cartridge of paths multiple LUN settings

Hi all

was wondering if a cartridge is to get this info in vfog 6.7?

or maybe someone has another way to get this info?

Thanks in advance.

  • Storage control IO to multiple LUNS on 1 table

    Yesterday I read on I/o control of storage in vSphere, and it seems logical to me. However, what has not been clarified is if/how it works when you multiple LUNS on the same table, and how you set it up in such a scenario.

    In our environment, we have 2 bays EqualLogic (PS100 and PS6000), with the array created as a single group with a little less of 7 TB of space in RAID 10.

    Most of our data is shared between 3 LUNs, 1 store our VDIs, the 2 other storage server VM, set up a single data store with a certain extent. (I'm trying to develop a plan to better distribute our virtual machines for a server) to get rid of the measure and 2) recover unused space (the server of virtual machines are only about 3 TB in size, but because of servers added and retired, takes more space on the San of 3.9 to).

    Thank you

    Each data store gets its own statistics IGCS, so each of them is controlled indepedently.

    using the advanced option when "change you data store" will allow you to separate the files to disc, or basic moves all disk files associated with the guest in question to the same LUN.

  • How to create the data store with multiple LUNS

  • Paths multiple settings for a specific LUN

    Hello

    I'm a workflow in Orchestrator automatically add a new data store in a cluster.

    This set works but I have set the parameters of Multipath for this specific to Round Robin on each host LUN.

    I created the code that affects all LUNS Round Robin, but it must be for this specific LUN only.

    Can someone help me with this?

    It's the current code I have:

    var mpp = new VcHostMultipathInfoLogicalUnitPolicy() ;
    mpp.policy = "VMW_PSP_RR";

    for each (var host in hosts) {
      for each (var lun in host.config.storageDevice.multipathInfo.lun) {
      var id = lun.id;
      host.configManager.storageSystem.setMultipathLunPolicy(id, mpp);
      }
    }

    I have the "naa", so I can do the check, but I can't do the "naa" of the multipathInfo.

    I tried to use:

    lun.lun.displayName

    lun.lun.canonicalName

    lun.lun.deviceName

    But it gives 'undefined' output

    Example of output:

    [11:12:18.346 2013-12-27] [D] LUN.id: 020003000060050768018086e430000000000003f1323134352020

    [11:12:18.346 2013-12-27] [D] LUN. MON: key - vim.host.ScsiDisk - 020003000060050768018086e430000000000003f1323134352020

    [11:12:18.346 2013-12-27] [D] LUN. LUN.displayName: undefined

    [11:12:18.346 2013-12-27] [D] LUN. LUN.canonicalName: undefined

    [11:12:18.346 2013-12-27] [D] LUN. LUN.deviceName: undefined

    Hello

    I can't get the details that you listed at the bottom of your message, too!

    But when you have a quick glance at the LUN ID you extracted, you can see that the naa.XXX is included in there.

    So I think it should be possible to extract this number, here is a small example of my environment:

    Lun.ID = 0200bf000060060e8016546b000001546b00006abf4f50454e2d56

    NAA = naa. 60060e8016546b000001546b00006abf

    Extraction:

    var myNaa = lun.id.slice(10,42);
    System.log("My Naa: naa." + myNaa);

    In your code, it might be something like this:

    var mpp = new VcHostMultipathInfoLogicalUnitPolicy() ;
    mpp.policy = "VMW_PSP_RR";
    for each (var host in hosts) {
      for each (var lun in host.config.storageDevice.multipathInfo.lun) {
        var id = lun.id;
        var myNaaExtract = lun.id.slice(10,42);
        if(myNaaExtract.search("60060e8016546b000001546b00006abf")!= -1) {
          System.log("Found the matching NAA...");
          host.configManager.storageSystem.setMultipathLunPolicy(id, mpp);
        }
      }
    }

    You may need to change the 'slice' to correspond with your table (using other numbers 10 and 42) and of course online 7 "id naa".

    I hope this helps for you...

    Kind regards

    Marc

  • Paths multiple parameters for RDM attached to ESXi 5 guests

    We are implementing a new SAN, an EMC VNX and have been advised by soing installation provider to set multiple paths for all devices to roundrobin.  Also advised it us to change the OPS are / s by default of 1000 to 1.  So I wrote a PowerCLI script to do this and everything works great.  I run the script every day to ensure that all new devices are replaced with the recommended settings.

