Cannot use additional storage on HARD drive replacement
I have a Dell Poweredge T105 with a SAS 6IR controller. It is running Windows Server 2008 R2. It has a 40Gb C: drive which has the OS on it. D: drive is used to store data and use the rest of the capacity of the disk.
Because of low disk space, I replaced the original Western Digital RE3 500 GB drives with Western Digital RE4 2 TB drives, they are configured as a RAID 1 array. After leaving each reader to reconstruct I was always showing an array of 500 GB that I understand that should be the case.
When I look in the Windows user interface for the controller it shows the additional 1.5 to the banks as reserved, Windows Explorer and disk management show only the 500 GB and none free unallocated space. Also the rate negotiated for new readers shows that 1.5 GB instead of 3 GB.
My questions are:-
1. I can I use the 1.5 to extra without losing data. How is that possible?
2. how to get readers to negotiate to 3 GB.
Thank you in advance.
You can only do with a SAS 6/iR controller. The 6 SAS is a controller of entry level with very limited capabilities. ((1) you cannot increase the size of an existing array, and 2) you cannot have multiple bays in the same set of disks.
PERC 6 / i controller is a controller of high-end and would give you more flexibility and options, but is not officially supported in a T105. With the PERC 6, you could create a second table on the disks (would be presented to the operating system as another "drive" for storage).
Your 'best' option is to make a backup and restore the data to create a new, larger RAID 1.

I bought my Macbook Pro 17 (it's a Mid-2009, running Cougar 10.8.4) used on eBay, and it came with Adobe Master Suite CS5. I pursued a degree in graphic design, and the computer had everything that I needed to start. Now that I'm out of College, I rely heavily on InDesign and Photoshop to get the job done. However, after five years of loyal service without problem, my Mac has crashed and I have never used time Machine. I might have to reinstall Mountain Lion or replace the hard drive. Reinstalling my operating system or hard drive replacement will cause me to lose my Adobe Master Collection of applications? I can save them somehow?
Any reply and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Hello
I bought the HP ENVY 15-as032nr with only 512 GB SSD laptop. I want to add additional 1 to hard drive. Can it be done?
Yes, you have the 512 m2 NVME PCI - e (lucky) drive gig and that goes into a slot and then there is also a slot open for a standard hard disk 2.5 thumbs or SATA SSD. See pages 30-33 of the manual here:
It is likely that your laptop does not contain the HDD mounting kit and cable as shown on page 30 and 31 and this note is in the Manual:
The disk spare parts kit hard does not include the rubber hard drive support or cable hard drive. The hard disk rubber support is available using the spare part number 857797-001. The hard drive cable is available by using the spare part number 857806-001
An extra $ 66 for the housing and the cable seems a bit strong, but I couldn't find their sale anywhere other than HP Store.
This isn't a simple upgrade; If you need assistance.

HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC Hard Drive replacement
Hello
I have HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC, and I had problems with hard disk of the guarantee period. for example I buy in 2010 and had a hard drive replaced in 2011 and 2012. Next time, he failed in 2013 (almost 11 months apart on average).
The last time it failed, the warranty has expired so I thought to give it a try as employment through fixing/amortization of bad sector seagate software, Toshiba... that came out of Smart Drive Error.
I use the HARD drive for some time now, but want to be ready for the next round and I don't know that he's going to be gone for good next time.
Current HARD disk is 640 GB, 7200 RPM hard drive (replaced in 2012). HP 621046-001 manufacturer.
When replacing, can I use ANY hard drive 640 GB? Can I use a hard drive that is higher than 640 GB? Different RPM?
Any suggestions on hard drive?
The recovery discs I had received with the replacement drive did not work properly. I had to use the first game I had created just after I bought the laptop.
Thank you.

I think that 160GB 2.5 "SATA III SSD is good for the system.

