  using the advanced option when "change you data store" will allow you to separate the files to disc, or basic moves all disk files associated with the guest in question to the same LUN.

  Tonight I was check my Microsoft color management system and made a demonstration of calibration results. I run a laptop.

  I do this in preparation to rework some of my photographic images in preparation for printing from a site selling products online of art which I am a member. ICC color profiles and so on was my reading today on the internet - Phew!

  In any case, I made a mistake. I had downloaded a profile soft proofing (zip file, I scanned with my anti-virus and that's okay). However, I had not checked out files.

  While I was still in the color management, I clicked on the Add button to add this profile soft proofing, and when I finally found the file and clicked on it once, I got the message: "the storage control blocks were destroyed." Does OK, no information on what to do.

  Then, I went on the internet and do a Bing search and found that it is supposed to be an indication that there is corrupted system files. And, later, I'm a little lost as to what to do.  I didn't run any programs to solve this problem, even ' tho there is something called RepairImage.exe. I decided to come here instead, go to the source. Any help please? Thank you.

  Have you tried to start the computer in safe mode? If so, what was the result? Was question still persists in safe mode?

  Safe MODE: open and used two programs I normally use, and they recorded the changes that I made for them. In clean boot mode, I could see these changes had "taken."

  I tried to calibrate a screen, but only got the following message:

  Red X: display color calibration

  Display color calibration can not calibrate the selected screen [which is my LAPTOP LCD flat screen] because it cannot determine whether the display is in 'mirror', which means that the office is duplicated and show on different screens. Calibration of the color screen cannot calibrate a screen reflected.

  What has been the result of clean boot?

  Starting in MINIMAL MODE: the system enabled me to follow up to completion with screen calibrate (although I didn't want to load the profile of different color referred to in my original post). There is no messages of any kind.

  Re-started in Normal startup mode.

  What can I say? I tried not to make a screen calibrate mode.

  Re views 'mirrored' - I had recently a problem with my Optus Mobile Broadband, which is connected to my PC via a dongle, and the person that I spoke on the phone asked me, and I said yes, although normally I'm not agree to such a thing, remote connect to my PC while we were both on the phone; in other words, a type of Assistance Remote Desktop connection where he was responsible for what was happening on my PC. I could see what he was doing, of course, but not what was going on behind the black screen in the background.

  The program that was used to do this is called LogMeIn, lmi.exe. I have removed this program once we had finished and made sure my Services have been in the appropriate configuration. However, there are now two other installed programs with respect to the service - hwdservice.exe and ouc.exe. And the Optus program is set to automatic in the Services. Previously, it was manual. This has fixed the problem (intermittent network connectivity).

  I wonder if it could have been the cause of this current calibrate display problem.

  I will presume that rebooting the system Safe Mode and clean boot has authorized, on the matter.

  I use a trial version of the Pro Workstation 12.1.1 on Windows 10. I seem to have a strange problem where the DHCP service does not start.

  I tried to go into the virtual network editor and then restore the default settings, which had no effect.

  The event viewer displays the following text:

  CreateFile Version ioctl(): VMnet8 (327680 393216): the operation completed successfully.

  / The storage control block address is invalid

  Checked the service and it runs under a local, verified system account permissions on the config dhcp / rental file in c:\programdata\vmware\ and both have system configured to full control. I tried to run the vmnetdhcp.exe in a command prompt to we hope to get additional information, but cannot be executed directly. I can't figure out how to get out of documented logging dhcp server in order to track down what could be the culprit.

  I tried to uninstall workstation, restart, reinstall, restart both unsuccessfully. I had version 9 workstation that was installed previously, in which the trial upgrade.

  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

  Figured it out.

  It appears during the workstation installation 9, he placed vmnetdhcp and vmnetnat in c:\windows\syswow64 folder. Pro 12 workstation puts these files in the default directory (C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware workstation). The service was always pointing to the old location even SysWow64 after an uninstall and reinstall.

  I replaced the files SysWow64 folder workstation and services started right up.

  Checked the work by selecting NAT and gets an IP address from the host machine.

• Best way to control and enforcement multiples (up to 20) deals independently in LV

  Hi all

  I am building an application in BT to control independently and methods of running multiple (up to 20), i.e., it should be able to start and stop one of the processes at a given time. What would be the best way to code for this? On the top of my head would be to use a single notification utility for controlling each process, but I think that maintenance of code can be a handful with this number of reporters being defined. Are there more effective ways to do this?

  This nugget is launching several threads and slap them with Occurences. Convert this example on notifiers and you good to go shouldb.

• How to span multiple LUNS on one (or less) data store (s) in Vmware ESXi 4.1 vSphere environment?

  I currently have 2 hosts ESXi (version 4.1u3), 1 vCenter Server and 1 EMC VNXe3300 SAN (20 to via iSCSI) that make my virtual environment.

  On the EMC is, you create VMware Datastores (which have a limit of 2 TB) then connect these data storage to VMware ESXi hosts.  Once logged in, would continue it the process through the Add Storage Wizard via VMware to connect the disk/LUN storage via iSCSI.  Ultimately, the Lun (s) would then be accessed through the virtual environment (in the Configuration > storage > data warehouses) as generally expected.

