I have an iMac 24 inch (mid-2007) with Mac OS installed 10.6.8. I just installed a new HD, I have to reinstal of Mac OS X. I am to the 10.5.8 level using my cdrom. How can I upgrade?

    Thank you.

The upgrade to 10.5.8 requires using a disc; It is generally a retail DVD of Snow Leopard. It can be purchased on the Apple Online Store.

Update since 10.6.8 is possible by downloading El Capitan, or redownloading a BONE you obtained previously from the Mac App Store or by purchasing a download code for Lion or Lion of the mountains on the Apple Store online.

  • Portege 3940ct OS upgrade to function disabling Lan of XPSP2-Driver issues

I have canvassed all discussions on this forum (and others) and have not found a solution to my problem. But, its obvious that major thinkers on Toshiba laptop configuration problems are here. So, if there is a solution to my problem, my best shot is in this forum.

I'm pretty advanced in troubleshooting on this issue and the only thing that makes me think that there is a solution, it is it seems that others have installed XP on this unit.

    I have a ct of 3940; I upgraded from W2kPro to XPSP2;
I downloaded and installed the bios, drivers and toshiba utils for unity on the Toshiba site.

I have confirmed that all components of the system are operational. This includes a cdrom pcmcia, a network port replicator

    Everything is beautiful... EXCEPT:

    I have no network function.

Indeed, I have basically no internet communication that it works either - even through the modem. The modem composed and as soon as the provider of the Internet service provider sends a handshake of communications, Windows XP Home edition do not recognize and disconnects. (I have not tried to fax a document - but I don't think that is relevant to the problem).

Indeed, any type of network connection device, I try to install on the device, the device driver is not installed. This includes the network cards pcmcia (Wi - Fi 10/100 and base a - g) and usb based of a to g wireless adapters.

Initially, after the installation of Windows XP Home edition, I found that I could not get a connection to the local network through network port replicator.

To power on, loads WXP b/f, the network port replicator connection LEDs indicate a connection. Once expenses WXP, the port is disabled. [All other functions on the Port Replicator is operational under WXP].

After logging in to Windows XP Home edition, Windows XP Home edition detects "new hardware" and produced through the driver install process. He then began to try to install an "unknown device". Ithen reports thatit can not locate a driver, then prompt for the user at the end of the routine of material to add.

Device Manager reports several devices with yellow warning flags indicating that the device driver could not be installed.
A look at the Details tab on the "unknown device" (the tab 'network device') indicates that the driver who has a problem is 'rasirda.sys '. Device Manager will not allow the device to uninstall.

Other devices that have the yellow flag are:
    1 Toshiba FIR Port Type-D0
    2 IrDA Protocol (hidden feature)
    3 TCPIP (hidden feature)
and a network card, I try to install.

Facilities of device driver for network adapters, including the network port replicator controller (Intel 8255 x based pci Ethernet adapt (10/100) and his sister pilot), does not install (and will not uninstall until the device is removed).

A glance at the window of the administrator system "Services" shows that essentially all the services necessary to support network/internetrleated services are disabled. Dependencies show that all these services depend, directly or indirectly, on "services.exe". This service will not run, and when the service is to begin, WXP reports that the service.exe does not start the program described.

Topic 'Information System', a glance at the 'network' tab indicates that there is an adapter called "RAS Async card" disabled.

My first approach to this problem was to reinstall the update of the Toshiba driver for the controller Toshiba FIR. Nothing helps.

The next thought was simply to disable the function of TREE, but that cannot be done at the level of the bios... and well, as ambitious as I am, I didn't venture into the machine to determine if the IR controller could be disconnected or removed from the system board. [But if it is a possible solution, then I'll go...]

As noted above, the only reason for which I hope is it seems that others have run successfully of XP on the 3xxx series porteges, who, to my knowledge all have this same IR port. Also, Toshiba has even written an XP driver for the device.

What I find curious, among other things, is that Device Manager reports the Rasirda.sys device on the network adapter tab. I would have thought it would have been reported under the 'no plug and play' or the tabs 'system device. Whatever it is, it seems that Toshiba has implemented the infrared device such as a network adapter, or at least that's how WXP is grateful.

I searched the internet, on the site of Toshiba, microsoft XP, knowledge databases, Web pages etc. and did not meet all the remarkable solutions se... Although I enjoyed some of the protocols troubleshooting - not my real ambition.

Bottom line, is that I have this computer connected to the internet. With all protocols, and internet communications services disabled, even through the modem... Well, its ridiculous. I can't yet register WXP! Absurd is that! Well well its been late.

I hope someone will have a solution/workaround solution that will solve this problem.

In the meantime, I think that the next step is to start over and reinstall XP and try... again.

I'd appreciate any help that anyone can gather.