    Yesterday when I ran the script, our attached SQL of VM with RDM server has started having huge disk latency issues.  As soon as we have changed the OPS are / default 1000 s, disk latency issues went away.  We could not find EMC information saying that RDM devices should have their IOPS / s set at 1000 or what their Multipathing parameters should (currently runnin on turnstile without no significant problem), but we found information from other storage vendors saying that we should go with the settings best practices of Microsoft at least the multi-pathing is set to MRU.

    Anyone out there has any information or advice on what we should do.  We will of course ensure that the OPS are / s for the RDM are set to 1000, but what are the recommendations for multiple paths of the RDM.

    See you soon

    Ant

    As a general rule, Multipathing for RDM must be the same as that of storage of data VMFS, with the exception of MSCS RDMs, which are required to be set multiple access paths, by VMware

    I'm going to guess in your case that you had a few LUNS of the questions that you should study the trespass (or get Powerpath/VE for your env and never worry about it again).

  • paths multiple ASM question

    I'm new in ASM would ask the following question:

    I use ASM which for a LUN (dm_0) and FRA as a LUN (dm_1), which comes from external SAN by using the paths were given multiple Oracle driver.

    The question is:

    will it be a case that in some situations, the reboot to say, the dm_x will be swapped (i.e., DATA-> dm_1) and FRA-> dm_0 so that the ASM is unable to find the right path?

    If so, what I need config, say multipath.conf, etc... to make the fixed mapping.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    Yes, it's quite possible that the name of the device dm will change after the restart. (Though in my case that's not dm_X dm - X).

    However as long as ASM is able to perceive all the LUNS (Discovery Channel), he needs access (and features dm has the appropriate permissions), the order is not important for the DSO. ASM will scan all disks and identify the drive with the disk header.

    Once again: only ensure that permission on dm used to ASM devices are set correctly and the necessary features dm - X can be found with the discovery of the ASM instance string. The rest will / can be handled by ASM.

  • See the number of paths per LUN by host

    Hello

    I saw so many scripts these days on how to check my connections of storage, but I still don't get the info for that I'm looking. I'd like to see for each host for each LUN (RDM / Datastore) the number of paths. I found scripts that show me the active paths, paths of deaths and work, but none of them helps me to see the number of paths for each host.

    The following Luke good script seems to be a good starting point, but again once it shows total by hba, that I need for each host per lun.

    $esx = get-VMHost vcdvm580.virtualcenter.lan

    foreach ($hba to (VMHostHba Get - VMHost $esx - type "FibreChannel")) {}

    $target = ((get - see $hba. VMhost). Config.StorageDevice.ScsiTopology.Adapter | where {$_.} Adapter - eq $hba. Key}). Goal

    $luns = get-ScsiLun - Hba $hba - LunType 'disk '.

    $nrPaths = ($target | % {$_.}) Lun.Count} | Measure - Object - sum). Sum

    Write-Host $hba. Device ' target: ' $target. County "devices:" $luns. County ' path: ' $nrPaths

    }

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Reporting on a privileged path to LUN

    PowerShell newbie question.

    My environment has several hundred ESX hosts, of which the majority is connected to EMC SAN storage. Each logic unit number has two active/active configured paths with the default value is Path Selection of Fixed (VMware).

    One of the paths is better I can find don't use the vSphere client and digging at each UNIT number, which given the number will take days so I thought I'd try and script. Thing, that's all I can manage to extract is the paths and the fact that they are fixed, but I can't extract that path is preferred.

    Someone at - it an idea?

    Thank you

    P.S spent about 2 days of trawling the Internet and there are a lot of files on the definition of the preferred path but none on the receipt of such information in the first place.

    Try it like this

    {foreach ($esx in Get-VMHost)

    foreach ($lun in (Get-ScsiLun - VMHost $esx)) {}

    Get-ScsiLunPath - ScsiLun $lun | `

    Select @{N = 'Host'; E = {$esx. Name}},@{N="LUN '; E = {$lun. CanonicalName}}, LunPath, favorite

    }

    }

  • Policy path defined LUN

    We are doing a migration of SAN and therefore affect all current LUN MRU. Currently some of the paths are fixed and accompany the round robin, according to the SAN LUN device. As all storage hosts will now be on one device I need a script to set policies to MRU. Would this work?

