Cellsite modes &; GPS
Hello
I write an app for BlackBerry "BOLD" 9000,9700 (with GPS chip) and the Curve 8900, 8520 (without GPS chip) that uses location information. I use JDE 4.6.
I use the following code to get the LocationProvider object
Criteria criteria = new Criteria(); criteria.setHorizontalAccuracy(Criteria.NO_REQUIREMENT); criteria.setVerticalAccuracy(Criteria.NO_REQUIREMENT); criteria.setCostAllowed(true); criteria.setPreferredPowerConsumption(Criteria.POWER_USAGE_MEDIUM); locationProvider = LocationProvider.getInstance(criteria); //if GPS chip is not available or if there is no satellite coverage (i.e. inside a building) use Cellsite if (locationProvider.getState()==LocationProvider.OUT_OF_SERVICE || locationProvider.getState()==LocationProvider.TEMPORARILY_UNAVAILABLE){ criteria.setHorizontalAccuracy(Criteria.NO_REQUIREMENT); criteria.setVerticalAccuracy(Criteria.NO_REQUIREMENT); criteria.setCostAllowed(true); criteria.setPreferredPowerConsumption(Criteria.POWER_USAGE_LOW); locationProvider = LocationProvider.getInstance(criteria); }
What does this code is trying to get a locationprovider object that uses the assisted mode (I place my criteria according to the GPS BlackBerry development guide). If there is no coverage of a chip or a GPS satellite I try to get a locationprovider who uses the Cellsite mode.
This code works for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 and 9700 only when I saw the sky. However, it does not work with curve devices or work with "BOLD" devices when I've not seen from the sky.
The following pictures are taken from dev GPS guide by RIM on the configuration of the objects of criteria for the cell site towers assisted modes
My code is doing exactly that!
In this Capacity GPS BlackBerry link, it says that 9000 "BOLD" only supports standalone mode. There is no reference to the Bold 9700 and Curve 8900 and 8520. Moreover, I know that the 9000 "BOLD" support cellsite mode because personally, I use applications on my 9000 "BOLD" who recover my position so that I have no sky view (like Foursquare).
Also, I know that my carrier allows for triangulation of Cellsite. I develop the same application for the iPhone and I am able to retrieve the user's location based on the cell site information.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks in advance
I solved this problem a while back on another thread and thought for those who might find this thread please refer to the solution here:

PLEASE CLARIFY! Dependence Cellsite door-network MODE
Hi all
I need some details on the Cellsite Mode.
I tried to use the Cellsite mode, and it works fine on BIS activated sim.
But on network non-BIS it does not me place.
Also, the diagnosis code condition here -link does not work with the network, its giving LocationException: Timed Out while you wait for Geolocation.
So I would like to know, if the CELLSITE MODE is only available on network BIS?
If not, what can be the problem in my case?
PS: Tested on 9900 device, Device Software 7.1.0.523, device platform 5.1.0.393
Successes and failures both cases are tested on the same place with the same device with different SIM.
Thanks in advance.
The Service to locate BlackBerry can run on a Wi - Fi connection or any path of data but requires a BlackBerry data plan. It uses cell towers and Wi - Fi networks to determine your position.

Help on the dialog box permits preventing projection during the passage of location
Hi all!
I am trying to add location is fixed on an application and I'm trying to avoid having the permissions pop-up that asks the user to allow using GPS. I have to press at least JDE 4.6.0 and I have been using this article as a guide: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Location-APIs-Start-to-finish/ta-p/571949
I used the sample code to get a localization using Cellsite Mode solution, but I still get the permissions dialog box. I figured using the Cellsite Mode, it would not require authorization because he isn't using GPS. Someone at - it one know a way to prevent the permissions dialog box from popping up or always displays because I'm asking for the location of a user? I have to use a new JDE to achieve?
Thanks, any comment is appreciated.
I can assure you that you are unable to obtain location information, or information that could help with location (e.g. mast connected information) without some acceptance of the user's permissions.

