Ccsvchst.exe file is infected.

The performance of my pc are very poor and I now get the message "Application cannot be run. Ccsvchst.exe file is infected. Please activate your antivirus software. This happened after I opened an email that had a virus as a ploy to get me to buy a specific anti-virus program. How can I get rid of this antivirus for free.

Hello

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run
the regular windows when you can.

After the end of the support session, I finally restarted my system and encountered an error on my configuration utility being in a State of diagnosis, then that I should put it in a normal mode and restart again.  I noticed that it had disabled the start of my services.  I selected a normal startup and restarted.

The list file you most often is a process associated with Norton 360. However, malware is sometimes assumed the names of the legitimate files in order to deceive the end user. Norton is a Devourer of known system and as a result, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he is a legitimate file in your case. However, I recommend you download, to update and scan with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, just to be sure. If the scans do not detect the file and the problem persists I would contact Norton or remove Norton making sure to use the tool to uninstall do.

I was downloading addons for a game on the internet and then later the next time I turned on my computer, it said I was missing the csrss.exe file and so I searched for it looking to see if I somehow accidentally moved and he didn't so I was wondering if there is anyway I might get this file without reformat my computer and reinstall windows xp

This confirms my suspicions you have (or had) malware. This version of csrss.exe is for service Pack 2 of Windows XP.
You really need to run MBAM.
But despite this, if you run at the SP2 level, it is unclear what might make its way onto your PC. There are some out there extremely difficult to detect rootkits. You find you might need to perform a clean installation. If you would rather fight infection, you can always look for guided help:

This problem occurs when one or more of the following conditions are met:
    • The registry values that are associated with the file name extension are corrupted or missing values.
    • The computer is infected with a virus.

Follow the steps listed in the article given below to resolve this issue:

I can open these types of files under other users account on this computer. Help please.

I suggest that you create a new user account for yourself (save all your files first of all that I hope are not damaged etc.). Then, you delete the old user account (but keep the files). Probably most of the programs have been installed for all users, so it should not be (I hope) a problem.

Recently had to clean a computer infected with one of these software etc. rogue security and creating a new account (Administrator) so that the user has finished up and transfer its files to the new account. He was lucky. I hope you are too.

Perhaps others may have other suggestions for you.