How can I do a disk Government cleanup using vista on a hard drive that I sell?
How can I do a disk Government cleanup using vista on a hard drive that I sell?
The above is very good.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OR for a Vista reinstall:
Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
They will tell you how to do this.
Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
I had my hard drive replaced on my Toshiba lap top and my windows 7 is no longer considered as authentic code has rubbed off the sticker on the base of my lap top. Where can I find it?
Option 1:
If the COA sticker is damaged, you must use the recovery partition to reinstall Windows 7, it will be exempt from the need to use the product key to activate your installation of Windows 7.
Option 2:
If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling. This will exempt the need to also use the product key.
Option 3:
If neither options 1 or 2 is possible, then you will need to invest in a new license of full version of detail.
Should what format I use for my external hard drive?
I have an external drive that I wish I could use (writing) from my Mac and my PC, but without the limitations of + 4 GB files.
Is this possible or am I pasted with limiting the size? If so should what format I use on my external hard drive? and it has all the other notes aside I should know?
Thank you!
Hi Filabaca:
If you want to use a hard drive external Mac and PC options are:
1. format the drive in Mac as exFat
2. format the drive to NTFS on a Windows PC and use a program like Paragon NTFS for Mac. https://www.Paragon-Software.com/home/NTFS-Mac/
Paragon NTFS for Mac allows you to use a disc formatted in NTFS by a Windows PC.
Here is an article showing the difference between FAT32, exFAT and NTFS. http://www.howtogeek.com/235596/whats-the-difference-between-fat32-exfat-and-ntf s /
I have a mac 2009 i (late), I want again to install snow leopard (I have the disc), but my driver disk is broken! So I want to ask if there is a way to create a disk image of my windows pc to use it through the hard drive of my imac Lord?
External DVD USB drives are cheap. Usually $20 for a good quality player. Just buy one of these at Best Buy or another store and use it to install Snow Leopard. Then you also have a drive for something else that you have on the disk.
Can I use my old external hard drive after replacing SSDS?
I recently bought a replacement of SSD for my hard drive. A friend suggested I have get a box for the old man and keep it in a backup or extra. I was wondering how difficult that would be, and I would be able to run applications from her?
-Matt H.
Yes, your friend is good, just buy a USB box for this and then you, it's like any other external hard drive. You can get these 10 pounds and more, but you get what you pay for.
Simply open the screw in the naked reader, plug, close the case and you are done. It's very simple to do.
· My old Win XP computer died - it is completely unusable. I bought a new PC with Win 7 Pro and 1 TB. I still have the old HARD DRIVE (250 GB) which I have attached on the new computer using an external enclosure supports SATA drives. The external hard drive is connected to the computer in USB 3.0. I checked that the new computer can see the external hard drive. (I also used for backups by changing the hard drive with a 2 TB drive 'mass storage' - that works.)
I searched the internet for possible solutions and found no help. If the transfer of files from Microsoft would change the disc to analyze, it would be simple. But if I select the OLD computer it scans the disk I'm on (new) - automatically.
Is there anyone who has had the same problem? He must be because computers die all the time and people buy new computers - who then, somehow, they get the former transferred files. I could do it manually, but that wouldn't change the settings. Last resort would be to buy an old computer XP (SATA), replace the drive. Transfer the files, and then sell this computer.
You may be able to recover your data files, but I hope that you will set up your new system to automatically backup a second internal hard drive or an external USB hard drive.
This suggestion may not work, but it's worth a try. Buy an external USB drive enclosure. They come in two sizes 2.5 "for the portable computer drives and 3.5" for desktop disks. You can purchase adapters for 3.5 "envelopes so that they can also be used with a portable player. Place the hard drive in the enclosure and connect to a USB port of another computer. Several hard disks are more able to start, but the contents of the disc can still be accessed, read and copied from the disk because you do not use the operating system on a failed disk.
Here is an example of the type of device, I suggest:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=external+hardrive+enclosure&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=14388537836&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=556960941559985931&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_32uorbwbuk_bYou need only to the speaker, that you see are not necessarily more expensive. Thereafter, you can put an old hard drive usable, an abandoned because you need a larger drive internal, in the enclosure and use it as additional external storage.
How to install windows 8 on hard drive replacement with no installation disc
I need to replace the failed hard drive on my laptop Asus N56VJ. I will probably opt for a hybrid drive of 1 TB. But how can I reinstall the windows operating system that is installed at the factory 8 with available installation disc?
Hello Maggie,
Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.
Thank you for details on the issue.
I also appreciate the fact that you want to install Windows on a new hard drive.
You can install Windows using the steps described in this article and check if it helps.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/create-reset-refresh-mediaI hope that you have the Windows product key for activation .
Important notes:
BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.I recommend strongly to backup all your important files and folders on an external storage device before performing any type of OS, repair, upgrade or clean install.
I hope this information helps.
