    Hello

I have a Java Applet that access using smartcardio smart cards.

The cmdlet works in Windows 7, XP, Ubuntu Linux and MacOS 10.6 with no problems. However, in Windows Vista, it has serious performance issues. It still works and all the operations I need, no exception is thrown at any time, but, while in other systems of exploitation of all data on card operations takes 2 seconds in Vista, it takes like 2 minutes.

    Any idea about it?

You have logging/tracing in your applet to confirm that the performance issue is during the show?

If this is the case, it could be many things. It could be the drivers for the drive. It could be the implementation of smart card services in Vista. It could be the version of PC/SC (winscard.dll) in Vista.

You can try to use a native tool to send the crude APDU on a map (or even a simple Java test harness) to see if it is related to the race as a both applet and to refine the where the problem is.

Can someone help me with this.
My laptop is a new Satellite Pro A120-185 with Windows Vista.

I had my last configuration less portable, but you know what? He was faster!

I'm supposed to have cetrino duo 2, 2 GHz and cach of 4 MB, FSB 667 MHz, RAM 1 GB, even though they are at 533 MHz, 100 GB 5400 RPM HARD drive / MIN.

It is slow, not only starting, programs opening, plays something, the browser and even to copy from the CD to the hard drive sometimes give me time 4 days left!

Clicking on something takes forever. What's wrong?
Need less to say that with vista no and I mean none, of my devices are busy. Dongle Bluetooth, USB disk, printer, NAS, and and...

    Hey dude,

Please don t forget that Vista has been installed on your laptop and the additional tools of Toshiba and the utilities that control many additional features!
There is a huge difference between Vista and early Microsoft operating systems.

The Vista eat computer resources and many devices old don t work or cannot be installed because the 3rd device manufacturers don t provide Vista drivers!

In my opinion an upgrade to 2 GB ram would increases the performance of laptop.
All programs and utilities could be loaded more quickly

  • Windows VISTA problems with ".exe" files

I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium, 64-bit, SP2 on a HP Pavilion desktop computer. Recently developed a problem when you try to run any file with an ".exe" extension results in a window asking to "choose the application I want to use to open the file" or "this file has no program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the control panel to define the Associations. " Any ideas?

    Hello
This problem occurs when your .exe file associations are broken. This is usually caused by a virus/malware that changes the default file associations in Windows. Follow these instructions to resolve this problem:
Download exeHelper from one of these two links: link 1, link 2 double click on exeHelper to run the fix. A black window should appear. Once the patch is finished, press any key to close.
Then try following the steps in this virus/malware removal guide: http://www.selectrealsecurity.com/malware-removal-guide

Also, tried "last good configuration" but nothing is.

Try to repair windows with the repair disk. but no joy once again, by looking at the details of the diagnosis and repair, it shows repair stalled when the event log diagnostic testing.  It will not accomplish this test, even after leaving during the night.

Also tried to go back to a restore point, but because it is new, it doesn't show any restore points that were to restore the system back.

No backup available or go to restore.

Memory Diagnostic test has been successful.

Ran sfc/scannow to command prompt, is back with "start scanning system.  This process will take time. "A few seconds later says"Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation. »

  • Windows Vista problems wireless on laptop

First of all thanks in advance to anyone who can help me solve this problem. It really starts to drive me crazy. I have a laptop HP under Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, I built in adapter wireless and until a year ago it was working fine. I used a public WiFi access point, and I honestly think it crashed my adapter because it has never worked since. At the time I didn't it was something important.
I can be right next to a wireless router (at home) and a laptop shows excellent signal and my HP link see the strength... until I hit... Then he throws a "Windows cannot connect to"
I click on diagnose the problem and told me "Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive response from the access point or wireless router.
I am looking for the extra wireless and it shows the same thing but this time one that I want to connect to is now the low signal strength... I tried a signal booster and I have tweeked every setting I can think. I'm lost. Here is a partial of my ipconfig and my all in the event log. 1. Unplug the router and the modem.
    2. Wait 30 seconds.
    3. Plug in the modem and wait for it to come to the ready state.
    4. Plug in the router.

After you put cycle check the connection between the router and the computer wireless.

