  What you see in the drive properties in Device Manager has to do with drivers and the drive configuration, not the real state 'physical' the reader.

  To be honest, this sounds ridiculous but if you get a message, I suppose it could be possible even if I find it incredible.  Do you have it in a (local or online) retail store or Toshiba?  By any chance did you upgrade from the DVD player when buying (where they may have accidentally neglected to update the drivers of the drive that was originally installed)?

I was literally looking at the plugin page and I saw 17.0.9.18 and I arrived just to scroll to the bottom of the page where he showed another application like 17.0.9.18. Guess what he listed as.   If you use your iMac as a backup to disk using Time Machine look for a folder called Backups.backupdb.

  It's what keeps you upgraded your operating system, you must remove it.

  Copy everything first if you are on a different drive. It would be wise to create a backup of the iMac on another drive also.

  Check system preferences > Time Machine and make sure that the iMac is not selected as the Time Machine drive.

  I think one of the problems might be that my Windows partition has replaced the C: drive where was the OSX partition. I tried to move the Windows operating system on a drive b or e :), but it won't let me. Let me know if this could be a problem too.
