erase you data in order to free up space, followed by get start near new...

My iTunes Media , also on an external FireWire drive folder, is currently 315 GB (with things that take more space as films, TV series, video podcasts, etc.).  I actively use two Match iTunes and music from Apple.  I don't feel any slowness.  You can do additional tests on your system to determine the cause.

  • Windows search indexing, but number of indexed items changes do not

    Hello

I'm using XPSP3 and Search 4.0.  Windows search indexing, but the number of indexed items changes do not.  It has been like that for several hours.  What is happening with this?  It slows down the performance, but I don't want to stop so he'll get.

    Any ideas?

Indexing finally stopped, but it took days!

  • How to program the search indexer to run when it is convenient for ME rather than on the computer

Is it possible to put the search indexer to run only at certain times of the day when I'm NOT at the computer and the constant grinding of my HDD does not bother me? It also tends to cause a lot of heat and make my computer fans to kick in "high speed" which is really noisy.
He plunges me nuts, because it seems to kick when I'm in the middle of an intense operation of the drive, and that slows things down.

I can't find it in the scheduled tasks, and only function in time of inactivity is obviously broken. If I can't plan sound at times, can I set it so I have to manually trigger?

Otherwise, just benefits are not worth the aggravation. I always check the Task Manager and resource monitor to see why my hard drive is grinding suddenly like crazy and my disk performance or my system just slowed down, just to see that runnning svchosts or searchprotocolhost.exe or searchindexer.

Yes, you can. I find also quite annoying as well as I use my PC as a media extender, and the impacts of the playback quality when it is used.

Create two files of orders (startindexer.bat and stopindexer.bat)

    In stopindexer, type the line

    net stop wsearch

In the startindexer enter the line

    net start wsearch

Now create 2 scheduled tasks to run the first batch file that stops the service every day at some point. The other for the throw upward at a time you do not use the computer. Point to note. You can run tasks scheduled under the system account otherwise you probably will not have rights to stop and start the service.

    It works very well.

  • Vista Search & indexing does not work

When I go to Control Panel/Indexing Options/Advanced/show Options all the locations of some files are to check, but the OS(c:) est grisée.) I had turned off at the same time & now cannot get it turned back on.

    How to make this work?

    Why indexing taking so long?

Why can't stop indexing or turn it off for awhile (it interferes with other programs sometimes)?

Why seek complex with a bunch of drop downs and it usually does not even get just a subfolder. I searched (using the F command) 3 letters in a title only and got a response from an area not indexed that contains NONE of the letters, and it took several minutes. @!

Some MS answers say to use the troubleshooting Index feature, but it doesn't seem to be indexing window.

    Hello

These two showed more problems of search for Windows 7, however, they also seem to be
able to affect Vista as well.

    1. one thing that seems to have an impact on several is the bit REACH has been set on some files
Index cannot be set and search for cannot be found. So the ATTRIB-a *. * bps, which means archive
is REMOVED for the files in the folder/directory Parent (top) and those in all the subfolders/sup-
    directories.

2 another problem seems to be McAfee and some other antivirus programs are interfering with the
Index or search functions. McAfee, must be uninstalled using the uninstall routine in
Windows AND the removal of McAfee too of course no remains are left. (Possibly other antivirus
programs are also what causes this error.) Of course, you want to move to another antivirus

  • How to remove IEHistory of search Index?

How can I get this annoying IEHistory thing from the list of search indexing places?

When I open the Control Panel options (search) indexing, it is filled beforehand with some areas index (mainly files).  These can be changed.  all except one: IEHistory is displayed (in fact, twice for two different user accounts) and does not appear in the box window f (when I press on change).  It seems that ms has decided it will index history whether I want it or not.  Well, I have not.  How can I remove it from the list?

more information: I can't find anywhere an explanation of what may mean this entry in the history of IE in the list; for example, this could mean that the content is a list of the URLs of websites visited since... as far as I put ie?  or maybe it means that the content is the real of the web pages to which point the URL, so it is keep a big cache of these things I don't want, as well as whenever I open a page of indexing, which slows down.

    also, I found a plugin in ms.com:
       http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=EA7F95D9-69AE-4639-9D76-A44F51109053&displaylang=en
IEHistoryPHInstaller., downloadable and says install means search will index it is to tell the story.  at least, it explains what this means: it maintains a cache of every version of every web page visited and the content index.  If it was not IEHistoryPHInstaller but rather UN-IEHistoryPH of the installer, I could understand, but now I am totally confused.  Maybe it's an amateur version of what is installed by default?  or maybe an older version?  because I couldn't think of anything else to try, I installed and uninstalled to see if she could actually uninstall the original research iehistory element, but no luck.  so, once again...

How can I get rid of this annoying IEHistory thing in the search indexing sites list?

    Thank you!  :)

I thought it would be easy, but it turned out be quite difficult.  I can't find a way to remove IE history of the search Index (and I spent well over an hour searching Bing, Google, Microsoft Knowledge Base and other forums).  I think there is a way using a registry change, but I don't have any idea of what this is edit or where (or what it takes to take).

The only suggestion I have is to delete your Internet history so it does not interfere with the search (if there's nothing there, it doesn't take any time to search).  You can do this by using the cleaning disc http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76073-disk-cleanup.html or better yet, here's an article on the procedure as well as how to put in place if the history is always deleted to stop: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/94183-internet-explorer-browsing-history.html.  Frankly, I wouldn't have this because I use my story Internet frequently (sometimes going back a week or two), but if you do not (most people use rarely and usually only for the same day, that wouldn't be a problem because he would retain the story of the day to stop) this can be a viable option and fix your problem with the search index (at least a work around until a real solution could be found if there is one - it may be in the system hard coded and cannot be changed).

If this isn't a satisfactory solution, I suggest that you post in the Forums Technet http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistasetup/threads , where participants are somewhat more technical nature that we are here and they have another solution for you (or maybe registry change that solves the problem).

    I hope this helps.