Series 2 GPS mapping works is not without an iPhone?
I tried run/walk with the following applications without my iPhone, but they don't display any map of my route in activity CA. seems like it should always be attached to the phone to follow?
- RunKeeper
- Apple training app (run/walk in the open air)
- Runtastic
Y at - it a setting that I need to install or configure on the watch or the phone?
I sometimes test by putting my phone in airplane so my watch mode is on its own, but it still doesn't seem to work.
At this stage there is no 3rd party apps that have access to the mapping feature. Only the application of the workout gives you a map.
That said, when you did the run/walk outdoors with your phone in airplane mode did you your watch out of airplane mode? When you put the phone in airplane mode, it should automatically put the watch in airplane mode as well. I ask because that how to turn off the GPS as well in airplane mode. And of course if the GPS is off you would not get the plan...

Hello world
I've just updated a 6s, 6 and 2 x 5 to 10 iOS iPhone. Everything worked and works well, because some have problems updating, I thought I might add that. The only problem I have is with GPS and it seems to be a model. Let me explain.
After the update, my position on the cards of Apple is far away. He difference varies from a few meters and a few kilometers. It is noticed by the other apps, google maps, Navigon and here all show the same problem. Trails and Easytrails confirm these results. Still, this happens on all 4 phones!
In the meantime, I have tried without decommissioning, restore, reinstall w / and without mode DFU, and the error does not disappear.
Report this problem to Apple as soon as possible, I would like to raise here as well, to see if I'm the only person with this problem.
Any comment is appreciated.
Kind regards
tronicIO
Same problem here. It started about a month when I downloaded the beta version. As a first step, they would still load the GPS coordinate accurately, but when I ' would start route "then it just would stop, and he wouldn't follow me on the road. It has not been resolved in one of the betas for me. Now my GPS position is FAR from approximately 1/4 mile, when I pull up to my "current" position and it just says: 'GPS not available' when I try to start any route.

Hello
About a year (like on iOS 9 version), GPS on my phone did not work. When I would try to use maps from Apple, it seems that my car has been the road somewhere in the grass, and sometimes many roads above. He could never stay with me while driving. Also, this happened when using Google Maps, so I knew it wasn't just a problem with the Apple Maps app.
I tried to restart the phone several times, remove the GPS applications and reinstall them, completely wipe the phone and start from scratch, etc. The problem still exists. So for a while, I just dealt with him. I just use GPS my car if I needed one. Although it has always bothered me that my 128 GB of 6 GPS iPhone did not work. However, with the release of the 'Pokémon GO' game that is based on the GPS, I am very disappointed that I get a signal error my GPS is not detected (Yes, I have activated the application location services).
Is there some app or something that I can use to diagnose my GPS antennas in the phone? I have the full 5-bar signal (point?), and my phone is in developer/debug mode, so I can also see that the detailed signal is - 81. I have AT & T as my carrier. There must be a way to determine if something in my phone is damaged. I would go to the Apple Store, but the closest is an hour and a half, so I would like to avoid that if possible.
I have the same problem as well. I noticed when I tried to use the WAZE app for the first time since more than a year and it does not locate my position accurately enough. I've never really cared because I rarely travel too far and my GPS worked well enough for me to navigate when I should not rely on a map. Now that Pokémon GO is out which relies on positioning very accurate since some Pokemon can only be captured in some areas, it is really annoying that my phone takes a lot of time to put me in a general situation or fails to find me at all. I know it's just a game, but it's really annoying because it's the first week of release, and all my friends are playing. Seems my GPS only works pretty well to play when I'm more urban areas in my city (perhaps the buildings help focus signals on my phone) compared to parks and suburban more areas. The phone would make my position in the game by tens of metres offshore and sometimes would be me all about teleport to another whole BLOCK!
I think it may be a hardware problem because I also noticed that my phone started to worsen to pick up WIFI signals as well. I use to be able to walk my business and maintain a good WIFI signal and now it seems that I can hardly connect to my router unless I'm less than 10 feet of it. Around, I read that this could be a short film of either a bad charging cable, damaged by the heat that damage the WIFI and GPS, modules or an update that fried partial systems.
Edit: I checked my router with the new iPhone of others and they had really good reception of the WIFI signal like what I had at first, that's why I think it's a hardware problem.

