Centro and Ubuntu 9.10 Hotsync

Hi all

I go to 9.10 over the weekend and have a problem with connecting to my Palm Centro.

I use ubuntu from 8.04 and have been synchronize my Palm (with jPilot and Palm Desktop on Windows XP host (in VBox) regularly.) (not without initial problems usual .)

After the upgrade, I've synced it once - sync reported an error with a voice memo and ended. My calendar and todo on Palm has updated correctly. However after only instance, now every time I try to plug my Palm using the USB key... the Palm restarts! I can't understand why OS upgrade in anyway would affect this particular USB connection.

My other USB sticks work properly (and Palm USB sycn happens on other machines - RHEL and Mac). So, it must be something to do with the USB settings on 9.10, I guess.

Someone else had this problem? Any help is appreciated I need to sync my calendar and tasks on a daily basis.

Thanks in advance.

You can do a test, try to do a sync after killing the process modem-Manager. Has worked for me, I tried to connect to the Internet.

  • Centro and mysterious disappearance of HotSync

I use a Verizon Center on an Intel Mac v.10.4.11. In order to synchronize with iCal and AddressBook Mac, I use Missing Sync for Palm OS v.6.0.4.

I recently started to the top of my Mac and noticed that the icon in the dock for HotSync Manager had changed to a question mark, which means that the location of the actual application was unknown. I searched my machine and found a file (in a place I'm saving myself for the files, I'm not sure I want trash yet) containing an earlier version of the Palm OS software that I had used with an old m515, I used to own. I took the HotSync Manager to this folder application and moved to the current Palm OS application folder in the Applications folder on my hard drive. I received the following error message when you try to start HotSync Manager:

    Failed to launch application

The application 'HotSync Manager' could not be launched because of a shared library error: ""<>".

I don't quite know what the next step is, since Missing Sync for Palm OS will not start now. Help, please! I know that this will eventually become a problem, because my Centro acted weird lately, and I'm going to need my software based on the Office for the full backup I need it to be. Thanks for any assistance with ideas on what to try.

Well, so to think I'm a patient person! I forced Missing Sync to stop smoking, disabled Antivirus Norton autoprotect, turned off the firewall of Mac and restarted. I then started Missing Sync up again once and voila! Everything is OK, in place and up to date, much to my relief. Thanks for everything looks, and I hope the information is useful if someone else has similar problems.

  • CTRL + SHIFT + T doesn't work anymore, I tried it on Windows and Ubuntu. The other shortcuts work fine.

CTRL + SHIFT + T doesn't work anymore, I tried it on Windows and Ubuntu. If I go to history > recently closed tabs and click on something, it works, it's just the keyboard shortcut that broke. The other tabs keys work fine.

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

See basic troubleshooting: make a new profile:

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • Is it possible to install Windows 7 and Ubuntu on the same partition?

I'm a grad student and for my studies I need to ubuntu and Windows the long withit. Unfortunately in my laptop that only one partition is free. I would like to install Ubuntu inside Windows. Is this possible?

No, this isn't a plausible scenario, the two operating systems use different file systems, Windows 7 uses NTFS and Ubuntu uses ext4.  Even if they use a common file system, it would still not be recommended.  If you have enough free space on the disk, you can shrink the partition, and then create a new partition on free space for Ubuntu, note that it still may be a bit difficult to implement correctly, you must have a knowledge base of the operation between the MBR and the boot so that it works correctly on the same hard disk.

Have you considered installing Ubuntu in a virtual environment in Windows 7?  I think that this may be a better option.  Personally, the engine virtual without going I prefer VirtualBox , but some prefer VMware Player , which is also very popular.

The source has been recognized as "suse", not as "sles:

Are you sure it's SuSE Enterprise and not Open SuSE? Converter supports SLES only.

Anyway, you can try a hack to make apparently SLES - change the ' / etc/SuSE-release ' on the source machine (or something similar in the model/etc / *-free) and in the first line add "Enterprise." Then try the conversion again. It's the machine 'lsuseinux90 '.

Regarding the "opscenter' - version has not been recognized too. The second line in the output file should be something like "VERSION = xx".

I had my 755 p for some time and have not had any problems.  I noticed that my calendar has been removed from my desktop (Windows Vista).  I try to HotSync and it freezes just always in the same place - calendar sync - I try to cancel the Hotsync and he says just it is Cancel and may take a minute, but he never cancels.  I have restart my desktop computer.  When I restart; the HotSync Manager stands up and declares a Hotsync failure.  If I go to applications in the Hotsync menu and uncheck the agenda, hotsync is complete without any problems.  I'm not aware of any programs that have been recently added to my phone.  I have tried everything I can possibly think!  and suggestions?

