Centered and left aligned text

I have several blocks of text that contain paragraphs 2 or 3. Paragraphs should be aligned to the left. However, they must also be centered horizontally in their respective text frames (as in the example on the right in the picture below). Each set of paragraphs has different lengths, so it would be tedious to have to change the withdrawal on each of them or to change the tabs for each group.

Is it possible to do without having to manually position each in InDesign CS4?

Peter,

A table is a great idea. However, I don't think it will work in this case because of other considerations of page layout. I do a provision which consists of frames and text frames. Each photo frame and text block are grouped. On each page, I plan to have a large text frame that contains several groups of executives and executives of text. In the image below, there are 9 groups within a single text block. Large text frames that contain all groups spend another frame of large text on the next page, which also contains group photo series and blocks of text.

The reason for such a provision is so that a user can insert a new picture/text frame group and all other groups will automatically move to the right. Or, if a group is deleted, all other groups will move to the left.

On some pages, there will be a different presentation with a significant group in the lower part of the page (as in the lower image). Currently, in the bottom image, there are 3 groups in the top row, and there is only one group in the bottom row that contains 3 sets of groups of photo/image.

I'm really struggling with this provision. How text aligns is a secondary factor. The main challenge is to know how make it easy for the user to insert and remove groups of photo/text frames, so that all groups take as they should.

I hope I described it is understandable. I am open to any suggestions that will make this easier to use layout.

Hi, Jay:

Images are worth zillions of words, do you not hear?

I'm not a designer or page layout production guy, so I'm just speculating. If I understand your need to add or remove one or more items from image caption / and I have to fill in other, horizontal threaded frames can operate. For the first page, three horizontal frames, threaded top-right to the center-left, middle, right to bottom-left. Remove any unit and other return flows; Add the entire building and other flows forward - you need for Smart Text Reflow is flowing to a new page.

Something similar might work for the second presentation page.

Kind regards

Peter

  • Kerning in a left-aligned text column

    Picture 1.png

    Two possibilities: either you have "Lines balancing ragged" enabled (which will try to make each line the same length), or it is caused by the paragraph composer (which attempts to balance the amount of white space at the end of each line).

    Solution # 1: clear the balance of the jagged lines.

    Solution # 2: use the single line composer - who will fill each row until the scope before continuing with the next and the right side will not be as well inconsistent as it is now.

  • Align to the left the text anchor point in After Effect

    Hello. Sorry if this question was very noovy, but I need left align multiple layers of text. So, I want to put my on board left the text anchor point. Because I need to be able to change the text and get the same effect, I would like to place the anchor point on the left edge by using an expression.

    I used something like

    x = 0;

    Y = this.sourceRectAt () .height/2;

    [X, Y]

    However, small, apparently random offset is throw me off. How can I align my text anchor point to the left edge?

    Thanks in advance!

    Yes... I created a font that has 0 left/right bearings, and it worked perfectly.

  • Is there a quick and easy ways to precisely align text on a circular path?

    I create a model of roller coaster of drinks and I have to make sure that the text moves around the outside edge of the coaster is properly spaced, symmetrical and well aligned. Are there tools that I can use to simplify this process, because at the moment I use the very long and very imprecise method of using the SPACEBAR and counting the spaces between words and turning arc text manually. There must be an automatic method that is much more accurate?

    Thank you very much. TW

    Another method: start by placing a space between each of the sentences. Use the method justified that Peter suggested.

    Then replace the spaces between sentences with a hunting space (Type > Insert space > Flush space).

    To the passage of the alignment with the selection tool. Check that the proxy of transformation is set to centered. Use the rotation tool and turn until the text that you want at the top of the circle.

  • Lines of connection, centering and alignment problems

    Hello

    Hope you are well.

    I have a few questions about the joint:

    1.) as you will see, there are areas in the upper and lower lines rows (paths?) that intersect each other. It wouldn't be a problem if the opacity was lowered on them, but since it is, how can I make it look like they connect with each other? I tried the pen tool and the Pathfinder, but have had no luck yet.

    2.) since these forms serve the page, is it possible to ensure that they are as a group really centered? I tried their balance to the artboard, but it didn't look right. So far, only visually focusing is best for them. Maybe it's better this way but wanted to check.

    (3.) when I tried to align vertically the two forms to each other on the top line and the bottom, it doesn't do anything I do it (align to Center, low or high). It is always disabled. And I do track who has always worked in favor of something like that, by aligning to Center vertically and choosing align to selection. What is going on?

    Thanks a lot for your help! Greatly appreciated.

