    Hi @Dnwosu3 ,

    Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. It's a great site for information and questions. I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv9700 Notebook and problems with sound after a recovery.  Here is a link whichshows you how to fix no sound. It includes a fix from Microsoft that works very well. The topic indicates it is for Vista but works exactly the same for Windows 7.

    Hope this fixes the noise.

    Thank you.

  • I have a pavillion dv9700 and I can't go on the internet.

    Can someone help me? I have downgraded to windows XP operating system because my laptop lost everything, now I can't go on the internet. I downloaded the HP wireless driver, but it doesn't work. When I try to connect to my router it says enable the network adapter. The wireless will not let me enable it to... This is but the Activate button is cleared up on and it will not allow. My Device Manager shows no adapter.

    Thanks, but I already tried that and it still does not work. I followed another link that someone put on a different model and it worked. The wireless is now activated. My problem has been resolved.

    I found the cbs.log file but when I tried to open it I get access denied. Found a similar question in another post, but was unable to find a solution. Running Vista Home Premium SP2 64 bit on a HP Pavillion dv9700 Windows 7 or IE8. Also tried to copy the documents as suggested in another post and ran as administrator on the command line without a bit of luck. Other simple suggestions are appreciated.

  • Faulty video display

    I have a HP Pavillion DV9700 with a defective screen.
    The video system is: Nvida GeForce 7150 M/nForce 630 M
    Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit

    The fault can be described as follows:

    The screen shows a series of very thin (less than 1 mm) vertical bands forming the actual image, alternating with dark vertical bands also less than 1 mm wide, across the width of the screen. It's a bit like the screen through a vertical Venetian blind whose slats are less than 1 mm. This translates into small texts being almost unreadable...
    If I connect an external monitor, the display on the external monitor is perfect.

    I've updated the video drivers to the latest version, but I think that it is probably a hardware problem and not a software...

    I'd appreciate any help.

    Thank you

  • Replaceable graphics card? upgrade-able?

    I have a HP pavillion dv9700 which took graphic errors.  I had several screens blue, few and far between, and finally today as I was loading the login screen of World of Warcraft, it froze, audio, video, all frozen like a broken record, so I had to hard reboot the computer.  When he returned, he had a resolution of 800 x 600 and appear to be using the onboard graphics instead of the Nvidia GeForce 8400 m GS.  The drivers are up to date, but Windows 7 doesn't see this card and gives me an error.  World of Warcraft does not load because it tells me that I don't have a compatible graphics card.

    "World of Warcraft could not find a proper graphics card, please check that your graphics driver is up to date and that you are not running in SafeMode (VGA).  For more information, please visit http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/driver-update-information"

    Please advise on what the next step should be.  This card is replaceable? and if then... upgrade-able?  What this will lead to correct?  I am able to use the machine, but with a lower graphics capability.

    He is no longer under warranty and had windows 7 installed on it at this stage.

    Yes, that will fix it.

    If you want to go this route, it is your prerogative.

    It will require a lot of work and work on a laptop with everything this old overheated, fragile plastic is nothing like working on a desktop computer.

    Here is the link to the service manual.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01951704.PDF

    You will find the list of motherboards with the HP numbers in Chapter 3, page 21.

    Removal and replacement procedures are in Chapter 4.

    Good luck

  • Laptop HP Pavillion 15-p051u: HP Recovery Manager should be able to change the computer creating media?

    I'm doing the original backup set of DVDs for a laptop HP Pavillion (15-p051us) 15. Due to an error, I'm afraid to continue.
    I got to speak with a HP tech person, who helped me to pass the second record to DVD. now, I'm trying to start the burning of the third DVD of backup recovery. When I click on the button to launch the "HP Media creation" I get interrupted with a window which shows:

    ***********************************************
    * User account control *.
    ***********************************************
    *                                                                                          *
    * Want to allow the following program *.
    * to make changes to this computer?                      *
    ***********************************************
    * Program name: HP Recovery Manager *.
    * Verified Publisher: Hewlett Packard Company *.
    * Original folder: hard drive on this computer *.
    Program location: "C:\Program Files\ (x 86)."
    * Hewliett-Packard HP Recovery Manager\ *.

