Satellite C55 - A and Ubuntu - Maj CapsLock and numlock button LED still off

I use Ubuntu Desktop 14.04 and look at Desktop and LightDM. My Toshiba laptop is model Satellite C55-A-1JH (PSCG6E).
CAP and Num Lock works, but their led is still off.

I can't find driver Linux in the Toshiba support website. How to solve this problem?

You can't find drivers Linux because Linux is not supported by Toshiba.
Try visiting a Linux forum. Maybe you can find a small tip very useful there.

  • Keep Satellite C55-B901 connected even when the battery is 100%

    Hello

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite c55-b901, and I was wondering if it's good to keep the laptop plugged even after the battery is fully charged or not. Which would affect the battery life or it does not matter.

I also have a cooling block that keeps the freshness of the laptop.
Would you recommend that I keep it plugged in, keep using it when it is 100% and 10% only when charging and will stop when 100%, or use two meanings I like?

    Thanks in advance!

You don't have to worry about battery. You can use your laptop connected to the power adapter. What you can do is to use the battery mode from time to time. Do battery empty and reconnect the AC adapter.
You can do this in a week time.

  • Satellite C55 and trouble with the router

    Can Hi anyone help?

I just bought a laptop type Satellite C55 and put together yesterday and connected to my broadband fine, however on the machine today and everytine I connect it to the internet falls down the router and it restarts I have to turn off wifi before resetting the router, I have other devices connected fine but the laptop stupid it just hits?

    Please helpppppp?

    > It doesn't matter what web page, I try to load it just knocks off the router and disable wifi before it restarts.

You have to disable WiFi on your router or your laptop by pressing the power button WiFi function key?

From my point of few s notebook wlan card does not affect the functionality of the router.
But I recommend you to check the WLan s TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 settings.
You can try to disable the TCP/IPv6 protocol. In case its already disabled, try enabling this option. Make sure that the IP address DNS is set for automatic assignment.

You can also try to update the driver Wlan as well as to perform the reset of a router

  • Satellite C55-A-1N2 - Windows is broken and without access to the repair option

    Hello

One of my friends had a Satellite C55-A-1N2 nine November 2013 with windows 8.1.
    The serial number is: yd344983s

Initially, there was a problem with wifi.
I found a lot of adware...

I have uninstall most of them by hand and clean everything with adwcleaner.
The laptop works very well, I cut the DNS client service and add anti-pupsadware in the hosts file to prevent any new installation of adware.

Everything was ok and give again to a friend.
But the new commissioning, windows was slow, unable to connect wifi, enter in the config panel, do anything actually.

I tried according to manual, press F8 and power, but who turns just to log on windows.
I also tried F12 and tried to use the CD of windows 7 without success.

You have ideas of what I can do?
    This looks pretty bad.
    Thank you.

    Mickael
    France.

If you want to restart the laptop and use the repair options or recovery, you must perform the complete closure. How to do that you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
Reboot the laptop and if you want to use the repair options or recovery check it please the instructions on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm

PLESE NOTE: do not do some experiences before you have created a recovery media. Use the preinstalled recovery media creator tool and create recovery DVDs or USB.
If there is a problem, you can use this recovery media to reinstall the original version of Windows.

  • Satellite-C55-A-1NU - upgrade of RAM and SSD upgrade information

I have a Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1NU and I want to know if it is possible to replace the optical drive with an SSD? Can someone tell me what I need to do? What type of rack and SSD should I buy. Thank you

I also want to improve the ram memory, the laptop has only 1 slot 4 GB ddr3 1600 mhz, but is single channel. Which model should I buy to work in dual channel I use cpu-z to identify the model and it shows me hmt451s6mfr8a do I need exactly this or I can put another ty of manufacturing 2.

This upgrade with SSD is not supported by Toshiba, so everything you do is at your risk. Check this forum please. If I m remembering although some people have already posted own experiences.
I think that in most cases they ordered this caddy HDD/SSD but the drive was not recognized at all.

In my opinion, you must perform these updates.

    RAM
Up to 16 GB of RAM according to specification for laptop, you can put on level and on the lower part under the cover of memory, you should find two memory locations. How to change RAM is described in s. manuals check please page 72.

The memory modules are compatible RAM for your laptop model:
    4 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M4G
    8 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M8G

Ĺ’uvres driver and so on correctly because the test page can be printed. But when you want to print from Word the printer isn't or what do you mean by "GOGGLEDYGOOK".

  • Supported satellite R830-182 and SSD

Anyone know if there is news of SSD in Toshiba laptops?

I ask because I have a Satellite R830-182 and I recently purchased an OCZ Agility 4 and it is not detected by the BIOS.

I tried all the tricks in the book including the BIOS upgrade and switching between AHCI/IDE.

Research online, find posts on this topic.
The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen not to support other than their own brand SSDs. Is this true? And if so, is that still the case?

Someone suggested that [by pressing Pause | https://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=244444𻫜] before entering the BIOS would help.
    Has anyone tried this before?
Not sure that it is a viable long-term solution.

    Any other thoughts/advice on this?

    > Research online, I find messages on this particular problem.
    > The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen not to support other than their own brand SSDs. Is this true? And if so, is that still the case?

I have Toshiba laptop and I could upgrade the laptop with a SSD 250 GB from another manufacturer. One of my friends with Toshiba Satellite laptop also use another brand of SSD 2.5 drive.

But the fact is that the problems of compatibility between different devices (not always SSDS but other modules PCI as well) can happen and its nothing unusual in the world of large computing.

As far as I know that some R830 models are equipped with a ' Solid State Drive (SSD) instead of a hard drive. Type of SSD SATA 2.5 "SSD SATA type 256/512 GB and 1.8" 128 GB must be compatible. "
But its also a matter of SSD drive firmware. In many cases firmware drive SSD can be not BIOS supported.
In this case the SSD drive would not be recognized correctly.

  • Satellite A50 432 and WXP - bad keyboard mapping

    Hello

    first excuse my English

I have a satellite Satellite A50 432 with a 86 qwerty key and when I install windows xp I have a wrong map.

I try to find a driver appropriate on the toshiba support page in the archives, but I can't find the driver for the keyboard

    could you help me?
    Thanks for your response

The question is what type of keyboard language?
I googled around for Toshiba Satellite A50 432 and it seems that this device is released in Germany.
What is the German-language support keyboard?

In this case, you need to change the keyboard language to German also.
Go to the CONTROL PANEL-> REGIONAL AND LANGUAGE OPTIONS-> LANGUAGES tab.

    1. under the TEXT input AND LANGUAGE SERVICES, click the DETAILS button.
    2. under INSTALLED SERVICES, click Add.
    3. in the add input language dialog box, choose the input language and keyboard or input method editor (IME) you want to add.
    4. apply the settings. Now you should see a language icon in the system tray and you can switch between languages different keyboard by pressing the ALT + SHIFT.