    If you need to use transparent instead of shades, you could put the strokes on a separate layer and apply the settings of opacity for this layer and not to unique objects.

  • CSS: Top alignment of the floating image and the following text

    I have a small site, studying where the images (inside a div) are launched and the following text flows around them. Standard procedure. Here's what I can't understand... The upper part of the image is about three pixels more than the top of the first letter in the text next to this image. I understand that with characters, there is space below for the Downhillers, but I thought the top of a capital letter height of the character limit. I tested it on Windows XP using IE8, Firefox 3.6 and Chrome 6. Here is a link to a sample page:

  • Layout problem: banner and the main non-aligned text (help a dufus please)

    Hi folks, I'm pulling my hair out here (which is not a good thing because I said that it becomes thin anyway)

    I'm a noobie Dreamweaver and I followed the check_magazine online tutorial. Was not serious, but when I went to my own page, I had problems. All I want is a fixed banner and navigation panel, and immediately below I want a main text, which will have a length of variable scroll according to content. When I'm in design mode it seems OK here:

    Bert Layout Prob.jpg

    But as soon as I click direct, the body of the text disappears under the banner. I can't say where I've gone wrong. Here is a link to my page:

    http://www.student.city.AC.UK/~abhm364/P1/index2.html

    Css is as follows:

    @charset "utf-8";
    / * CSS document * /.

    #container {}
    background-color: B2D7E7;
    height: auto;
    Width: 1280px;
    left: 0px;
    Top: 0px;
    }
    #banner {}
    position: fixed;
    height: 180px;
    Width: 1280px;
    left: 0px;
    Top: 0px;
    background-image: url (features);
    }
    {#main_text}
    do-family: "Palatino Linotype", "Book Antiqua", Palatino, serif;
    font-size: medium;
    background-color: #B2D7E7;
    Width: 1280px;
    height: auto;
    top: 181px;
    }

    The banner is 1280 x 180 and I want the main text to start immediately 181 verses down to the car. I'm having the same color as the background of the banner in the background of the main text is flawless. At the end, I'll put a spry menu bar in the lower part of the banner.

    Is someone can you please tell me where I've been a dufus? I'm sure I could, but cannot determine where, I know just that it no worky!

    You might be thinking why you use "position: fixed" and adding a top and left value?

    Try to remove the pieces of your CSS.

    You may also like to think of this rule:

    * {  margin: 0;  padding: 0;}

    Google "padding margin reset" or "CSS reset" for more on this last suggestion.

  • Paragraph on top of left-aligned paragraph Center

    Hello

    My question is relatively simple (I think) that I'm sure was answered here before I can't answer because I don't know how it the phrase in the search.

    In Dream Weaver, in design mode (don't know anything about HTML), I need to make sure there is a highlighted title "BOLD" directly above a left-aligned paragraph (no space between the two).

    What is the best way to achieve this? Everything I do it seems to group the title and paragraph together and align the same.

  • How to align text in the text block

    I am placing text in a block of text on my master page header. Once I have the text centered and aligned in the block of text on the screen and go to the preview screen, the text appears as biased to one side (usually on the left). In order to have the text centered in the image on my published site, I had to apply him biased in design mode. See the sidebar "modern children's clothing ' at the top of my site www.kikikidswear.com

    Y at - it something I am doing wrong?

    I also noticed that when I view my site published on a wide screen monitor other text gets biased such as the words "kids wear" on the header and the info of the copyright at the bottom right of my footer.

    Hello

    Apparently, the change that you're talking about is happening because of spacing. It is the spacing is added to the right of the 'g', causing the light displacement.

    Try pointing out the last letter of the text ('g') and letter spacing setting to 0.

  • Page not centering and background repeat question in Safari

    I've recently set up a new Web site. It seems to be working and displays well in IE, Chrome and FF. My problem is Safari. The page is not centering (go left) and I'm also having a problem with

    my footer div background image does not repeat. I'm sure it's something simple (that is to say: stupid) I did, but it just escapes me. The other interesting thing is that the background for the footer image

    OK, first apology.  I know you said that you were done with it, but I didn't!  It's niggling at me as I read your post.

    If you are still interested, take a look at your page on my test site:

    martcol.co.UK/test/cardinalwood.html

    That's what I did (the CSS is in the head).  moved the footer to the container.  Added the image of the grass to the bottom of the body. tinkered with the width thing.  At the left off the bottom NAV margin.

    This last step to focus correctly. I also put text-align: center on the body.

    I think that's it.  It's rambling abit but makes it very well on my iPhone.

    I'll take the page down in a week or two. I hope you didn't do this to me.
