Card reader for Satellite M40 updates

Hello

I have a Satellite M40 and my SD card reader will not read the new SDHC memory card type. Are there drivers for this?

Cheers foxy packard

It s not a limitation of the software (driver), but a physical limitation. The hardware's player card doesn t support this kind of maps and a driver update will not help!

Maybe you can buy an external card reader that supports SDHC memory cards.
These external card readers are not expensive and you can connect to the laptop's USB ports

Good bye

    Hello everyone,
I can't find "Pref. material" in the BIOS to disable a sound card on my Satellite M40-289. Please, step by step help?

    Hello

As far as I know the unit has a phoenix BIOS. Am I wrong?
I don t think you will be able to disable the sound card functions in the BIOS.
If you want to disable the sound card so do it in Device Manager.

But I have a question. Why it is so important for you to disable the sound card?

  • Satellite A200-1 TB - need driver card reader for Vista 64-bit

    Hi all

I just bought a new laptop Satellite A200-1 TB and I installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit (x 64) on it but, unfortunately, it did not the mass storage driver (the driver memory card reader).

Can anyone know where I can download it? I tried on the Toshiba driver page and I couldn't find.

    Thank you.

    Download this file:

[TI Card Reader Driver for Windows Vista/XP 2.0.0.7 | http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/driver_cardreader_ti_25844A.exe]

but do not install it via the installer. Unzip using winzip/winrar/7zip and manually update the driver in device pointing to the Directory Manager

    + unpacked_archive_dir + \Windows\tiinst\Vista64

    works fine for me

  • Satellite P300 - 18 M - use the card reader for Vista Ready Boost OK?

    Hello

I have a P300 - 18M, and due to get a new phone, have a spare Micro SD 8 GB card.
I put it in the card reader, and I currently use it for Ready Boost, even though I have 3 GB of RAM, there is certainly a performance gain...

However, no one knows if this could endanger the card reader? (IE damage it in any way) to be used all the time?

    Thank you

    Jack

Hmm. I wonder about the 8 GB card Micro SD.
As far as I know and according to some details in the internet, Satellite P300 supports the microSD (with adapter) 512 MB to 4 GB.
Usually the laptop card reader s should recognize either large 4 GB microSD cards.

However I doubt it might affect the functionality of the card reader in the worst case that the 8 GB microSD card will not be recognized by the card reader

  • card eSATA for Satellite Pro A200GE - 26Q

    Hello world

I'm new on the forum and laptops computers Toshiba range as a whole, but I recently took delivery of my nice new Satellite Pro A200GE - 26Q.

On the surface, it seems a beautiful machine, but here's the question:

Like I need reading wav and MP3 directly from an external drive I am interested in an eSATA as they claim offer lightning speed (I na? don't know how true that is) but I guess USB is not fast enough for my needs.

I saw on some web sites you can buy cards eSATA, which is in a port or a card (thingy) on your laptop - is this possible on my laptop and if so someone knows what cards are best for Toshiba?

The same State of websites to stay away from some brands of cards, especially the cheaper because they do not offer the full speed of eSATA and in some cases are actually slower than USB.

Now if it's a PC desk top that I could wack just in one eSATA top brand on the PCI bus expansion card but laptops are a total different animal. If this area is all new to me - tips or pointers greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Kenny

May I ask what card eSATA you need and which you want to connect to the laptop?

I googled a bit and it seems that this laptop has been equiupped with the 6 in 1 card reader. It supports these cards:
SD Memory Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, MultiMediaCard, xD-Picture Card, SDIO

    But nothing about eSATA cards

The laptop also supports the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed standard.
So you will be able to transfer data and files with a speed of 480 Mbps (60 MB/s)
I think this should be enough for you music

  • Re: Where to find the drivers for satellite M40-110

I need the right updated drivers (especially since the update of the Bios) to M40 - 110, but the official site there are only drivers for M70 M100 &... WHY?
    I need the drivers now.

    Hello

There is a simple explanation, why you can't find the drivers for the Satellite M40 in the area of the laptop.
The old series of mobile have been moved to an area of ARCHIVE of the page of European driver of Toshiba.