  Due to the limit of 2 TB (both on the CEM, Version of VMware and VMFS3) on data warehouses, I find myself with having several data warehouses being created on the side of the EMC and VMware (see photo) appearance.  I know that's not rectifiable via CEM level, but I was wondering if there was any way for me to bring together all these data stores on the side of things VMware.  This way rather than navigate to Configuration > storage > data warehouses and separate iSCSI indicator 6 data warehouses, it would just be a (or more, but less than the existing) data store; It would then extend in all actual data stores that I would.

  I don't know what the appropriate terminology is used to describe it, but I hope someone can help me to what I want to achieve.  Or at the very least, can you please steer me in the right direction.  If this isn't something that can be achieved or it is discouraged, what are the other options which would be recommended?

• Storage won't increase, extended LUN

  Hi, so I'm having a weird problem. We need to increase the size of one of our data warehouses. I've done this process several times before and never had a problem. I increased a LUN on the SAN of 700 GB GB 825. I re-read my adapters on the hosts. When I click on the data store and click on properties of Configuration-> storage on the host, I see the following.

  

  VMware can see so clearly that the storage is here. However when I click on the increase, it does not show the additional space.

  

  I tried a new analysis of many times, no change. I was able to expand a different LUN and extend the data store from this same SAN in the meantime successfully, so clearly, that there is nothing wrong with this side of things. I increased the storage on that store of data a few times before, but nowhere nearly 32 times, which I understand is the maximum number of extensions (this is a VMFS-5 data store).

  Anyone has any ideas or should I open a case of pension?

  With the increase in the data store, you made only resize the partition.  Extensions (32 degrees you mentioned) were necessary front of vSphere 4 or for data storage > 2 TB with VMFS3, where you resized data warehouses by adding additional LUNS (extensions).

  Anyway, try to increase the store of data by connecting to a ESXi host directly instead of vCenter Server to see if it works.

• Multiple LUNS

  We are currently testing vmotion in our environment and I have 2 questions.

  1. to vmotion between two hosts, they must both be of the same version of Vmware? We have a 5.1 and a host 4.1 that we would like to use vmotion with.

  2. in our test scenario, the host 5.1 is new with only a guest device installed on vcenter. 4.1 host has a few guests the production running on it with an existing SAN LUNS configured. Can we present a host 4.1 to allow additional tests with the 5.1 host LUN?

  TJ,

  vMotion requires two hosts to have access to the LUNS at the same time.  Handles of ESXi, which has a lock on the file.

  EMC launches this error because a standard installation would be to have both ESXi hosts in the same storage group.  That's how I would set up well.  You must however.

  Generally the responsibility of a team of storage is to provide space for guests and make sure they can meet the space and I/O requirements. creating a virtual machine is usually done by the administration of VMware.

  Basic information the storage team is the needs of WWN (in the case of FC storage) or IP addresses and s iqn (in the case of iSCSI) to set up the hosts. In addition to this the high need know that it is a VMware environment. According to the storage systems, hosts must be defined with the appropriate operating system that uses the LUN. Once the hosts are configured, all you have to do is to tell the storage team what LUN size you need, who is hosting the LUN must be submitted and probably the input/output expected for the VM running on this LUN, so that they can make the decision for example RAID levels a hierarchy...

• Conslidating multiple LUNS in a single lun without data loss

  I have original started with 2-50 GB LUN as drive C and D for a virtual machine.  Since then, we have had some problems with the virtual machine and wishes to consolidate the LUN down to one 100 GB LUN with a partition C and D.

  I think that I should just clone the virtual machine through to store 100 GB data and the value of the c: 50BG then attach the drive D: current LUN and copy files to your new partition. This will be a thing of your time if this idea works and I have to repeat the process on multiple machines.

  Has anyone found a better way to run this process by cloning or svmotion?

  So you created 2 50 GB LUN on your San with the VMDK for C on a LUN and the VMDK for others the lun or have you created 2 50 GB VMDK for the virtual machine in a data store?

  I know it's possible, but is there any reference to it is not not a good idea for a particular reason? Is there loss of features or performance?

  I don't think there is a right or wrong answer here regarding the placement of VMDK.  I agree with what others have said about her becomes more complicated when you across several data VMFS stores VMDK.  But having said that there are good reasons why you can spread them out.  You can store files to boot OS on disk volumes and slower data for servers in high performance like SQL and Exchange on a higher level of storage for example.

  Another thing to keep in mind - if I remember correctly, by default a snapshot for a virtual machine with VMDK in several stores data is stored in the location where the first VMDK was created.  It is important to understand how snapshots can become very large, if you're not careful, and you could accidentally fill a LUN, and take a number of VMs.  I believe you can make a change to the VMX to change the location where the snapshot files are stored so you can look into that as well.

• 'Control' key for multiple selections

  I use 2 merger and can not get the Mac keyboard keys 'Control' (right or left) to behave like windows 'Ctrl' key to make multiple selections. A touch of 'control' behaves like a right-click and does not mark a selection. I also tried the Mac "command" key, but this fact is to open the start menu. I've searched the forums and all I can find are posts which is advised to disable the checkbox 'Activate mouse Mac OS shortcuts' in the preferences of the merger. This box was already unchecked so I need another option. Can someone point me in the right direction?

  I have no problem with a Windows normal ctrl-click to select several objects when my from VMware Fusion preferences are defined as in the image below.  Note: IIRC it is a bug if you have changed the default key mappings with the CTRL key, and if yes, then you must restore the default value under key mappings.
