  Excuse me, I know that I posted earlier but I accidentally hit the wrong button and it says has answered my question and it was not. I had a virus on my computer and it was cleaned professionally.   On google, there are a few reports of this error message and I couldn't find any that it is resolved. I hope that someone else will be "the chip" with a solution. I'm sorry.

  There are some media player FixIt who might want to try (I have not had your specific problem and Ive not run the FixIt so can't say for sure).

  You can try things like a SFC/scannow , that can help, but I doubt it. I guess it depends on what the virus.

  You could check that the virus is actually went in downloading, installing, free update (update in the Admin) and running a scan with Malwarebytes , but if it was 'cleaned professionally"should be deleted. But unfortunately things that his attack can still be altered.

  You could try a test, to create a new user account 'test' and the connection through that to see if WMP works from this account. for example, it can be your user profile that has been damaged. If this account works WMP then migrate your data everywhere...

  If all goes well, a WMP expert will come to the rescue.

ID.  I had to change because it used my old e-mail DEAD, so I changed it to my current email address).  Everything was fine until recently.  Now, for some reason stupid iBooks requires Apple ID check on purchases of old that used my OLD Apple ID, before I open it upwards.  The file is not one of them on iCloud is on my computer, but it will not open. I have about 20 books purchased with my Apple ID OLD.  When I try to connect my OLD Apple ID, I get a message to Apple that it no longer exists.  That's why I'm in a "Catch 22": I can't open any OLD books in iBooks, because he needs to check my OLD Apple ID, but now, there is no and I can't do another Apple with the same name ID, since I already have one, and I can't delete my current Apple ID because that would really open up a "Pandora's box".  Help!  IS THERE A WAY TO WORK AROUND THIS STUPID PROBLEM!

  I generated a PDF of markdown by Pandoc (with xelatex as the tex engine); the PDF document contains hyperlinks URLS. One of hyperlinks is a specific address of DOI: doi:10.2307 / 488160. In Adobe Acrobat Reader, this link accurately opens in Firefox (my default browser) and is then solved using a DOI Manager that I have in firefox. Overview, however, will not open the link. When you click, you get just that boing sound error.

  I believe this may have to do with the security aspects of preview that are cooked in the program - what kind of overview is able to open external files.   If this isn't a connected safety side overview, is it possible to adjust preferences overview way treats the links that start by "doi:"? Other ideas.

  Note: I know there is a better way to include the Doi in Tex docs (with the DOI package) as the starting URL by "doi:" but I like to keep my Markdown as clearly readable as possible and does not markup inside latex. I might add a Pandoc filter for this - but I would rather understand the problem of this end if possible.

  This address SHOULD you present is only the persistent identifier. To make a connection, precede the string with the http://dx.doi.org/ url so that your example is http://dx.doi.org/10.2307/488160

  Basically, the url is a program of resolution. By including a DOI link, there is no need for the Manager/addon Firefox DOI. You can have the text that is displayed differs from the URL. In other words, the manuscript shows doi:10.2307/488160 but the underlying url link is http://dx.doi.org/10.2307/488160

  Firefox automatically updated today, and I restarted the browser. Or at least tried to. the process runs in the background, but the browser itself will not open at all. I am running Windows 7, and it seems, in the bar of windows, as if its going to open, but it's fading. When I went to uninstall it said that it was still running.