    Hello Andrew

It's always interesting that a lot of users are trying to install WXP on older models. Respect! The problem is that 3xxx Portege is not supported for Windows XP Home edition and I wonder that you have found the drivers and tools for this device. On Toshiba Europe don't here are some drivers for Windows XP Home edition and I assume you found the download of some of them on Toshiba U.S. page.
    Am I wrong?

Sorry but I have no concrete solution to your problem

How do I resolve the error "Stop 0x0000007B" in Windows XP

    SUMMARY
Step by step article describes how to troubleshoot error messages "Stop 0x0000007B" in Windows XP. This article describes the problems that can cause this Stop error, including viruses of boot and driver of device or hardware issues problems area.

If you cannot resolve the problem after reviewing these issues, use the General troubleshooting steps that appear at the end of the article.

    INTRODUCTION
When you start your computer, you may receive one of the following error messages:
    STOP: 0x0000007B (parameter1, parameter 2, parameter3, parameter4) INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
Setup encountered a fatal error that prevents it to continue.

Contact your product support representative. The following State help diagnose the problem.

You may also receive an error message "Stop 0x0000007B" during Windows XP installation when Setup restarts during the installation process.

When you receive a Stop error message while the installation program is running, you receive the second error message. To resolve this problem, read the following four sections to determine if one of the issues apply to you.

If none of the questions apply to you, use the following general troubleshooting steps at the end of the article.

    Boot sector virus
You may receive an error message "Stop 0x0000007B" If your computer is infected with a boot sector virus.

Search your computer for viruses. If you find a virus, also check the diskettes for viruses before you use them again.

Microsoft provides no software that can detect or remove computer viruses. If you suspect or confirm that your computer is infected with a virus, obtain current antivirus software.

For a list of antivirus software manufacturers, click the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 49500 (list of Antivirus software vendors)

Note You may need to use more than one brand of antivirus software to detect and remove various viruses.

    Important
If your computer has been infected, it may be open to other forms of attacks. We recommend that you rebuild infected Internet servers by following the guidelines that are published on the CERT Web site. Connected to the Internet servers are servers that function without a firewall or other protection. It is also a good idea to rebuild any other computers that are at risk because of their proximity to infected computers before that you put them into service.

If a virus has infected your Windows XP computer and a virus-detection program cannot remove the virus and repair the system, you must repartition and format your hard disk and reinstall Windows XP.

    Device driver issues
You may receive an error message "Stop 0x0000007B" in the following scenarios:
A device driver that your computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process.
A device driver that needs your computer startup controller is damaged.
Information in the Windows XP registry (information related to the way in which device drivers load during startup) is corrupted.

Windows XP requires a miniport driver communicate with the hard drive controller that is used to start your computer.
If Windows XP does not have a device driver for your controller or Windows XP is equipped with a damaged or incompatible driver, you must replace the driver with a valid copy that is compatible with your controller and Windows XP.

During the first phase of the Windows XP installation, Setup displays the following message is displayed at the bottom of the screen:
Press F6 if you need to install a third-party RAID or SCSI driver.
Press F6, and then follow the instructions to install a device driver from your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) mass storage.
For more information about using F6 to load an OEM device driver to support, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 314859 (limited OEM driver support is available with F6 during Windows XP Setup)

To determine if your hard disk controller is compatible with Windows XP and to obtain information about drivers that are included on the Windows XP CD or available for download, see the last Windows XP compatibility (material) list.
For more information on the latest Microsoft Windows XP HCL, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 314062 (the latest Windows XP hardware compatibility list)

If your hard disk controller is not listed on the HCL, contact the manufacturer of your computer, System Board, or hard drive controller for more information on the availability of a driver.
Microsoft does not guarantee that a resolution is available for no HCL HCL. For more information, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 315239 (support policy Microsoft for hardware that does not appear in the Windows HCL list)

If the system in the Windows XP registry hive is corrupted, Windows XP is maybe not able to load the miniport device driver that requires that the controller to start. To resolve this issue, restore a backup of the registry. For more information about restoring a registry backup, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 307545 (how to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP startup)

    Hardware problems
You may receive an error message "Stop 0x0000007B" If there is a resource conflict between the boot controller and another controller or between SCSI devices. You can also receive this Stop error message if drive translation is not being performed or if drive translation has been changed. To resolve this problem:
    1. If an IRQ address or i/o port conflict exists between your boot controller and another controller, Windows XP stops responding (hangs) or displays an error message "Stop 0x0000007B" If you have recently added new hardware, remove the new hardware or reconfigure it so that it is not incompatible with any installed controller resources.
    2. If you are using a SCSI drive, check the SCSI chain for correct end. Remove any unused SCSI devices or make sure that each unique SCSI ID.
    3. ensure that this drive translation is turned on (if necessary) and that it has not been changed. For example, if you have recently changed the controller, this problem may occur. 314082 you receive a Stop error 0x0000007b after you move the Windows XP system disk to another computer