Mode of energy on the Apple Watch store
When my watch is in power reserve, is no longer follow measures/activities?
Airplane mode will help some reserve battery if I plan to be interrupted during a 3 hour race? I worry about my watch will not really capture my full activity. Appropriate suggestions!
Hello
When the power reserve is enabled, everything you can do with your watch is to tell the time (by pressing once the button). The watch will follow is more activity in the background through the application of the activity, or the training can be used. This mode designed to keep this function (telling time) available as long as possible. In addition to being available as a manual option, Apple Watch automatically switches power reserve mode when the battery level reaches a low level.
More information:
With the help of power reserve - Apple Support
Airplane mode disables the Bluetooth connectivity and Wi - Fi, you watch is no longer able to communicate with your iPhone or use all of the features that rely on this connection (for example, calls, messages, play music from your iPhone).
You can still use features that do not rely on the connection of the iPhone - including the monitoring of your activity (Stand, Move, exercise) with enforcement activity and track workouts (without using the iPhone's GPS data) via the application of the workout.

Hello
I was wondering about airplane mode. I'm about to travel abroad and I was wondering if I could use airplane mode to ensure that I don't get charged and only use wifi. I have ios 9 and I've seen a lot of articles about this feature, but they have mostly been 2012 and 2013. My question is essentially asking this feature of airplane mode still works on ios 9? I have an iphone 6 and I am currently on ios 9. 2.
Thank you!
Yes, airplane mode works well enough the way it always has. The only difference I know, is, apparently, the GPS remains lit even in airplane mode now.
Put your phone in airplane mode and then turn WiFi. You should be fine.
You should contact your carrier and find out about the activation of your phone for international use just in case you have an emergency situation.

Action Cam Movie Creator, GPS overlay problems (solved)
Hello community,
I am Stefan of Germany.
I am owner of a HDR - AZ1 with remote control. When I overlay the GPS data I get the white areas in my video.
That seems independent of importation through the CCMA or PMH.
Firmware and software of cam, remote and program is the latest version.
I reinstalled PMH and ACMC and tried both Win7 compatibility modes.
My OS is win10/32.
Anyone have an idea how to fix?
Thanks and regards,

GPS suddenly stopped working on iPhone 4S
Hello
Suddenly, the GPS on my iPhone 4 works a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was the app, but I noticed that is not work in other applications too, so I think it is necessary with the GPS on the phone itself. I did not change anything to cause the problem, it happened by itself.
In troubleshooting, I have reset the GPS repeatedly following the instructions found on Google. I downloaded an application called State of the GPS and at first use, it showed that I had a few signals, however, it was a cloudy day, so I was not too concerned. I thought that the reset had solved the problem.
No... so one day completely clear, I had "Bad difficulty" on GPS and GPS status while it is on the slopes of Ski or Argus application.
I have reset the GPS again. Still no joy.
I've updated the OS 9.2.1 reset and re-callibrated GPS doing the figure 8 sweep as suggest on Google with the airplane off the coast Mode. I still have some difficulty on the State of the GPS, no GPS on the Ski slopes and Google Maps doesn't have a clue where I am. Of course, on location services great for these applications.
Are there other solutions?
Thank you very much
Rosaroo
Hello Ros,
If the GPS on your iPhone does not work properly, first try the following troubleshooting steps for location services. If these steps do not resolve your problem, you may need to update the iOS software. Don't forget to backup your iPhone before you make changes to it.
Help with maps on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
- Tap Settings > privacy > location Services and to make, of course, this location Services and cards are turned on.
- Make sure that you set the date, time and timezone correctly on your device. Go to settings > general > Date & time. If possible, use the value automatically.
- Restart your device.
- Make sure that the cellular data or Wi - Fi is enabled.
- Try another location or switch to another Wi - Fi network.
Services Locator uses GPS, Bluetooth and Wi - Fi hotspot and cell tower crowd source places to determine your position. Learn more about The location Services on your iOS device.
Privacy and location for iOS Services 8 and iOS 9
Enable or disable location Services
You can enable or disable location Services in settings > privacy > location Services. You can enable location-based Services during the wizard process of installation or later through the creation of location-based Services. You can individually control applications and system services have access to the data of location Services. When location Services are disabled, the apps can't use your position in the foreground or background. You will thus limit the performance of various Apple and third-party applications.
Settings > privacy > location Services.
Settings > privacy > location Services > System Services.
Reset or disable location Services
Location warnings are applications that make the apps (for example, Camera, compass and maps so that location-based applications) to use the Services of location with these applications. An application will ask you to leave the first time, he needs to access the data of location Services. Allow tapping will give this app permission to use location Services according to your needs. Tapping can not prevent an application to access the data of location Services. Apps don't use your location until they asked permission and you grant permission.
If you want to reset all settings to factory default location, go to settings > general > reset and tap reset card and privacy. When your location and privacy settings are reset, apps will be stop using your location until you grant them permission.
Improve the accuracy of GPS
GPS accuracy varies according to the number of visible GPS satellites. Location of all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. Follow these tips to improve the accuracy of the GPS:
- Make sure that you set the date, time and timezone correctly on the device in settings > general > Date & time. If possible, use the value automatically.
Important: Incorrect settings on your computer can sync to your device. Check the date, time and time zone on a computer that syncs with your device. - Restart your device.
- Make sure you have a cell phone or Wi - Fi network connection. This allows assisted GPS (A - GPS) on the device to locate the fastest visible GPS satellites, in addition to providing information about the initial location using Wi - Fi or cellular networks.
Microcells (sometimes called Femtocells) are not supported with location Services. - Keep a clear view of the horizon in several directions. Please keep in mind that walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains and other obstacles can block the line of sight to GPS satellites. When this occurs, your device will automatically use a Wi - Fi or cellular networks to determine your position until the GPS satellites are still visible.
Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again
Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again
- Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, borrow one from a friend or go to an Apple Store or service provider authorized Apple for help.
- When your device is connected, force restart it: press and hold the sleep/wake and home for at least 10 seconds, and only release when you see the Apple logo. Keep until you see the screen in recovery mode now.
- When you see the option restore or update, Choose update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Please wait while iTunes downloaded the software for your device.
If the download takes more than 15 minutes the device out of recovery mode, you must repeat these steps and choose restore instead of update when you return to this step.
- After the update or restore is complete, configure your device. If you have backed up your device with iTunes or iCloud and you need to restore your device in step 3, you may be able to restore from your backup during installation.

