CentOS root creds

Anyone know the centOS root creds to the virtual machines in the public catalog?

When you deploy and turn on... the pwd generated automatically will appear in the portal. Click on the virtual machine to open its properties... and look on the right side.

  • Server and the agent must be running as root (under centos linux)?

    I have not seen anything in the installation documentation that mentions that it is advisable to run the Actual process and agent as root.  I noticed that, when is not running as root, the agent was unable to analyze certain directories, which seems a bit undesirable.

    My plan was to create a simple script to call HQ - agent.sh power in /etc/init.d (for example) and then use symbolic links to standards in /etc/rc3.d to start and stop the agents and the server automatically.

    Is this normal practice?  A bad idea?

    Thanks for any advice.
    Jay

    As you have noted, there are many parts of the system that require privileges to access and monitor. The simplest solution seems to be to use the root user to run the agent, although more complex solutions using a properly assigned permissions, sudo for specific orders, or him are more synchronized with security best practices. I have personally not yet explored all the possibilities, but know has endeavoured to ensure the process is running as root is not a hard requirement.

    A start/stop script looks like a very good idea. All right, in fact, you should find an example called agent.rc in the hyperic-agent-2.x.x/rcfiles directory. A point of departure in any way.

    Why my credit card does not work for a purchase more. I've used it before and when I try to make a purchase, it tells me that the transaction did not go thru? I tried several times.

    Hello hlsilva,

    Sorry to hear that you can not make a purchase with your Apple ID. Let's see if we can understand what is happening.

    Now, it is difficult to tell what the root cause is on why your card is denied when making a purchase. I suggest you to update your billing information first to ensure that you have up-to-date information on your card. If everything looks good, make sure that you do not have a balance owing on your account. Take a look at the article below to guide you through that unravel.

    Hello

    I am trying to install the DELL OMSA on my Dell Poweredge 1950 with no luck setting the GUI part on the server, so I can use the link "https://localhost:1311" in all of our business network.

    The problem is that I've done the following to at least be able to use the CLI portion only:

    It is a very useful script that I found online to allow at least the installation works fine. I can't access the web interface, it continues to tell me Elinks or any external browser "unable to access".

    I also have openssl installed with wget and perl. I don't know what keeps me to get the portion of browser to work. Please help!

    PS: I realize that this isn't a supported Cisco OS, but I would try it before falling to RHEL

    Editing/etc/redhat-release should allow WCS start.  I run ours on CentOS 5 and I had to make this change.

    Just comment out the line CentOS and add the following Red Hat line.  You will probably need to be root to do this and

    It may require a reboot.  I also after execution of updates to CentOS note that usually back the file changes

    and WCS does not restart.  I keep a copy of the file on the server's desktop, then copy it on after the updates.

    I have not noticed any problems running on CentOS, just thought I'd throw that out there.

    See you soon!

    2 things come to mind with the netca newspaper:

    (1) we use NO HA... it seems that we could ignore that.

    2) 1521 port is NOT in use.  I ran netstat - anpl | grep 1521 in 5 second loop delay when running the installation and it never appeared.

    Does anyone know if there is something different with Centos6.4 or AWS facilities that would cause this?  In addition, the log shows that the installation went well and it was with the configuration.  The spfile does not exist and when root.sh is run after installation, the oratab has no entry ($ORACLE_SID: $ORACLE_HOME: N |) There > does not exist).

    Ideas?

    Found the question in forums of http://stackoverflow.com . We searched before but does not search the correct error. I searched on "information for this listening port is currently in use by other software on this computer." and found a forum thread that we explained our problem.

    We use AWS as our server provider. AWS has 2 IP addresses he uses. We use for PuTTY in and access the server Public and private one located on eth0. Obviously, the private IP address must be in the file/etc/hosts not the public IP address.

    The database installed and is running.

    Hi, I faced the same problem, and now I have corrected this issue.

    He was vmnet.ko, at least for me.

    Here's how to solve,

    You can find the latest vmnet.ko of /lib/modules/~previous_kernel_version~/misc/vmnet.ko

    Copy vmnet.ko into your current/lib/modules/your_current_version/misc folder.