    Other questions
Other possible causes of an error message "Stop 0x0000007B" include:
The boot volume is corrupted and cannot be initiated by Windows XP. If the file system is corrupted and Windows XP cannot initialize the volume to start during the startup process, move the drive to another computer that is running Windows XP and run the command chkdsk on drive or try to create a parallel installation of Windows XP on the drive (in a separate folder). The Windows XP Setup program checks the integrity of the volume before it copies the files, and it can solve some problems in the process.
You install Windows XP on a mirrored boot partition that was created by Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. Windows XP does not support the Ftdisk of Windows NT 4.0 volume sets. If you are running Microsoft Windows 2000, you must convert all Ftdisk volume sets to dynamic volumes before you upgrade to Windows XP. If you run Windows NT 4.0, break any mirrors and back up the data on tape, RAID5, or extended volume sets before you upgrade to Windows XP. Games Ftdisk may not be available after the upgrade.

    General troubleshooting
If none of the issues that have been described in this article apply to you, use the following general troubleshooting steps:

    1. If you receive one of these errors during the installation of Windows XP, update the computer BIOS or obtain Windows XP drivers for your hard drive controller (with the manufacturer of your computer, System Board, or hard disk controller) or do both. For more information about how to update the BIOS of your computer or obtain Windows XP drivers, contact the manufacturer of your computer. For more information about the availability of drivers, see the device driver issues section in this article.

Note: If Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 has been installed previously on a mirrored boot partition, see the section other issues in this article.

    2. use the known last good Configuration feature. This can solve the problem if you recently installed an incompatible device for your boot controller driver. Hello dear community

Long story short: I have a HP ProBook 4520 s and yesterday I upgraded manually (with the tool provided by MS) Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. Everything went very well and smooth and it works perfectly well until now.

The problem is that some of the features of the laptop no longer work. Here are some examples:

    -Highlight the option on touchpad

    -built-in camera

-Some FN buttons like the one for the brightness of the screen while others (for example, the volume and email) working

My reasoning is that it lacks certain drivers or these functions are somehwat is not compatible with the new OS (it's a 5 + year old PC after all), but I could be wrong. I'd like to hear some suggestions and opinions on this.

If someone needs to my specifications complete, there are:

Not much upgrade to make. You have the processor i7 - 720 M, which is I think the second best processor that will fit in your motherboard. It seems that you have 8 GB of RAM, which is the maximum. The only upgrade I think that may be possible and worth is to replace the hard drive with an SSD. Boot time and application launch time will be improved enormously, but things like the game or whatever it is UC will not help much.

Your laptop is not very old, but just old enough for some really cool as recent developments USB 3.0 date back to front. A concert 256 SSD will cost $129 may be where a new laptop with very strong specifications will cost $800-1500.

In order to give the best advice, I would need to know exactly what you're doing with your laptop and also what you think you can do 2-3 years. If you use it just for internet and e-mail, as well as office, I say make the SSD. If you want to play demanding games or editing videos or to compile the Code, I say, get a new laptop.

If it's 'the Answer' please click on 'Accept as Solution' to help others find it.

  • Satellite Pro 4320 CD upgrade

First of all, sorry if this message appears twice. I posted earlier this morning and he did not notice in the list of the forums then posted again.

I myself have recently a Satellite Pro 4320, but want to upgrade the standard CD-ROM drive to a CD - RW. I found a car at a computer fair and manage mounting.

I thought that you could drag the disc on the side and replace it - but alas no! I deleted EVERY visible screw unit and it STILL don't fall apart!

Help! How can I change the CDROM - I have not sent it to a service provider for the lack of a second-hand car £5... I do?

    Thanks in advance

    Barry

    Hello Barry

It is not easy to change the CD-rom on this machine and if you don't have a lot of experience you shouldn't do it yourself. Problem is that the CD is fixed on the map system and if you want to remove the drive must disconnect the System Board at first.

To do this, you need to disassemble the whole laptop and open it by completely removing the top cover.

Sorry but I can't give you more information because any dismantling procedure is not known to me.

    Good luck!

