Change my hard drive

Hey,.

I use a MacBook Pro early 2009 (MBP52.008E.B05 of boot Rom, unable to update to this version) El Capitan 10.11.5 and want to change my original with a new SSD hard disk drive to get "a faster Mac.

No problem with installation of the new hardware but then...  I made a copy of backup using Time Machine (drive hard usb) and reboot by pressing cmd + R keys with my backup on, hoping that I could start over from my Time Machine backup and copy this disc on my drive hard new, but... nothing happens.  Only, I get a grey screen.

Any ideas?

You formatait the new SSD in disk utility > erase to Mac OS extended (journaled)?

I suggest you reinstall the original HARD drive (which I suppose is functional and has your data on it).

Connect the SSD to the MBP via USB (if not formatted, format it now).

Carbon Copy Cloner allows to clone the HDD to the SSD: https://bombich.com/

CCC will ask you if you want to have the copied recovery partition, do.

When cloning is complete, restsrt the MBP and start the MBP with the OPTION key.

The SSD should appear.  Click on it.  If she starts the MBP and then make the Exchange with the HARD drive.

Ciao.

    Hi all

    I need assistance with Windows.

So I tried with Windows XP CD recovery and no problem
I'd rather have windows Windows 7 but I do not know how to retrieve
Last information, the Windows XP CD recovery came with the laptop that Windows 7 was made by the store who sold me the computer.

    Thank you for your help

As far as I know there is not a kind of limitation and if there is no problem with the original recovery for Win7 disc, you should be able to install it on any HARD disk that you use with your machine.
I upgraded HDD to the SSD on my installation of picture machine and the restore worked without any problems.

To be honest, it is not easy to say what the problem is here, but the Win7 installation disc is somehow suspect for me. I don't know what model of laptop you have exactly, but somehow, I feel you didn t get original drive Win7. Best evidence is the Windows XP Home edition recovery disk. The prinziple with Win7 is the same and it should works.

When you use this disk you should have the menu as shown on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

This document explains how this works with the original installation disc of recovery.

  • NB550D - 10G - do I lose the warranty after change of HARD drive?

I would like to change the HARD drive in my Toshiba NB550D - 10G for one SSD drive.
Could someone tell me if I lose my warranty after doing this? I would also like to know evolves from 1 GB ram to 2 GB would indeed lose the warranty?

    Thanks for the help!

No, I think that you that the warranty would be unaffected if you remove and replace the HARD drive.
The HARD drive and memory are parts extensible user and replace this part will not void the warranty.

  • Change the HARD drive in the laptop Satellite P10-304

I bought a new hard drive for my laptop toshiba satellite sp10, can someone tell me were the hard drive is in the laptop, so I can change it as it does not tell you in the instructions booklet

    Hello

For some portable models change HARD drive is very simple and not complicated. Change the HARD drive in your case will be not so easy, and in my opinion, you should contact the service partner. I don't know how old is your laptop, and if the warranty is still valid, but as Tobi said if you open the Briefcase with laptop computer on your own, you can lose the warranty.

I don't know, but the HARD drive should be placed somewhere under keyboard because on this model there is no coverage of HARD drive in the lower corner.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P10 - how to change the HARD drive?

    Hello

I want to change my Satellite P10 for a bigger HARD drive.
But I Don t know how to remove the DvD drive.

On this laptop, I mean that the HARD drive is under the DvD drive.

Please help me, if you know how to change the HARD drive.

    Welcome them

    Mister_X

    Hi Frank,.

I'm not too sure about the P10, but on my A30 the hadr drive is under the DVD-ROM. It is secured in place by a single screw (accessible from under the laptop), and when it is deleted the DVD-ROM slides just to place revealing the hard drive.

The hard drive is fixed with 4 screws (2 on each side)

  • Cannot access my backup time machine on external hard drive once I changed my hard drive

Since I changed my hard drive on my mac pro book I can't access the time machine back up on my external hard drive. All the shows when I connect the hard drive, but I can't access it.  Any ideas?

I use El Captain MacBook Pro (15-inch mid-2012),

By changing the hard drive, you have also lost all preferences, including those for Time Machine. You can have success by cloning back from the old system to the new drive to get back them.

Or, simply erase the backup drive, reconfigure Time Machine preferences, then let time Machine do a new backup.

  • Changed the hard drive and stays of Windows vista is not genuine

Original title: why do need me a new product key
My computer stopped working and a new hard drive has been implemented. Now my computer asks for a product key and my computer says that I am using a windows vista that is not authentic. My background goes black and won't keep any substance I put in place.

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community!
You have reached the right forum for your question.

This problem occurs because you changed the hard drive. When a change is made in the hard disk of the windows vista system will ask you to activate.

To activate Windows Vista by using the automated telephone system, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, and then click computer.
    b. click System Properties on the toolbar and then click here to activate Windows now in the Windows activation section.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    c. click Show me other ways to activate.
    d. click on use the automated telephone and then follow the instructions.

You can also navigate to the link below and try to follow the steps to reactivate the copy of Vista.

  • change the hard drive in the Pavilion all-in - one ms228

My hard drive has stopped working on my Pavillion ME 228 all in an office.   I found a replacement at a reasonable price.  I bought this computer in France a couple of years ago, it came with windows 7 family in french with a keyboard french azwerty.  Now, I have to change the hard drive is possible to put on Windows 7 'Ultimate' in English (I have the disc) and English qwerty keyboard would work on this subject?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Yes, you can install Windows 7 Ultimate English and plug an English keyboard. It uses only a keyboard USB, right? Computers have no nationality... they will take the language of the hardware and software you install on them.

If the computer did not come with Ultimate you will need a new key Code. You can install the English version of the Windows 7 level it came with (probably Home Premium) using your own key Code.

  • HP pavilion dv6-7029wm recovery kit lose after changing the hard drive

    Hello

Recently, I changed the hard drive after the old one crashed, so I need the recovery kit, but the site it says shipps only in canada or the United States

as I left the States, how can I get them?

where can I download the recovery image and burn it to a DVD?

    Hello

Another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the Disk Image correct ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

I'm running an integrator system Windows 7 64 bit on an older system. What I would do is change the hard drives for some more great and maybe change the CPU. Is it possible to re - install the generator in system because I'm not changing the motherboard?

Yes, you can reinstall Windows 7 OEM System Builder License on the new hard drive with the new processor.

It will not be a problem in this case, since you don't "move" installation, you are doing a new installation. The less it will take is activation of the phone, as you change the hard drive:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.
