Captive 3 - take a break on the question slide?

Hello

I hope you can help. The problem I have now is that I have a series of questions, but it is no way to 'break' the slide on a question - which means that if the user does not respond within a certain time it simply returns the question! (or all the text disappears)

It seems no way I can add a "pause" on a question slide timeline (yet oddly enough, some of them seem to have exactly that!).

Now, I don't want to make each slide 10 long minutes (which is an inelegant option, I guess), I want just the slide to pause until the user selects a response (like some random actually appear to do!).

Any suggestions? Why some wait until the user provides and respond, but others just move to the next slide if the user does not respond within a certain period of time?

Any help, as always, welcome.

Hello

When you look at the timeline, the background layer will be the number of the slide. You will see something like "slide 1 | (1.5 s) "the | indicates where the blade is paused. You can put your mouse pointer and adjust where and when the slide is paused.

Regarding the question slides, there should be no need to change this option. In your case, you may have accidentally set the break to occur in 0.1 seconds, and leading questions thanks to jump without a break.

Good luck

Doug

  • 8 video on the question slide and how to play and to pause the video in a Captivate question slide

    Hello

I use 8 Captivate and want to make a video on a question slide which I can do, but I want to play and pause the video.

    Is this possible?

    See you soon

    Erika

Perhaps.  You can try to insert the video as a video synchronized multiple slides (even if it's on a single slide) which will then translate the video editing is locked in the timeline of the slide. You can drag the length of the blade of quiz and set the point of break of the quiz slide to where you want the video to pause.  Try in a quick experimental project and see if it does what you want.  The other way to pause the slide would be to use a smart shape button as other types of interactive objects can be added to the quiz slides.

  • How to separate the question slides?

I'm working on a tutorial. I wish it was questions all the tutorial to reinforce what is taught. The order would be kind of like 2 content slides, 2 question slides, 2 content slides, slides of question 2. Unfortunately, all the question slides get mix and cannot be separated even when I try to add two slides in question at the end, they automatically appear just after the first 2 question slides. How can I solve this problem?

What version do you use? This has been the case in the very old versions, but for some time, you should be able to have the content of the slides between the question slides. Unless you don't talk about normal question slides but pre-test slides: who should be in the sequence at the beginning of the project.

  • Possible to take a break, turn the unit off, and then out of the previous point?

Whenever the device turns off, it goes back to the previous song completed, or podcast, which was played.  It's incredibly annoying when you listen long files because the FF is very slow.  I choose on 'pause' the existing/podcast song, then choose lock or just let it stop by itself, but anyway that it restores the previously played file.

    Am I missing something?

    Version 01.03.02A firmware.

If you take a break and then YOU turn off the player, rather than to let it run itself turned off, it will save the spot.  It won't save the task if it turns off by itself.

And when you turn it off, hold the button for about 10 seconds or until you see the ring flashing in blue.  Otherwise, it goes into sleep mode and uses the battery life.

  • How to get an overview of the effects of the question slide?

    Captivate 5
    Win XPSP3

Problem: how to have an overview of the effects (such as drop shadow) applied to the objects (jpg) on a question slide.

Situation: Quiz to tell 5 random questions drawn from a pool of 50 questions multiple choice.

    Questions pool Panel:
I'm building the Quizzing question slides workspace.
I can view the slide and add questions and answers + jpg images that may be necessary.

If I want to add a shadow to an image, I select the object (img) and place you in the effect controls panel.
I add a drop shadow and can make adjustments, BUT the effect is not visible on the slide.

The Live Preview button is grayed out and unavailable.

Overview of the toolbar options are...
F3 slide... Does not show the effect.
F4 project... would take too long AND would be not safe to view the slide at which I had added the image effect.
F12 browser... shows the entire project with 5 random questions but not necessarily the specific slide.

Am I on the Filmstip Panel:
    There are several options preview...
F8 this slide... If I select a blank Question slide at random, it shoots a question of the pool of 50, but not necessarily that I'm working on.
F10 then 5 slides... same problem as F8

    Unacceptable workaround solution:
I can create another pool 'test', containing one question.
Copy slides edited to "test the pool and the preview with F8 or F10.
    A lot of extra work...

