  I need to change the size of the font of the numbering of the pages in my document page 300 + in the version of Indesign CS4. Page numbers have been created automatically, but without the use of a block of text type (it was launched in the CS3 version, as I understand is not this feature). Is there a way to automatically change the font size of all page numbers at a time? It would be preferable to cross and change them manually.

  This 'A' is the marker. If you select it, you should be able to change the formatting (you are of course, now the other masters are based on 'A' or were just confusing the letter for something else?) and unless the marker has been replaced on the (highly unlikely on a long book) page document, the numbers should be updated on the live pages. Try something drastic like change the color as well as the size, then replace the master to a page. If the number was overloaded, you should see the old version on top of the other.

• Problem with the text block, put in place when it is used on the page number marker

  Hello!

  I would use the text block on the marker page number on the master page in Indesign. The text block should change width when increases the page number. It does not work. What happens is that when the number of page moves a two-digit figure, the numbers tightened itself (compressed on top of each other) and the block of text changes size unless I drag on it (which means I have to manually unlock the master page first).

  I'm doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

  Two alternative approaches are: create a hereditary page master or a mater page number style changing existing. Both approaches involve the need to change the style of an existing page, numbering system. There is a lot of advice to insert numbers page from scratch, but I can't find the hook to select the page number text to change the paragraph style. I tried to select the layer that contains the page number, but can't access the text box for the page number itself.

  Probably you need to create a new layer to contain the number and put it at the top of the stack if it is not hidden.

  On any given layer, of the master page objects are behind document page objects.

  If the new page number is available, you can just make copy as shown above and use this new page number. Once this is done, simply remove the old page. I don't think that you can rename any number of the existing page.

  I'm working on a book that has pages with black background and some with white background... I need to know how to change the color of each page number, so that they will be visible on the black background.

  I tried clicking on the page number, cmd + shift click... nothing seems to work. I have all the page numbers on a separate layer, because they were hidden behind the images that I place on each page... I don't know if it's important.

  My best advice is to make a second set of master pages with white numbers and apply them as needed.

• Problem with the implementation of the page number in the BATCH and LOF

  I did a lot of books with table of contents, the LOT and LOF all work fine.  They look all pretty normal:

  Table 123 - table... name < page number >

  or

  Figure 123 - name Figure... < page number >

  But now I have a case where the «...» ' is not the case, and the <>page number is just crushed against the table name without a space between the name and the page number.  This happens only to the BATCH and LOF.  The table of contents looks very good.

  I guess it's something in the Pages of reference that I messed up, but I can't understand what happened so I can fix it.

  FOUND!  Thanks Bob for pointing me in the right direction.  It was exactly this tab stop setting.  The editor is in Europe (narrow pages).  So, while our records (with the size of the American page) and their corresponding files, I found that the framework does not KNOW a tab stop that pushes the text beyond the right margin.  When I reduced the tab stop it as magically started working.

  The silence of the tab stop ignorant was the confusing part.  He was there when you looked into the source files, it just never appeared in the finished product, and there is NOTHING to indicate why!

  Automatic page number does not work correctly. It shows the Slovak character.

  I suspect that the language attribute is set to Arabic. Try to select the paragraph with the page number on the master page and the English language.

  I use a customized version of the FindChangeByList Script included in inDesign. What it does currently is output in a log file with any changes made in the document and all of the changes.

  I would like to add a page number for each of the changed items, but so far have not been able to find a way that actually shows the number of the page. Is this possible?

  I do not understand why you are doing the replacement the way you do, but maybe it's because the constraints that imposes the FindChangeByList script. The problem is in this line:

  var pageNum = myFindPreferences.parentTextFrames[0].parentPage.name;
  

  findPreferences is not parentTextFrames. You must use myFoundItems and collect the page numbers of each article found, something like this:

  var pageNumbers = [];
  for (var i = 0; i < myFoundItems.length; i++) {
     pageNumbers.push (myFoundItems[i].parentTextFrames[0].parentPage.name);
  }
  

  then later:

  logInfo = logInfo + "\n" + chopEndFind + " changed to -> " + chopEndChange + " on pages " + pageNumbers.join(',');
  

  Moreover, you can delete these four lines of 'cut' and change the line loginfo as follows:

  If you're talking about changing the number of sides of a polygon existing, forget it. Illustrator does not direct form primitives.

  If you speak to change the number of sides to which the tool is set, the page AltClick to call the tool dialog box.

If you have a problem like that reported lack of cloud Ltd, then clear the cache and cookies of your browser, restart the browser and try again. You can also try a different browser. You shouldn't have a problem, but I just wanted to notice how badly pushes the question where you do.

  Most of the time I can take care of unattractive line breaks in the table of contents by putting in the nonbreaking spaces in a paragraph.

  However, sometimes I have a situation where a table of contents entry text is too close to the page number right. The text is so close to the page number as in some not case of presentation of points of the leader, or show only one or two points of leader.

  Writing and its adjustment page number on one line, then putting in the nonbreaking spaces won't solve the problem. I could put in a soft return (SHIFT-ENTER) in the table of contents entry to force a line break, but it is not effective because I have to put in the soft return manually every time the table of contents are updated.

  If someone has a tip on how to effectively manage this problem, I would like to know about it.

  Some time ago, someone posted a solution to make the line nice breaks in the index entries. It's setting values of the minimum and maximum word spacing in the paragraph Designer. The values validated it did not worked for me, so I played a little with it and use the following syntax:

  In the paragraph format for table of contents entry, set the maximum word spacing of 325% and oral minimum spacing to 275% and the optimal spacing to 100%. Note the fact that the optimum is NOT between the minimum and maximum values. I don't know the algorithm that Frame uses to decide where the line break, but I'm guessing he first decides to break the line to fill the max and min requires, breaks the line, but changes the spacing back 100%, which is what you want then, in other words, we don't want large spaces.

  The causes of values above a line break about an inch or two to the right margin. If you want to close, try 225 percent and 175 percent. I found that over these two issues of line breaks occur further from the right margin.

  This method does not have to enter the manual line breaks and gives a nice line break, even for those rows that could fit on a single line.
