  Your best bet would be looking for writers to mp3/wave. There are a few very good freeware/shareware sound there. I suggest this so that you can choose what format you want to save your file cropped as.

  With a used computer, regardless of its origin, recommended is to do a clean install of Windows.   First, disconnect all the external devices connected to the computer, and then try to start and check what is happening.