    ***********************************************
    *                           Yes     No                                              *
    ***********************************************

    I obviously don't want to change the program to backup for me when I'm not finished to make the backup. (As I've noted, two DVD's burned and verified. Four still needed.) But when I click on the button 'No' to say "don't edit my computer now until I finished the last four DVD" disappears from the user account control window and the creation of HP recovery media is not engaged. My first two questions are (1) why my computer wants to interrupt the creation of my 6 DVD recovery until the work is done? (2) it would be safe for me to click on the 'Yes' button or what may cause a fatal error in the backup process? In a note, I would like to report that the person HP with whom I spoke on the phone mentioned the fact that the error can be caused by lower DVD media. To counter this notice I tried three DVD good nine successive State. I used more than a dozen DVDs of this package on another computer. With these, he had no problem with registration, verification or later to read these DVD. If my guess is that it is unlikely three of them failing in the HP computer. I don't think that's the problem. I read through 60 first found elements that were identified when I did a search on the website of HP using the key phrase 'Recovery Manager change'. This has proved a total of 7499 possible Articles, but I looked through 60 without success.

    Answer Yes to user account control. This is the irritating feature of Windows that assume at all times that you don't know what you're doing. HP Recovery is harmless and should have access to the files on hard drive.

    For example, you could get the same question when you try to install the software for a printer, etc. and would answer Yes - you would answer no if a piece of malware slipped on your system and UAC taken he's trying to make changes and pointed out.

  • Change of modem wireless on HP Pavilion dv9700 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC

    I have a model laptop DV9700 CTO Entertainment Notebook.  It came with a modem Wireless 'G '.  I wonder if I can change the internal modem into a wireless "N".  I know I could install a modem to USB port and select that make my connections but USB ports are a bonus and I prefer to do the internal switch.

    Is this possible. ?  HP makes a modem of replacement in the "N" category for this laptop. ? I searched around and can't seem to find a part to study number.

    Don't forget that some 802.11n Intel modems use a configuration triple antenna as well. This means that the replacement of the modem (if Intel) requires a display of both replacement block.

    An accurate answer requires better identification of your laptop.

    Look at the label with barcode at the bottom of your laptop. After all, there, except the serial number.

    Here is a link to the maintenance and Service Guide.

    All the information found in the manual. The trick is to know how to use the manual.

    Yes it is possible.

    You will need to disable the sata drivers in the bios and set it to IDE.

    You can integrate SATA drivers to make installation easier.

    First install the chipset driver and restart the computer. Then install all other drivers.

  • The change of motherboard Pavillion DV9500 - compatibility

    Hello

    I have a computer portable pavilion DV9500 (code dv9541ev), and as usual for these series, the NVIDIA GPU failed. I got scratches on the screed and the resolution is 640 x 480.  I tried reformatting the chip bad using a heatgun, but I made it worse. Now I think to replace the motherboard. I find many of them on Ebay, but I think that they all are reorganized and I'll end up the same question soon. The reference number of the motherboard is 447982-001.

    I noticed that there are also similar motherboards, not having is not the NVIDIA chip, but the integrated INTEL graphics card. The one I found has p/n 447984-001.

    I was wondering if this motherboard can replace my original one, to have the Intel graphics instead of an Nvidia chip that failed on most people. Both motherboards can use the same Intel processor, from the pictures, I see that they have the same connectors etc. The only difference I see is that the other doesn't have the NVIDIA chip welded. I enclose also a few pictures.

    Does anyone have knowledge on this issue. Any help will be much appreciated

    .

    Kind regards

    Konstantinos

    Yes it works perfectly. The mounting holes are in the same place. You could end up with an empty port or must use a dremel tool to open a small hole on the side, but the Commission will work very well.