  • ProBook 4520 s: upgrading my ProBook 4520 s

    Hey there dear community,

I have been using my HP ProBook 4520 s for more than 5 years. It serves me well throughout my college and colleges after years so I decided to try to muscle it a little rather than change. My current system specs are (have it with Speccy):

Operating system: Windows Pro 64-bit 10
    CPU: Intel Core i3 330M @ 2.13 GHz 61 ° C Arrandale 32nm technology
    RAM: 4.00 GB Dual - Channel DDR3 @ 532 MHz (7-7-7-20)
    Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard 1411 (CPU 1)
Graphics card: monitor generic PnP (1366x768@60Hz)
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series (HP)
    Storage: 1043GB Western Digital WDC WD1001X06X-00SJVT0 (SSD) 42 ° C Black2
Optical drives: DTSOFT device CdRom virtual hp DVDRAM GT30L
Audio: AMD High Definition Audio Device

Now, I have done my share of reading and I reach two conclusions:

-This laptop simply is not designed to work image or processors so my two options above are dual-core i5 or i7 CPU.

From what I've read here and there, the most optimal processor that can be used on this particular device are the i7 - 640M, i7 - 620 M and i5 - 580 M. I understand that if I go with either of these three, productivity would increase with about 25-30%.

    -J' have already updated the 3 GB memory to 4 GB, but to my understanding of this laptop supports up to 8 GB of memory, so I'm considerring getting a 2 x 4 GB DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL = 9 • unbuffered NON - ECC DDR3 - 1333 • 1.5V 512Meg x 64 kit SDRAM SO-DIMM 204-PIN.

My storage is pretty much the best thing to get for this laptop (there the SATA2 port (3 Gbps)) a full 1 TB SSD would be a bit pointless.

    My questions are:

-Are there problems or other things to consider about the possible CPU upgrade? I would love to see a video tutorial on how properly to the replacement

-Am I missing something with the memory upgrade? I'm a little hesitant on that tensions must be on the memory sticks (1.35v or 1.5V).

-Are there else I can do for this in order to make a little more current (drive optical swap with something else, etc..)?

I really appreciate every suggestion and comment.

    Thank you!

    Cap

I7 - 640 M is the top processor of the page. Memory DDR3-1066 and is 1.5 volt. The most recent memory of 1.35 volts to the DDR3-1600 not will probably support. HP recommends this:

    4 GB (PC3-10600 1333 MHz, DDR3) 599092-001

Technology in the video does not actually remove the CPU but it shows. Remove the processor carefully by turning the locking screw for "open" and lift the CPU out. Be extremely careful with the pins. The new line backup the same orientation as the old and drop it in. Just be sure to block the processor setscrew down tight when you go back. You must follow the instructions on the installation of thermal paste and cleaning.

You can also consider a SSD drive. The gains to be achieved will be more sensitive than the CPU or memory. Also keep an eye on what you spend and make sure it makes sense. If I could only do an upgrade, it would be the SSD. I would like to bother with a Blu - Ray player on a laptop.

I have a HL-DT-ST DVD - RAM GH40L SCSI CdRom that do not work. Device Manager indicates "a driver (service) for this device has been disabled. Now, the drive does not at all.  Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I can't get any DVD or CD to run on my PC now.

    Hello

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    Hope these helps.

Also check with your system manufacturer to see if there are any updated drivers for your DVD. Or even if it
are you can reinstall the 'old'. Many use Windows default drivers however some special aura
ones. Also check the website of the manufacturer of the car.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Problems of recognition CDROM (new)

I have tried now for two months the problem of cdrom, IE not not register in my computer or in my device manager.  I did and again removing the filter, I tried a number of related forum (this and others) but still two months and no cdrom.  I bought a device identifier that contains the list of E /: microsoft PnpID:wpdbusenum\fs - CDROM provider: provider microsoft Pnpid:gencdrom - the reg file you'll need to change also seem to have three versions 000 - 0001-0002 - properties they apear all do the same = can someone show me what the file should look like without filters?  I bought an external cdrom that works very well on the USB channels.   I tried an alternative driver who, after the reboot, listed CDROM in Device Manager, and then he disappeared again.  I thought upgrading to Windows 7 but only if this will solve the problem of cdrom

Have you thought that the drive itself could be faulty? ESP, given that your external one has no problem with the system.

  • T500 BIOS update v3.00 - 1.03 THAT bootable CDROM does not blink

The model is a CTO 2081 running Windows Vista SP1 x 64. Downloaded and burned to a CDROM image 6fuj30uc.iso. According to the instructions, I tried to install the hotfix as required by MS KB 937500 but it does not settle, saying that the update does not apply to this system. Even if the system is a T500 instead of a W500, I also upgraded the switchable graphics driver as mentioned in the Readme.

The BIOS boot options have the CD/DVD as first boot device. Any protection for the BIOS password has been deleted.

Start with the CDROM of the results in a black screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left. BIOS does not get flashed. Neither a menu appears to provide me with options to read the help or to Flash the BIOS.

BIOS remains to be 6FET56WW (2.02).

    rpstraus, welcome to the forum,

Please take a look at this thread, I hope that the strong solution will also solve your problem.