Then the effect works and would weigh on the finished quiz... BUT... I can't (without a lot of P'ing on) Preview and adjust effects applied to a question slide.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Concerning

    Frank

If you want to test the effects on a particular slide of your pool of the Question, and you don't want to publish all slides to see it, just click with the right button on the slide in the question pool and select move Question to > the project main.

Then, you will be able to preview the effects as with any other slide.  When you know that the slide is over, just get him back in the Question pool.

  • Introduction of the Question slide

All the bulletin boards newbie so please, be gentle. I'll try not not to break several rules of etiquette. I dove in with both feet, having abandoned the rather limited add to a popular presentation program wildly superior Captivate 2.

In any CASE, when I add a question slide to a presentation, (I downloaded a template to start the project, although I don't know if this has any impact at all.) it has the word 'Introduction' right in the upper left. Of course, it's there when I publish. I can't send it to the back, I can't send stuff in front of her, I can't highlight and delete, I can't move it, I can't reduce it, I can't do anything with it but the glare and curse my ignorance.

I'm going on training contracts for my group (5 of us) soon, but like many other projects they needed, a person who could do this job yesterday and for my producer little experience they operated me. Any help will be greatly appreciated. See you soon.

Hi Captivelater and welcome to our community

Have you looked at perhaps the first or the second slide? See if you see this 'introduction '. It could be a legend or an image that has been configured to run for the whole project. If so, you have to find where it appears first to change or remove.

    See you soon... Rick

  • Take a break after the speech synthesis

    Hello

Speech synthesis is one of the great features of Adobe Captivate.

Once a character said his text, Captivate automatically adds a short pause at the end. I think the break takes half a second.

  • I can take a break in the middle of a conditional action?

    Hello

Use 6 Captivate, is it possible to introduce a break during a conditional action, while I can, for example display text, pause for 2 seconds and then show a second bit of text, or what I have to jump out of the conditional action, use the timeline, and then create a second conditional action.

    Thank you very much Mike

Advanced actions are triggered by events.  You have a limited number of events available, including on click (of a button or clickbox), success, on the last attempt, on slide enter, leaving drag, etc.  But there is no default event that you can use in the middle of the timeline on a slide.  Should the user to take action.

  • What is the best way to break the questions quiz thanks to a project?

I have a project with 3 distinct branches, with 2 questions at the end of each branch. I can't seem to find a way to allow to learner their mini-quizzes to review, and then return to the menu to select the next branch (and repeat). Even though I kept the review quiz at the end of each pair of questions, the project passes the exam and immediately jumps to the next slide in the project, which is the next branch. I thought I could include the option to jump to the slide from the menu at the exit of the slide, but it is grayed out. Any thoughts?

If you use the default question slides, it is almost impossible. You report the results of an LMS? It is a requirement of SCORM that each file can have only a quiz, transfer the only quiz results. That is why the design of questionnaires in Captivate has focus: mode of consultation is available only after all the question slides, and it will be both in view mode will not allow any new attempt. Maybe that's what's causing your experience.

Leaving the event isn't available for the actions of the slide in Question/Score. The actions specified at the level of the question (for questions) or quiz (to score) level will be performed instead.

Only if you do not report to an LMS and create custom question slides you get total control.

  • Unexpected break to the COP6 with quiz.

    Hi all

Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I've not found anywhere.

In a module that I created, a quiz is dispersed on the length of the module so that students get intermittent "Test your knowledge" questions. By the way: they are not classified in this regard, they just need to get feedback and move. All questions are MC (some multiple single answer, some). In quiz preferences, I am hosting several attempts.

On the request of the customer, they should be able to return to the exercise at any time again. Regardless of whether or not they answered the question correctly.

This means that the quiz all the reset after each question answered. In CP5, the solution was to simply 'jump' the quiz to a blank slide and jump to the slide after the question answered. I noticed that in CP6, it's different: actually go beyond the results slide (hidden in my case) to reset.

The solution is then in this case to access a blank slide before the result slide. This slide does nothing more than to continue. You also need a blank slide after the landslide results. On this slide, entrance, I created an action that takes the module to the next slide after the slide in question that I left in the first place. Our quiz results slide is always at the end of the module.