    And then run vmware, if you fail at the first, please run again.

    If so, you can run vmwre!

    I hope this will help you.

    Good day.

    In my research, I did not see any fix.  I think he just doesn't...

    vmplayer 7.1.2 works for me on CentOS 7.

    The problem was the secure boot must be disabled in the BIOS.

    As shown in the topic, I have manually compiled kernel 4.0 for my installation of CentOS 7. After the installation of the kernel (in rpm mode, followed the instructions here: How to compile a Kernel - The Way CentOS ) installed all 3 rpm, kernel, kernel-headers and kernel-devel and then tried to start my installation of workstation with it leads to having to re - build the components (as usual)

    It does not, when it came to the compilation of the network management module. See attached log file that it generated.

    I also tried to uninstall, downloaded VMware-Workstation-Full - 11.1.0 - 2496824.x86_64.bundle and re-installed with the same result.

  • CentOS Workstation 11 7 cannot override noop Scheduler

    Hi people:

    I'm using VMware Workstation 11 and created a CentOS 7 virtual minimum installation using the UEFI boot option. The operating system seems to install fine; However, try to change the disk scheduling algorithm for 'noop' did not work and remains the default value of 'deadline '. The problem does not occur when you install the operating system with the BIOS boot option.

    Here's how to reproduce the problem:

    (1) create a new virtual machine using a minimal install of CentOS and check the Boot with EFI instead of the BIOS under settings | Options | Advanced

    (2) install the OS and connect you with the root or an active administrator account.

    (3) open the/etc/default/grub file and add the following line

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "elevator = noop"

    (4) to reconfigure grub with the command

    $ sudo grub2-mkconfig - o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

    (5) to restart the virtual machine

    (6) connect and check the elevator algorithm parameter using the command

    $ cat/sys/block/sda/queue/scheduler

    The output is ' cfq noop [deadline] "where it should be" [noop] deadline qfc. I manually checked /boot/grub2/grub.cfg and the 'elevator = noop' is added to the command-line as expected. Following the same procedure except with the start-up of the BIOS to change the disk scheduling algorithm for 'noop' as expected.

    It would be appreciated if someone could verify that this is indeed a problem. Thank you!

    Shaun

    I solved my problem and displaying the result below for those who change the IO Planner in CentOS 7 when the option to boot using EFI interface. There are two ways to make the change:

    Change the default settings for grub and then run grub2-mkconfig

    (1) open the/etc/default/grub file and add a/change the following line

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "elevator = noop"

    (2) to reconfigure grub with the command

    # grub2-mkconfig - o /boot/efi/EFI/centos/grub.cfg

    Alternatively, use the grimy Linux command

    (1) enter the command

    # Sales - setting a day the kernel = ALL - args = 'elevator = noop'

    Restart the virtual machine, and then make sure that the IO scheduling algorithm parameter with the command

    $ cat/sys/block/sda/queue/scheduler

    Note: The default IO Planner has been changed in RHEL 7 to "deadline" for all block devices except for the SATA drives where "cfq" remains the default. The option 'noop' uses FIFO, thus leaving the planning for the hypervisor IO.  See the documentation for RHEL 7 Chapter 5. Storage and file systems.

  • SE host root access of vCenter (somehow)

    I've got 2 hosts which I can access via vCenter (domain admin creds). However, we never gave the root password (or no matter what password) for the local hosts. Now, I am loaded with access to the root of these hosts. They are guests of production so I cannot restart them on a whim but can schedule a reboot if it will certainly make me access. In addition, guests are a few States away so I don't (yet) have console access.

    Any suggestions?

    I see two methods that may work. The first depends on your licenses, i.e. requires Enterprise Plus license. In this case, you can set the password using profiles of the host (see, for example, http://www.vladan.fr/how-to-reset-esxi-5-x-root-password-and-under-which-conditions/). The second method-I've never used myself - is to modify the hosts to authentication AD (which you already did), create an ad "ESX Admins' with the right AD users group, and then connect to the host using the user account AD to change the root password. You may need to wait a few minutes for the ESXi host pick up the members of the AD Group.
