As I never had problems with Microsoft Updates in the 3 years that I've owned this computer, I am confused now what has happenned.
My laptop has a valid copy of Windows XP Professional and has always already been updated successfully, both manually by using the web page for the custom updates and so automatically.
Can someone please shed some light on the question and how to fix it? I obviously don't want to need to format this computer.
I still regularly ran my anti-virus (N360 which is always updated) software and windows defender. I have also always used Spybot S & D. None of the mentioned software found no major problems, as I expect, because they are supposed to prevent intrusions. I also run the current Microsoft malicious software removal tool as an extra precaution.
My problem is:
After you perform a system restore to an earlier date on my laptop, I wanted to check windows update to make sure that all my security updates are in and up to date. I opened the page to update as normal, then I accept the license agreement and I continued to the next screen. Normally, I don't have to do this, he usually directly goes to the page.
Then, I got this error message:
The files required to use Microsoft Update are longer registered or installed on your computer.
It is possible for me to choose
"register or reinstall the files now (recommended)".
However when I try this option I'm headed to the next web page where I get another error message:403-Forbidden: access is denied. You don't have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.

I have a new and strange behavior on my computer. Until recently, the two icons, 1394 connection and LAN icons always used to appear in the whole system tray after the computer has been started. Is no longer the case. Whenever I start the computer, I don't see the icon of LAN but discover that it attributed to items passed. Then I open the properties of the network connection, uncheck 'Show the icon in the system tray', click Apply + OK, then I open the properties, check the box again, click Apply + OK; only the LAN icon is displayed in the system tray. I'd appreciate any help with this problem. The situation is sometimes the reverse case, i.e., LAN icon appears in the system tray, but I find the icon to connect 1394 points ago. I put the properties in the Start Menu, the toolbar always showed.
Hi ErhanKarabekir,
- Did you the latest changes on the computer?
- You have security software installed on the computer?
Method 1
Refer to the article below and try the steps mentioned, check if it helps.
How to troubleshoot missing network connections icons in Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/825826
Method 2
If the previous step fails to them it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

Firefox Version: 7.0.1 Mozilla Firefox with toolbar AOL - 1.4
Keep get informed that I should upgrade to the most secure version (I think it of 8.x and have done and waited for Firefox restart.) However, when it does, it still shows 7.0.1 and later I get the same notification of the need for updates.I run Windows XP, SP3
If you have used the help > on Firefox > cocher check for updates method, try to download the full installer, save it on your hard drive, once the download is complete, close Firefox (Firefox button > output or leader > Exit), then run the installer, accept the default values and it will install over your current version, assuming that you have accepted the default settings in your Firefox 7.0.1 installation.

My HP HDX 18 1200 has a cooling fan make noise at startup after being off for the night.
I don't have any document that shows how to open the unit and change the fan. If the folder is available please either post the pdf or send them to me please.
Can I change the fan, that I built PC for 20 years.
Hello
You can try to look at this document. It's maintenance and repair for the HDX 18 series, it is not listed under manuals for your model, so it is perhaps not entirely accurate, but it should be close, since this one is listed for earlier versions of the HDX 18 series.

I have Microsoft's latest Pack Service, can I uninstall old Service Packs when news are installed?
Do you see even registered?
In general - you should leave well enough alone when it comes to patches. Microsoft does a job just to install only the parts of a patch which aren't already in place - so, even if you started without service pack, got SP1, SP2 and SP3 as well as 100 + post-SP3 fixes - this is not as if the use of space was exactly cumulative... The overlap himself would have worked. -

Hello
SP3 - download from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=24
Don't worry about the bit of network installation in the text, it does the job for all environments.
Also, if you have already tried Windows Update, you pourrait have need to follow this link after installing SP for windows update to work

Portable Acrobat Pro on a new computer installation. At the point of download get the message "Setup has detected that you already have a better version product installed. The installation program will end now. "Acrobat Pro is NOT already installed, in any version. What is the problem?
Thanks for the comments. Drive and cleaning tool has not helped. We found that the add-on PDF associated with FrameMaker was causing the issue. Uninstalled FM and the add-on, and then was able to install Acrobat Pro without any problem. Then reinstalled FM. Weird, but it worked.