    SE connect-VIServer-Server X - X user - password X

    {foreach ($hostx in get-vmhost)

    $hostview = get-views $hostx

    $storageSystem = get - see $hostview. ConfigManager.StorageSystem

    $policy = new-object VMware.Vim.HostMultipathInfoLogicalUnitPolicy

    $policy.policy = "MostRecentlyUsed".

    $storageSystem.StorageDeviceInfo.MultipathInfo.lun | foreach {$storageSystem.SetMultipathLunPolicy ($_.ID, $policy)}

    }

    It works, but why not use the cmdlet Set-ScsiLun with the parameter - MultipathPolicy.

    Get-VMHost | %{
      $_ | Get-ScsiLun -LunType Disk | Set-ScsiLun -MultipathPolicy "MostRecentlyUsed"
    }

  • Conslidating multiple LUNS in a single lun without data loss

    I have original started with 2-50 GB LUN as drive C and D for a virtual machine.  Since then, we have had some problems with the virtual machine and wishes to consolidate the LUN down to one 100 GB LUN with a partition C and D.

    I think that I should just clone the virtual machine through to store 100 GB data and the value of the c: 50BG then attach the drive D: current LUN and copy files to your new partition. This will be a thing of your time if this idea works and I have to repeat the process on multiple machines.

    Has anyone found a better way to run this process by cloning or svmotion?

    Thanks for the help.

    So you created 2 50 GB LUN on your San with the VMDK for C on a LUN and the VMDK for others the lun or have you created 2 50 GB VMDK for the virtual machine in a data store?

    If you have found this helpful at all prices please points using the correct or useful!  Thank you!

  • Multiple LUNs to fixed and by specifying the PerferredPath

    Hello community.

    I need back my LUN to fixed and spesify the perferred path.

    I can't seem to get the command works.

    Get-VMhost | Get-scsilun "lunname | Game-ScsiLun - 'fixed' MultiPathPolicy - PerFerredPath 'path '.

    The line works very well on RoundRobin and SRM. But when I insert 'Fixed' I appeal to a Perferredpath, it accepts no witch.

    Any bounced to where I do not see?

    C

    Maybe it's just a typo in the thread, but the setting is - PreferredPath, non - PerferredPath.

    The string you give as the path more resembles a SanId for me.

    Are you sure this is the value that you see in the LunPath property after

    Get-VMHost  | Get-ScsiLun -CanonicalName  | Get-ScsiLunPath | select *

  • How to span multiple LUNS on one (or less) data store (s) in Vmware ESXi 4.1 vSphere environment?

    Hey guys -.

    I currently have 2 hosts ESXi (version 4.1u3), 1 vCenter Server and 1 EMC VNXe3300 SAN (20 to via iSCSI) that make my virtual environment.

    On the EMC is, you create VMware Datastores (which have a limit of 2 TB) then connect these data storage to VMware ESXi hosts.  Once logged in, would continue it the process through the Add Storage Wizard via VMware to connect the disk/LUN storage via iSCSI.  Ultimately, the Lun (s) would then be accessed through the virtual environment (in the Configuration > storage > data warehouses) as generally expected.

    Due to the limit of 2 TB (both on the CEM, Version of VMware and VMFS3) on data warehouses, I find myself with having several data warehouses being created on the side of the EMC and VMware (see photo) appearance.  I know that's not rectifiable via CEM level, but I was wondering if there was any way for me to bring together all these data stores on the side of things VMware.  This way rather than navigate to Configuration > storage > data warehouses and separate iSCSI indicator 6 data warehouses, it would just be a (or more, but less than the existing) data store; It would then extend in all actual data stores that I would.

    I don't know what the appropriate terminology is used to describe it, but I hope someone can help me to what I want to achieve.  Or at the very least, can you please steer me in the right direction.  If this isn't something that can be achieved or it is discouraged, what are the other options which would be recommended?

    Thanks for the help.