Example: If the results of the quiz was slide 30, I created a blank slide 30 and a blank slide 32 with the 31 quiz results slide. Slide 31 is hidden, but miraculously, Captivate the increments of the quiz number attempt if I'll blade 30-32.

Then, I still need to return to the slide of the question, or in fact, the next slide in the theory in the module (as I said, this isn't a test at the end, the questions are dispersed on the module).

    That's what I came with:

First of all, I created the 'QuestionSlideLeft' variable (init: 0)

Leaving the question slide, I run a peak called QuestionSlideLeft action that does the following:

"Expression - equal to CpInfoCurrentSlide + 0 QuestionSlideLeft"

I added a second line with 'Continue' for good measure. In the properties of quiz I make the leap to my blank slide before the slide results (in my example "Jump to Slide 30' for success and failure.

On the slide after slide of results, I run dvanced BackToNextSlide action

'Assign cpCmdGotoSlide with QuestionSlideLeft' + continue and I added go to next page for good measure. This next slide should go to cpCmdGotoSlide.

The funny thing is: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. After some hair pulling, curse, blowing steam, it now seems to be due to a unexpected break on the first of the two empty slides, i.e. one that precedes the slides. If I saw you post with the playback bar, I can click on the Play button and it will execute advanced action.

So, basically, my question is: is that what someone has had the same experience and how can I fix this problem? If I do something wrong, I would appreciate it much comment. I have discussed with our expert resident of Captivate and he doessn t know the answer either.

    Thank you very much.

    Jan.

Hi Jan, welcome to the forum (you Dutch?)

Thought I had posted my workflow in January some time, but cannof it find. That's what I use in CP7, but I suspect it works very well in 6 establishments. BTW: what version of 6 because he had 3 releases?

Principle is that when you provide the attempts of infinity (or many) Quiz level, once you get to the slide of Score, the next attempt can be started. If you pass a question score slide slide (you must have this visible one) and return to the slide of the question, answer is deleted because a new Quiz attempt began.

Create a reset button for the question slide and allow it to trigger an action of standard tip with two instructions:

    1. Go to "slide to score."
    2. Go to last visited Slide

In Captivate 7 I turned into a shared action, only the parameter being the number or label of the slide to score and it can be reused in any project.

  • Click Box doesn't take a break?

I am using Captivate 5.   Very new to him.   I have a series of slides, I want to take a break at the end of each group that they are waitting for a button to click for it to go to the next slide.
I have added a click box to the slide that is supposed to go to the next slide... it is configured to pause the project until you click.  I got to the end of the button about 2 seconds away from the end of the slide on the time line.
When I saw the project that he break it passes just to the next slide.  I can't seem to get the break no matter what I do.
ANY help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

If you have no specific setting for your Adobe® Captivate® 5, then you can try to recreate the Captivate 5 preferences:

    (1) close Adobe Captivate 5

    (2) rename the folder 'Captivate 5' in:

[Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\Users\[user name] \AppData\Local\Adobe folder

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\ [user_name] \Local Adobe application folder

    (3) launch Captivate 5 again and try to view your project once again

    Thank you

  • In the tutorial renders Sub unanswered question slides

Hi, I looked through the last months of questions and do not exactly my problem.

I have a Captivate 4 linear project and has questions (without partitions reported to LMS) throughout to reinforce learning.

When a learner gets to an item in the series of quizzes and wants to return to a previous content slide (with OCD or arrow to the left on the navigation bar - I don't have arrow to the left of the Question slide itself.) they cannot return to the issue and take it. The question seems to be locked up and they get the error message below. It is a question that they never tried.

    CaptivateQuestionError_sm.jpg

I am not a "back button" on the issue because I don't encourage that, but I on the parameters of the Quiz "allowing travel to the rear. If the problem will be solved, then I'll add this button. I was wondering if there is another setting that I can change.

The parameters of the question are:

    QuestionSettings.jpg

This is the incomplete feedback message by default.  I would check the number of attempts for the quiz.  I believe that if they leave the slide he woud be like jump, which is like a bad response. Which can cause the quiz to be omitted.  Have you checked the tab of failure pass under preferences of quiz as well?
