CD/DVD drive suddenly not recognized - under Vista Ultimate.

I have a HP Pavilion running Vista Ultimate.  Recently it stopped recognizing my cd/dvd drive.  The regedit procedure does not help, because I have no UpperFilter registry entry.  Where should I go next?  Is there a link that will take me to more useful information?  I don't know how to get instructions for regedit go to "next steps". Thank you!

What is the link you are looking for?

  • Re: CD/DVD drive is not recognized correctly on my Equium P200

I recently bought a laptop P200D and now, I found that the CD/DVD drive is not recognized.

In Device Manager the drive icon has a yellow on exclamation and in the wealthy area it says "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) »

I tried uninstalling the drive and then to restart the laptop but it is has not been successful. I recently downloaded and installed the Service Pack 1 for Vista and I have read that there have been problems with device drivers and wonder if there is such a body?

Are there updated drivers available for this device?

Download XP_CD-DVD - Fix.zip and save this file on your hard drive. Navigate to where you saved it, and double-click the file to extract the content. Find the EXE file that you extracted and double click it.  A confirmation dialog box appears when the script is done.  You may need to reboot for the change to take effect.

Works on XP and Vista. Good luck!

    Hi Paul,.

You don't say what model of laptop you have, but generally speaking if you are using Windows XP then you will use the standard Microsoft drivers for your scanner.

However, you can Toshiba drivers and utilities download from Toshiba web site by clicking on the Support section and downloads and selection of files to download. You will need to fill in the details of your laptop so that the list of appropriate driver (unless you have provided these details when you register).

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or

I tried to remove some old software using the Control Panel, uninstall.  Uninstaller has partially and I got the "Error 1327.Invalid Drive: G:\. "When I reconnected it my drive hard Seagate he came as drive E:\ and my NERO account came as NERO (F).  The E:\ and F:\ use my optical drive names.

I lost my CD and my readers of DVD-RW/CD-RW drive.  They are not recognized by my computer at all.  Now, my computer is useless, because I can't use readers for entry.

When I tried the CMD, subst C:\ G: the answer came back no such aminal.  When I uninstalled my two optical drives and restarted my computer, it came back and said optical drive installation failed because the drivers were corrupt.  I can't install the new drivers because my optical drives do not exist.  Should I consider a sledge hammer or staple for repair, or?

    Hello
You can try a system restore to a prior restore point you have been affected by the issue.
Note: when you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
To run the system restore, you can see the following link.

Please check in the Device Manager to see if there's anything showing against your CD-ROM drive. If your CD-ROM is always displayed, you should be able to run the process of troubleshooting against it to check for possible errors.

If your CD-ROM is more listed and then launch the 'Scan for hardware changes' option to see if it detects your CD-ROM.

Well, usually if the CD/DVD drive doesn t appear in the BIOS or BIOS cannot recognize the ODD then chances are that the CD/DVD drive is malfunctioning.

But the best way to check this is a new installation of the OS. You should try to boot from a bootable XP CD.
If the laptop would be able to boot from the CD, then the material is ok.

  • Duplex not recognized under Vista 64-bit printing accessory

I recently had to replace my old computer with an HP Pavilion a6700f running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - bit SP1.

I got my 7410 HP all-in-One printer connected and operating, the latest software HP installed and checked for updated drivers, firmware or Windows updates to date. Everything is up-to-date.

However, my two-sided printing accessory is not recognized. I tried to do an update of the parameters, but the accessory does not appear in the drop-down menus.

I learned by HP Technical Support that it is a Windows problem, but I can't quite believe that even Microsoft would come out an operating system does not recognize the material of the major manufacturer.

Is that what everyone knows about this problem? Is this really a Windows glitch?  If so, is there a workaround solution that will allow me to do automatic duplex printing?

Can someone tell me with certainty where to save the file?

You just need to save the DPG file to a temporary location.  Folder is the location for temporary files of the system, it refers to a directory.  If for some reason it doesn't, you can do the following to the administrative command prompt:

    mkdir c:\temp

    [save the gpd c:\temp\hpo7x00t.gpd]

    then in the copy command:

  • DVD drive is not recognized by my laptop

I tried giving it a system restore has tried a few progr repair windows powershell and nothing happened

You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you should you do to at least DVD player and all you have time to do - they help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

I didn't know that Powershell did not have for Vista.  Make sure that you didn't install the software for XP and if so, delete it immediately.

    I hope this helps.