I would say DbFixIt Pimlico and after execution, synchronization with the conduct defined on the handheld overrides desktop

  • Running Win7/64, WinXP Pro/32 and Ubuntu 9/64 in VMWare

I have a scanner Canon Canoscan 3200f requiring drivers for it to run. Win7/64 will not work with 32-bit drivers and when I tried to use the Microsoft Virtual PC and XP mode, it still leaves not the drivers install. What I've read, Canon, Epson and HP not fix ALL the 32-bit drivers on 64-bit (and how long it has been since XP Pro/64 came out?).

My PC is based on a mobo Gigabyte running an AMD Athlon 64 X 2 5400 + Black Edition CPU and 4 GB of RAM.

VMWare will allow material that requires and has only 32-bit drivers to install and operate? I want to run Win7 Pro, XP Pro and Ubuntu 9, the last so I can try to support my daughter recently built PC Ubuntu. Right now I'm trying to decide between VMWare Server, Virtual Box and 3 partitions on a 500 GB SATA drive.

    Thank you.

Since the host operating system that is running Server 2.x has no need for drivers, you should be able to have a 64-bit OS host (note that no office of operating systems are officially supported as guest operating systems and he attended problems reported with guests from Vista x 64 stuck at 95% at the start and it was not a version 2.x Server since Win7 is around) and then a 32 bits comments which, as long as it has a USB inside virtual adapter, should access the device to USB host ok. I use the word "should", because not all USB devices work - those who fail are usually those whose data rates are too fast for VMware to manage. Worth a search around to see if there are any reports of good or bad for specific devices.

    Good luck!

  • Fusion, Boot Camp and Ubuntu

Apple only supports Windows XP and Vista under Boot Camp and in turn VMware support that that Apple supports.  That said implementation of VMware Boot Camp market partition a Virtual Machine is wrong and can be problematic, because Apple does not guarantee the name of BSD to a Volume and VMware does not explain this and that has its own set of issues and has been covered before in this forum, so I will not repeat.  Now, that said if you really want to try to virtualize a training Camp does not support configuration you can try creating a Virtual Machine around him by using a raw disk, and this can be done with vmware-rawdiskcreator, so take a look at my answers in hard drive not found as a reference to the use of vmware-rawdiskcreator.

Also by default on a normal Boot Camp partition Fusion Virtual Machine cannot interrupt / Snapshot Boot Camp partition Virtual Machine and I do not know the parameters of Fusion 2.x to add Virtual Machines to the .vmx config file when manually creating a Machine virtual Boot Camp partition and warns the user if you Suspend or instant Boot Camp created manually partition the Virtual Machine and then run it natively you can potentially damage is beyond repair.

Now you really want to take any chances, virtualization of an operating system not supported on the Boot Camp partition with a product that does not even support an OS supported properly under the current circumstances?

  • Satellite C55 - A and Ubuntu - Maj CapsLock and numlock button LED still off

I use Ubuntu Desktop 14.04 and look at Desktop and LightDM. My Toshiba laptop is model Satellite C55-A-1JH (PSCG6E).
CAP and Num Lock works, but their led is still off.

I can't find driver Linux in the Toshiba support website. How to solve this problem?

You can't find drivers Linux because Linux is not supported by Toshiba.
Try visiting a Linux forum. Maybe you can find a small tip very useful there.

  • Satellite C855-12N and Ubuntu 12.04 - stop questions

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite C855-12N with new installed Ubuntu 12.04. My problem stops the system when the power adapter is connected. System stops, but after 3 seconds starts automatically again. Such a problem does not exist when the computer only works with the battery with the AC adapter / CC disconnected.
I removed the battery from the computer, and this problem when the adapter is connected also exist.

In addition, just for your information, keyboard is not working properly, it seems that the keyboard has been damaged for example when pulling 'a' letter 'q' appears, some keys don't work. Now I use only the USB keyboard. I would like to change the keyboard for the new service, but if there are other possible damage (. e.g. card mother AC adapter, connection, etc.) more serious problems can occur. Could you give me some advice how recognize the source of damages?

    Best wishes

    > I've been using Toshiba, but they say that this laptop does not support Linux, is - it true?

Well, saying Toshiba does not support Linux its meaning only there is no Linux drivers or tools on the page of the Toshiba driver.

You can install Linux, but the point is that you have to use it without any special Toshiba Linux driver

  • Virus, windows and Ubuntu

    Hello.
I have a toshiba satellite C660 and I have a virus. I have the recovery DVDs, this isn't a problem. I have installed Ubuntu on a partition of hard drive and I don't know if you are using the recovery DVD I can also remove Ubuntu.

We can restore the Windows system in the current partition?
    Thank you.

Toshiba uses two different recovery procedures and you can see on the follow-up document - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

I assume that your HARD drive recovery facility is described as installing a TOSHIBA HARD drive recovery tool. In this case, you cannot choose which partition OS is to be installed.
HARD drive recovery facility before any HARD drive will be formatted.