Hello
someone knows how to easily change the settings of the GPS, Bluetooth, 4 G,... thanks to a profile or something?
I went recently to Android to iOS, but I had on Android, an app that had these built-in parameters: I just had to click on the preset 'car' and my GPS, Bluetooth and 4G have been activated my wifi is disabled automatically.
If I clicked on the 'home' the phone automatically activated my WiFi profile and turned off the Bluetooth, 4G and GPS...
does anyone have an idea to achieve this?
Thank you
Iwein
There should be no need to do so. Why do you think it's necessary? Leave things like bluetooth and WiFi turned on does not consume a significant amount of energy. There is no need to turn off LTE, because all what he would do would be to slow down your cellular data connection. If you are connected to WiFi, WiFi will be used instead of cellular data. The WiFi radio turn off when the phone is in standby mode and not connected to power.

Cannot pair Bluetooth with wireless GPS receiver
Hello
I just bought the software Garmin Mobile PC with a wireless GPS receiver. My computer which is the another OS XP manufacturer, who has the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack in it.
The Bluetooth Manager is the Garmin GPS receiver, but not pair the two together. When I open the software so that it can find the GPS receiver, happening in Bluetooth Scan mode and just glue here until it times out with error message: "TOSBtMng.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience. Garmin technology and I was on my laptop and downloaded manufacturer site the patch/update, is always the same.
Can someone help with this problem?
I hope I gave enough information!I guess you have the original available your PC bluetooth stack. So I would try the following:
-Install the last battery Bluetooth bluetooth Toshiba website:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/
-Configure your GPS device by using the "Custom" of the "Bluetooth settings" Mode
-Remove the battery Bluetooth, but answering the question if the configurations of the device must be removed as well with 'no '.
-Now install the battery Bluetooth that came with your PC again. -
I have the model 3 G/GPS of Lenovo Miix running on Windows 8.1 but it seems that the Windows location utility does not work with gps (GNSS sensor HUAWEI) all hardware and determines the location right, founded on the basis of wifi/cell. Is this true (I found this page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/cs-cz/library/windows/apps/hh464919.aspx but it seems a little unclear to me)? How can I use GPS in offline mode then? The HUAWEI driver seems to be up-to-date and functioning, installed in November with whole OS, but according to his journal, the latest data were received in late December, although I tried to use maps offline (local Czech Smartmaps app) later as well. What are your experiences with gps offline in the dark?
I'm always test it, but it seems that GPS started working. It just need some time (sometimes important) until it receives all the necessary data by satellite. And it only works outdoors, also worked in the front seat of a car, but not in a bus or a train...
Take care
