  I created a template to 8 Captivate, which includes several variables user and advanced actions (the model was created with Captivate 7.)

  When I create a new project from the template, Captivate automatically creates duplicates of all the variables user and advanced actions changing the names slightly (add numbers at the end). The thing is now I have twice as many actions and variables, and Captivate does not allow me to delete the shares referenced by the model. How to avoid this?

  Is it possible to return to the original set of variables user and actions on my project? Thank you.

  The upgrade often cause this kind or problems. Normally, you should be able to easily remove CP8 variables, but of course, I do not avoid upgrade especially when the characteristics have changed as is now done with stocks shared in CP8. I agree that it would be easier if the upgrade still worked smoothly, but learned after so many years with the software that it is rarely the case.

  The case you describe is perfectly suited for common actions, I even used it as an example in an online seminar I did (always for CP7) and definitely want to show it again if I ever get the chance to make another or provide training. Creating a library with shared actions that you can use over and over again now is no longer a daydream. No need for a model reuse advanced actions.

• Captivate 4 replay output SWF will slide to the last visited

  Hi, I have a Captivate 4 course published; full screen SWF, Flash 10, AS2, includes quiz questions optional not followed, unmarked, KNOCK, branch, no LMS reports, a certificate with the variable name widget. Everything works absolutely perfect when you first play the SWF file. But if read you again the SWF file, it loads the first slide, then quickly advances to the last slide visited, if it was the slide or if you leave anywhere in the middle. It occurs in all conditions: whatever the browser (IE, Firefox...), regardless of the method of opening a SWF file by restarting browser, 'open with', etc.  It's as if there is a bookmark to the flag and continue where the viewer was off.  But I can't find any setting for this?  I have published many, and this is the first time I met this. What I'm missing from the gurus? Thank you in advance for your help!

  You can check the settings of the table of contents: may individual learning is turned on? Which will store a cookie on the PC and will return to the slide where the user left, kind of bookmark indeed.

• CP8 Question: can I get the current URL path in a variable?

  I want to get the current. HTM path and name of the file into a variable.

  I created a user variable called myurl

  In slide 1 to the output, I used some javascript I found on the internet var myurl = window.location.pathname;

  On slide 2, I set a text caption to display the myurl

  I published and took my server project.

  The result was an empty box of legend.

  Please, someone could suggest what I should use.

• Problem with Firefox 13 certificate and secure Web sites

  I am using Windows 7 32 bit on a Dell laptop.

  Everything was going well until I've upgraded to Firefox 13 a few days ago. I can't not to connect to Web sites secured like Gmail, Amazon, etc.

  It works perfectly fine in all other browsers is not an OS related issue.

  I use ESET Smart Security 6.0 beta and he hasn't behaved badly with any application.

  I tried the basic solutions as compensation network, the browser history cache, etc. I also reinstalled 13 (own) of Firefox.

  There is no modules or extensions installed in Firefox. The Proxy is set to 'No Proxy'.

  Each click in gmail throws an "Untrusted" error, even if I get certificates and store them permanently.

  I also tried tweaking all: variable config like below, but did not work.

  Browser.XUL.error_pages.expert_bad_cert = true

  Please help because it is extremely difficult to work with these problems.

  I removed SSL scanning from ESET 6.0 and re-installed all the more recent Windows updates. Everything works fine now.

  This isn't an easy question to answer, there are a ton of variables to include

  If the redirect webauth URL is https://ise01.mycompany.com:8443/guestportal/login.action, the WLC is a redirect but the virtual IP address comes in 1.1.1.1, who was as trustworthy or redirection complains, then you may have to get the public certificate for the fqdn of 1.1.1.1, and the comment server. You can create a CSR using openssl or you can just enter in ISE and create a CSR, but you can only set CN = ise01.mycompany.com and nothing else, as long you have a single NHP is good, but if you have several Ssnp, you need to change your CSR so that you have to use openssl to create CSR using a file openssl.cnf and then with openssl, you do the following:

  openssl req - new - nodes-out openssl.cnf omf-01 - ise04.csr - config

  If I were a pirate, then I would do whatever to remain discreet. I would do my utmost to avoid attracting attention, for example by using an account name which comes out as the dog b... Or have you ever seen a thief walking the streets with a pinch bar and a large bunch of keys in the hands?

  What you see are the residues of the accounts that have been deleted in the past. You can remove these entries in the whitelists without fear.

  I explore APEX so that I can use it for ETL in BIC. I created a RESTful service in http://apex.oracle.com using the Oracle video and available documentation and then created a database application in the apex with form and reports. It is all good but when I run the form and enter the value of the variable I get this error below.

  I think it must be something to do with the certificate or user identification information, but where can I create and import the wallet. I'm not trying to access the url outside the site of the apex.  I tried to get some information about Ko, but he talks about the creation of portfolio and import, but it does not make any sense to me.

  You must configure the portfolio and ACL to the database instance where you want to consume web services HTTPS.