If the steps above do not help, try resetting the stack TCP/IP go to this article and either click on "Fix it for me" or follow the instructions to fix it yourself:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357

    Disable the IP helpdesk:
1 hold the Windows key and type R, type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press enter
    2. scroll down to the IP assistance service, right-click on it and select Properties
    3. in the drop-down list box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to disabled and then click 'apply '.
    4. then click on "Stop" to stop the service from running in the current session
    5. click on OK to exit the dialog box

Disable IPv6 and remove IPv6 virtual cards:

Try to uninstall IPv6 on all interfaces, the removal of virtual cards of IPv6 and reset the TCP/IP stack. To remove the IPv6, go to the properties for each network adapter, and deselect the check box next to the Protocol "Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6), which will turn off, or select it and click on uninstall, which withdraw power off the computer.» Then go into Device Manager and remove any 4to6 adapters, adapters miniport WUN or tunnel adapters.
NOTE: You should do this for each network connection, even if they are disabled.

    Disable the DHCP Broadcast Flag:
    Link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233
Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756.  How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or some non-Microsoft DHCP servers

To resolve this issue, disable the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows Vista. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the list programs.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    4 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ {GUID}
    5. in this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network.
    6. on the Edit menu, point to new, and then click DWORD (32-bit) value.
    7. in the new area #1, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle and press ENTER.
    8. right click on DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, then click on modify.
    9. in the value data box, type 1 and then click OK.
    10. close the registry editor.

By setting this registry key to 1, Windows Vista's trying to get an IP address using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets. If that fails, he will try to obtain an IP address without using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets.
You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for the wireless card.

I hope this helps. Let us know the results.

  • Windows Vista problems and DVD

I got in trouble for awhile with my DVD RW
I can read and write the cdroms.  I can write on DVD without using any additional software but windows.  I can not read or read that DVD software or movies, including software to reinstall windows vista.
I asked here several times for help and decided to restore the computer to factory settings.
Then, I followed closely ALL the following:

    *****************

The CD drive or the DVD drive does not work as expected on a computer that you upgraded to Windows Vista

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). Therefore, it is not unusual for 1 or 2 rooms with not so work that others do it properly.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are some registry entries
that the troubleshooter does not, and those who "could" be the cause.

Check with your system manufacturer Maker and device for possible firmware updates and the good
    Your player registry entries.

Here are the keys in my opinion, are those in question - for the reader of CD/DVD subkeys of course that he will be

  • KB2296011 causes the blank screen in Windows Vista Home Premium?

I'm troubleshooting an issue with an installation of Windows Vista Home Premium on a laptop. After Tuesday October 12 updates, the laptop goes to a blue screen after authentication with any account. There is a mobile cursor mouse, but nothing else. C/a. gives the menu, but "Start Task Manager" has no effect, restart will only work.

I am able to login normally mode without failure. Remove the update KB2296011 removes the problem, I narrowed down it to only this update. It is now necessary to restart and use system restore to go back before this particular update to access Windows.

I did the following to troubleshoot:

    (1) I tried to install the system update tool, which had no effect.

    (2) I tried to install the KB2296011 update manually after downloading, the problem returns after installing.

    (3) I tried to install the KB2296011 update manually mode without failure by another post here, but this is not possible, which gives the following error: "Windows Update Standalone Installer: Installer encountered an error: 0x8007043c.»  This service cannot be started in Mode safe. »

It seems up to present have no way to obtain this update to install without the origin of the white screen issue. Please advice, thank you.

OK, it looks like at this will be my last post.

This technician seems to address the issue much differently from the rest. After the things we have done in my previous post, he seems convinced that the problem occurs when this security update is installed, it thinks it's UAC which is damaged, and possibly other files. If its resolution suggested the problem is to run a repair on Vista installation, in order to repair potentially damaged or corrupted files. This would correspond well with hijackware theory posted earlier, too.

It seems door by another symptom not reported to me or noticed until now. With or without UAC enabled, standard users cannot connect. It passes the connection, in the preparation of your office for a disconnection. Administrative users can connect very well. As the primary user of the machine is an administrator (of course!), this was not noticed until I created a Standard user to test and found this problem.

I hope than a repair installation (or even better, an upgrade, as I prefer to simply wipe the HD and start over) will solve the problem. The machine has 2 GB of RAM and a 2 GHz dual core chip, so I think it can handle very well (my wife does mobile) Win7.

I hope that all of this novel, we have written here will help others as well.

    Hi joelbelot

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Answers.

To install Windows Vista Service Pack 1, you must have Windows Vista installed on your computer.  This Service Pack is not designed for Windows XP.
