Cannot start Windows Live Messenger

Since a few days ago, my Windows Live Messenger does not start I get the following message appears in the dialog box

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

C:\Program Files\Windows Live\messenger\msnmgr.exe

The application has failed to start because its side by conbfiguraiton is incorrect. Check the log of the events application for more details...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since then, I had uninstalled the Messenger and downloaded the Windows Live Essentials 2011 once again and reinstalled Messenger, but the same message always pop when I try to run MSN.

  • Cannot install windows live messenger, wlsetup is not a valid win32 application or wlsetup is obsolete!

I tried to download windows live messenger after a new new copy of windows xp.
I received the following error message (wlsetup is not a valid win32 application), I realized the the version I'm trying to install is only supported by windows 7 or windows vista. So I tried to download windows live install for xp, but I received the following error message (use windows update to download the latest version of windows install, then try again.) Your version of windows install is obsolete. MSI audit: 0 x 80280002). Now I'm stuck!
I couldn't find a soluton in the forums of Windows live.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Windows install is what is used to install programs. Have you checked if there is an update as they said and you have the latest Service Pack?

You can answer these questions then try this:

    1. go to this site - http://ninite.com/
    2. scroll down a bit to mail and put a check mark on Messenger (2009).
    3. scroll to the bottom of the page, and then click Get Installer.
    4 run.

  • Cannot start Windows Live family safety

    Hi team,

I can't start Windows Live family Safety because UXCore.dll is missing from the computer.

This happened after upgrade Windows 10 and return to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I returned to Windows 7 because I didn't like the way windows Family safety 10.

    I've done clean uninstall using the "c:\program files (x 86) \windows live\installer\wlarp.exe" /cleanup:all /q. "

    I have uninstalled several times.

After especially clean uninstall I re-installed using windows essentials install offline at this link http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/essentials

    I reinstalled several times.

It did not work and I still get the error that uxcore.dll is missing.

I also used other uninstall programs to perform a clean uninstall. No luck.

I have deleted the folders of Windows Live program files and also registry keys and performed uninstall and reinstall with no luck.
Is it possible for management to provide the file so I can just put in the directory.

    Thank you.

Hi, I fixed that. I ran wlarp and chosen repair this time. It worked. Everything is good.

    Help

    Hi drvick,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forums.

You please try and perform a clean boot on your system to see if you are able to locate your videos?

Here are the steps on how to perform a clean boot on your system:

First step: perform a clean boot

    1. sign your computer with an administrator account.

    2. click on start.

    3. type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

    4. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    5. in the general tab, click Selective startup, and then click to clear the check box load startup items.

    6. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

    * NOTE: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    7. click OK and then click on restart.

Second step: enable half the services

    1. start the System Configuration utility. Refer to the steps above if you need to see how to do this.

    2. click on the Services tab and then click to select the skin all the Microsoft services checkbox.

3 click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.

    4. click OK and then click on restart.

Step 3: determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat the first stage and the second stage. In step 2, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have initially enabled in the Service list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat the first stage and the second stage. In the second step, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one service is selected in the list of services, and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to sixth step. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

Step 4: enable half of the startup items

Perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

Click the Startup tab, and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

Click OK and then click on restart.

Step 5: determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat the first step and the fourth step. In step 4, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have originally selected in the startup item list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat the first step and the fourth step. In the fourth step, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the startup item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to sixth step.

If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat the first stage and the second stage without selecting the skin all the box Microsoft services at every step.

    Step 6: resolve the problem

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

    Step 7: solve the problem

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start

    2. type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

    3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    4. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    5. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.