  In this case if you want to consume the web service on an application workspace apex.oracle.com, you must set up the portfolio and ACL on apex.oracle.com.

  And as apex.oracle.com is hosted Oracle apex Forum and it is intended for the purpose of demonstration only according to the warning posted on the site I think it is not possible to set up the wallet and the ACL because this requires access to the DBA database.

  The best possible alternative is to host your own instance of APEX.

• Actions and Variables are duplicated when I create the new model project

  My organization uses a standard model for our courses.  In this model, I added a few variables and advanced actions to enable to the learner to customize the course a bit and support our "test-out" option

  What I found however, is that when I create a new project of this model that all stocks advanced and variable are... reproduce some several times.

  And ideas on how to make this stop?

  Unfortunately, this is a known issue.  I pointed out about it here:

  As far as I know, the problem persists even in Captivate 9 If you create a template that has advanced Actions, and these actions are used by no slides in this model.  When you create a file CPTX of this model, Variables and advanced Actions are duplicated by about the same number of times that the advanced initial Action is used.

  You can test this by creating a simple project with two blades, a variable and a Standard Action that affects this variable with values. Define the event on slide enter on the second slide to run the Standard Action. Save the project as a model CPTL and then use this model to start another project CPTX file.  When you check the list of Variables and advanced Actions you will find that there is a duplicate of each.

• Displays the location in a variable

  Anyone know if it is possible to use the geolocation variable Cp8/9 to then search and display the location of the learner in another variable?

  I thought this would be a great way to add customizations in a piece of learning, but just don't know if it's possible, or how to do it.

  CAPTIVATE 8 ANOMALIES/SUGGESTIONS:

  (List collected running because I'm editing...)

  • Is there a reason to type a zero under the width of line objects and fill opacity? We have lost the ability as well, select it in the list somewhere of 5.5. Why we cannot drag the value or label with the mouse, the ala CP 5.5 or controls of Photoshop? Why Adobe did you remove apparently useful feature?
  • In the image crop dialog box, you can not keep maintain size checked and check the Proportion of constraint (that should constrain Proportion, btw - drop the t). So I can not simply crop the edge off of the image and keep it at its current size - not original.
  • Under properties > character, I can't click on the name of the font and other areas to bring the list of fonts or change the font settings. Seems a shame to lose all that space and designate the user click on the arrow icon only little. Slows me down every time. I think that the idea is to type the first letter of the name of the police or other, but this is different from measures taken of most the other selection fields to Captivate and not something that I find useful here. Other areas have "cliquabilite" characteristic of ground overall.
  • The color selection dialog gets stuck on the last color assigned when changing the color of the selected text in a text block. For example, if I want to highlight the different not contiguous words in yellow, you must click another color, the same color you just use (in this case yellow) so he can change.
  • Under Advanced Actions, I've lost the ability of CP 5.5, click the selection box, then type the first letter of an object to go to this place in the list by alphabetical order.   Fully agree that we should have the scrubber or a cursor as in other Adobe applications opacity and stroke width, or even have the symbol of the void.  Some fields have the cleaning brush, others not. I discovered that if you use the arrow keys to change the values and confirm you once, then the update on the stage is powered but in other Adobe applications, live from the beginning. I am labeling this incompatibility and was the first to be happy when CP5 approximates UI other Adobe applications and was very sad when it was done back much CP8.

  I try to avoid to do that in first Grade, it is after all not an image of the culture editor.

  For fonts, I type a sequence of characters to join the police desired, as 'mus' Museo, or "lat" to Palatino. As new filtering option (undocumented, at least that on my blog and online seminars a few I presented) is available in stocks advanced as well, very useful, more useful than the old alphabetical order allowing only the first letter. Same principle as the fonts: the proper order is OK. Label all forms starting with SS_ and typing which will filter on the intelligent forms. If I use (part of) the name of the slide, I'll get all the objects on this slide. It works as well for common actions. You will see that I do not accept to have chosen in the drop-down lists, which is for me personally improved MUCH since 6 or 7. Unknown gem maybe.

  On the themes, forget this "last color" thing, that I find totally useless myself since many versions. You now have theme colors, and if you want to learn more about them:

  I never use the palette that you're talking about, but the one under the first button in the color dialog box, which has 10 theme colors and 5 additional shades for every theme color. The link between the swatches Panel (you need to import an ase file) and the colors of theme could be improved, but it is already a big improvement on the previous color management. For most of the interactions, the colors of theme can be applied as well, not even for all.

  Since you don't seem to be a beginner, why do you stay with that (sorry for the word 'stupid') beginner UI? Check the 4th option in preferences, General settings and you will be able to reconstruct (partially, because minimizing panels or docks to icons is no longer possible, which is a shame), workspaces, and have all the panels in the window menu.

  Update a project from versions both of: 5.5, 6, 6.1, 7 and 8 is always risky.  Perhaps that explains what happened with variables, actions.
