  I suggest you follow these methods and check.

  Try to delete everything in this folder (but not the folder itself): C:\Users\s \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Window Live\Services\Cache\weather.  I saw a post where it worked for someone else (and obviously others or it would not have been suggested).

  If this does not work, try to change the gadget to another location and see if it works there.  If so (or if not), then change it back and see if it works now again as it should.

  Reset you the weather gadget? By reset, I mean - shut down (close it) and then add it again. Might work as it does with Notes: course notes are deleted when you close the gadget / current weather parameters are ignored. It's worth a try if you have not already tried it.

  BTW, Internet Explorer works?  I read somewhere that if it wasn't (although Firefox or Chrome or something else was), then some of the gadgets would be updated.

  Unfortunately, Microsoft has stopped support for Gadgets and recommended not to use them for security reasons.

  Well, not to beat a dead horse, Active Desktop cannot compare to the functionality of Gadgets and has fewer security holes. Both you get full access to Windows features, but gadgets are not related to ActiveX, but rather DHTML in the Protected Mode OFF of your browser instance. I suggest that you look over some of the most basic gadget tutotials. As a writer, I waited my whole life to computer for gadgets. (Finally, since DHTML anyway :)))

• Commissioning changed update of Yahoo, Aol, and unwanted Gadgets. Cannot access 'my documents' why the invasion?

  This is the second time in 2 months.  The background was different and a lot of gadgets appeared on a sidebar that I have never on my desk. When I tried to get on the internet for some answers, I found that my home page had been hijacked by Yahoo.  I never use yahoo or use the stuff from AOL which appears as a separate tab.

  For the first time, it happened a few months ago I was denied access to 'my documents' and a few others and left unresolved to regain this access or reason why it happened.

  The experience of the first time was scary and I restored my computer to an earlier date.  I then, out of fear, went through a process of verification of all my financial ties and conducted a full credit check to get a piece of mind that this was not a question a change caused by a bug, worm or another predator of the computer.

  How can I avoid that this does not happen and how can I regain access to my files that have been saved?

  I'm not very high technology so need some simple advice on this issue.

  Weather detailed are collected on the Internet and then displayed in the gadget, then I would say that you check the location settings in Internet Explorer. Follow the steps.

  Please, perform the following steps:

  a. click the Start button, type intl.cpl in the start search box and then click intl.cpl in the list programs.

  b. click the Format tab, and then in the current format list, select the format you want to use for your region.

  c. click on the location and then tab in the current location list, click the location that corresponds to the area which lies on the Format tab.

  d. close the regional and Language Options dialog box.

  I don't know, I never disabled Gadgets myself as I like the gadget to use CPU/RAM. But Microsoft recommended disabling some time ago. Maybe, if they are disabled is the effect it gives?
