Change color of Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7

So, I recently tried to change the color of my windows media player to match the kind of dextre, theme of blood spatter that I have going on, but I can not find the color picker. It's not where it was, if it exists at all in media player 12.

I don't want to install a theme, I just want to change the color of the player, as you could in version 10.

Hi retentivetoast,

Windows media player color picker options is not available in Windows 7.

You can change only of 'window color and appearance'

  • My Windows 7 computer updated automatically to IE10 and now I can't "change colors of window glass. Why is this?

I used to have the ability to "change the color of glass windows", but since the upgrade only option IE10 disappeared.  My Start menu and taskbar is now a clear blue color with white txt which is difficult to read.  Any ideas?

    Thank you!

If you have updated your Windows then uninstall the update of platform for Windows 7 (KB2670838) and your problem should be solved.

Before I updated my Windows this month I just checked if Microsoft still offer this update. This is in the optional list. I installed so I thought to manually upgrade to IE10 because he wasn't in the IE9 update list. So I did manually and after that check updates again and to my surprise this update has disappeared completely. I have an old PC as well, and after installing all the updates I still have no problems so far.
  • Windows Media Player 12 - no video, audio playback only

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (clean install) and will have issues playing any media in Media Player 12, which includes the video. For example, when I look in the library, I see the "Wildlife in HD" file (this is a .wmv) that is installed on my system. When I play the file, it starts without error but I can't hear the audio file, there is no image at all. If I play this file in Media Center, it plays perfectly. I have the same thing happen with the Landscapes.wtv file that the cam installed on my system. He plays in Media Center perfectly but I can't hear the Audio in Media Player.

I tried to remove and reinstall (using Add/Remove windows components) without modification. I clicked these types of files and used the default program choose and set Media Player, also no change. Right now the Media Player is only a music player. However, there is no problem to play .mp3 .wav. ect.

For now, I use VLC to play these file types, but it's annoying to have a $300 more operating system and for it to be so horribly broken.

If you can give advice or solutions, I'm all ears.

I have a possible solution, if you are running an NVIDIA GPU. I found that in the "Video color settings" Panel I had deselect the option use the NVIDIA control panel color settings. Media Player and Media Center work very well for me now. I don't know if it has made all the difference, or have had an impact, but I'm also using Spyder3 on my machine, for photo work.

Recently I had to restore my computer to factory settings.  I did back up disks for all my personal files, including my Limewire p2p files.  When I ripped the songs in p2p file media player, they all now show as AN unknown album.  I have entered the correct information for each song manually, but it still shows the all in one unknown album.  How can I put these songs back in their own files, each with its own album info?  I asked this before, but the only response I got was to direct me to add or change information about the media that did not help.  When I followed the directions of change, he put the same information on all 99 songs instead of just one, I tried to change.  I use Media Player 11, Windows XP.

It's a good question... have never used this software, but all software music packages are basically the same. BTW, I personally never use a format sync or auto program, I spend everything myself.
What is "drag and drop". Exactly like it sounds, you click left and hold the file/pic/mp3 that you want to move, and then drag to the new location where you want and 'falling' release the left button of the mouse.
Here is a tutorial on Windows Media Player... as I said, most of the music programs are quite similar.

  • Two questions. (1) RIP in media player 11 problems. (2) portable speakers do not turn off when the headset is plugged...

Hey all. I desperately need help. I have a laptop "Durabook" with Windows XP meidand service pack 3 update.  The internal speakers have never turned off when I plug a headset or headphone cable of the adapter into the outlet. It is an option that I have figured out. All my other laptops have silenced the computer speakers when headphones are connected.

The most frustrating problem I have is in Media Player when you use the tab OUT, when I insert a cd Ripper in the computer, it is not recognized.  If I close and reopen WMP (Windows Media Player) cd, the cover and all the info of the cd is here and ready to be torn APART. Once the cd ends and ejects I insert another cd and nothing happens. Once again, I've closed and reopened WMP and evrything is ready to be torn APART again.

Please please help.  I can't be the only one who had this problem.  I removed all anti-virus programs, removed and reinstalled WMP, twice.

    I'd appreciate any help.

    Thank you all

  • Media Player will not stop playing when the close button is hit.

My media player works fine until I try to close. When I watch a video clip, I make sure that I have 'stop' the clip before I "close" (the little red button with an X in it, which is suppose to close the program) the player or clip will continue to play in the background. If I brings up the Task Manager, it will display no programs running, I can still here the clip and I'm going to start > all programs > media player always plays the same clip. It is not suppose to do this right? If it is then how can I change so it 'close' media player?

    Hi major347,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft answers Community Forums.

This one seems to be really weird when you began experiencing this problem?

You have a connected PDA that uses the media player? Sometimes Windows Mobile Device Center has been continuously the reactivation of WMP.

Another possible issue of the keyboard that you use may control the media player. There are known of the problem with the Logitech keyboard software. Try this if you have a Logitech software update.

Try to open the Task Manager is trying to kill the wmpsideshowgadget.exe process and check if it shutsdown.

If it works there, then, open the CONTROL PANEL

    Double-click WINDOWS SIDESHOW

Uncheck everything that has to do with WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER

You can also try to disable sharing in media player click on... Tools-> Options-> library-> configure share-> uncheck the two 'media find others to share' & "share my media".

    Check if it works.
