USB drives suddenly not recognized by Vista 64 SP2

2 USB drives that work on another machine to Vista (32-bit) are not recognized and do not appear in my computer, but appear in 'remove hardware safely '. These USB drives has worked in my computer up to a week or 2 ago.
When the disks are inserted a new item will appear in device ("storage volume") Manager who has a subelement ('generic volume') which has a yellow "!" which indicates a bad driver.
The readers appear in disk management, but any attempt to change the drive letter or view properties gives an error "operation has not completed.
Try to reinstall the drivers results in a message that the drivers are current, but the problem persists

Hello

Control controllers Control Panel - Device Manager - USB Serial - USB mass storage devices (you can have
more than one - If Yes check all) - double click on the driver tab - click Driver Details - the default is
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\USBSTOR. SYS (the C:\Windows is where you installed windows
If not C:\Windows\) you can't have one for your car if it not recognized - when it is recognized
and if doesn't work does not correctly return to this step.

Check again once you advance through them.

now go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers in the category, but the category itself.

Here is the similar procedure under XP, Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific device if present.

  • Art of STOR E external 1.5 TB hard drive is not recognized by Vista

I have a HARD drive that I brought in Europe, it was working fine and all of a sudden when I turn it on, is now telling me one of the devices USB has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize.

I can hear the HDD spining, and you can feel the playhead to move when you turn it on, would that be a driver or a firmware issue?

I have a lot of backup data about it as I can't afford to lose, then it would remove and put it directly into my computer to see if I can read it?

    > I can hear the HDD spining, and you can feel the playhead to move when you turn it on, would that be a driver or a firmware issue?

You can try to connect to any other computer external HARD drive. If it would not then he s seems to be hardware problem.
Of course, it is s to connect the HARD drive directly to a HARD drive controller to see if the BIOS recognizes the HARD drive maybe it would be your last resort

  • Satellite L10 - battery not recognized by Vista MS

    Hello

I use MS Vista on my Satellite L10 and everything works great except my battery which is not recognized by Vista. There is just an unknown device in my equipment manager. In the section on the homepage Toshiba drivers I couldn't find a driver or other instructions. The MS Hotline told me this isn't their but question Toshibas.

I hope that this forum is someone who can help me solve the problem. I just want to know if my battery has enough power for 20 minutes or 2 hours and I really hate it if my laptop is suddenly out of power.

    Thanks in advance.
    Christoph

    Hello

You have installed Vista on the L10?
Wow I know Satellite L10 is not Vista capable and you should be happy that this OS works without big worries on this Satellite phone.

However, I recommend the Vista update to the last State, to install the compatible chipset from Intel page.

But I assume that the BIOS on this laptop is not fully Vista capable that this question therefore appears on the L10.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