So if you need the drivers, go to the ARCHIVES-> Satellite-> Satellite M Series-> Satellite M40

    ;)

  • Satellite M40 - update the BIOS

    Hello

I need an update of the BIOS not corrupted for a Satellite M40 PSM40 ATI chipset.

Windows XP based wife M40 was a behavior more oddly for some time. Just weird crashes, does not software, etc. Seems to pass all the diagnostics, all OS/applications software is patched the current versions and analysis we all antivirus programs up-to-date and clean.

So, I thought I'd try updating the BIOS and other related stuff. It was about two months ago... When I discovered I couldn't download this shit, or anything else, on the Toshiba site. Despite calls telephone etc. told me ' just keep trying... and try... and so, you get the picture!

Then last weekend I tried downloading one of my Windows 2000/IE6 based PC and was surprised to find that they worked. I had previously used my Vista Home Premium 32/IE7 based PC, which I think was the source of my misery for so long to download...

Anyway... tried unpacking the BIOS tonight only to be told that he is corrupt or not a zip file. Tried to download again, same results. Have you tried unpacking on three different PC - XP, Vista, and Windows 2000, all with the same result.

    Help please?

    See you soon
    Peter

I can't believe that I downloaded the BIOS for the M40 (1.70) and I was able to unpack this package, so I guess that something was wrong during the download process.

I think you know what could be my advice ;) try again

    Good luck

  • Internal card reader freezes Satellite Pro A due to bent pins

    Hello

The stems of my internal card reader are folded due to a card of memory being glued and then removed.
This causes windows to freeze at startup.

Now I can disable the software etc. to stop what's happening, but what I'd rather do is to physically unplug the internal card reader, so Windows does not attempt to find it and crashed.

Is it easy to remove the card reader internal?
If yes then it would cost a fortune to obtain Toshiba to fix?

I don't really want to spend a lot of money on something that is not a value of more than £200, which I intend to sell soon.

    See you soon,.
    Dave

    > but what I'd rather do is unplug physically the card reader internal, so Windows does not attempt to find and crash.

Since the card reader is part of the motherboard, you can not disconnect it physically.
    In your case, there are two possibilities;
Either buy and replace the motherboard (I think that it s not an option for you die at high costs) or you would disable this card reader in Device Manager

  • Good for Satellite M40 DVD DVD player model

Can someone tell me what model of drive of DVD the Satellite M40 (PSM40A) was supposed to come with?
According to Windows (XP Pro), mine was initially a carpet * a UJ831S, the version of firmware 1.00. Due to problems with this drive, it was replaced under warranty by Toshiba.

According to the label, the new disc is a carpet * a UJ840, with annotation HW 1.10 FW 1.40, which I assume the hardware and firmware versions respectively. Problem is that this drive is reports still on Windows as a UJ831S, a firmware version 1.40 now.

I am sure that Toshiba write their own firmware for these drives and so have control over what is reported for Windows. I suspect that this model of M40 should never take a UJ840 and so it's to be deliberately badly reported to Windows as a UJ831S. I never saw the label on the original disc and have therefore no ideae if it was actually a UJ831S.

The reason why I'm curious is that I always have problems playing some audio CD original with this player and think that it could be a problem of hardware compatibility. It is certainly not a question of protection of the CD, and the CD set fine on other laptops I tried them, with the exception of Toshibas with Mat * one or recorders of DVD Teac.
Toshiba say that nothing can do more.

I must point out that this laptop was purchased in New Zealand and can be specific to the Australasian market. I write here because the New Zealand from Toshiba web site (actually ends up on the Austraian site) does not appear to have a forum.

    Thank you
    Malc

    Hello

I studied a bit in the internet on the disc that came with this unit but I can't find useful information about the name of the drive and which drive was delivered with this device, but I guess it was a UJ831S.
However, I suggest that the new drive is UJ840, but the Windows operating system recognizes this disk as a UJ831S because of the firmware.

I found this topic on the identification of bad player:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=10034&start=15

In this case, the drive was out of life, and he was replaced by another having the same properties.
I think that he is even on your laptop.

the satellite needs a power adapter 65W and 19V.
Your power adapter output performance is too large (75W), you should not use it to avoid damage to the satellite.
