Change partitions g6-1170sp HD

I just want to know if can I delete all partitions or the HP tools, we're tied with bios, making it dangerous to remove.

Product number: LS303EA #AB9

Current OS: Win7 (but this message is for when the upgrade of win8)

Currently the partitions as they are (automatically created):

-System;

-C: (principal, for windows)

-Recovery (d :))

HP - Tools (e :))

I'll install Windows 8 in there early (my school finally got premium dreamspark, yes I know it is only a win8 2 years license, but until then, I'll buy Windows 9, probably), and as I do so I would like to completely re - format the HARD drive.

I want to know witch ones I can safely remove...

My goal would be to have:

-120 GB windows (* cof * cof games *) partition

-120 GB linux partition (main apps and GRUB for bootin options)

-400 GB of shared data (music, photos, etc.) between the 2 systems (it may be secondary to one of these btw? if so the two systems would still be able to see?)

Tools - HP (probably, for the safety of the bios) or no additional partitions at all

Bonus question: Windows boot manager GRUB vs for this configuration?

What version of Linux you think to install? You do not need to worry about which partitions to keep. When you perform a clean installation of Windows 8 it will want to blow all existing partitions and create 4 partitions. There is a lot of disagreement on the internet right now on the best way to do it, but I found this tutorial that seems simple enough. Install Windows 8 first. Thein installing Linux. Personally, I like the GRUB bootloader and if you install Linux on Windows, that's what you're going to end up with.

  • Bootcamp for repair after changing partitions in El Capitan

(For a better format version, please visit this link.) I did have luck with answers on itself)

I wanted to create a shared partition that I could access between my install Bootcamp and OS X I have been on Yosemite and utility disk would allow me to resize or create new partitions, but I heard that I could do it by upgrading to El Capitan.

It worked well, I could reduce my OSX partition and create a new partition with the remaining space, however, when I try to start directly in my bootcamp partition running Windows 8.1, I now get an error:

Your PC needs to be repaired

    An unexpected error has occurred.

    Error code: 0xc000000e

According to some messages that I found, this may indicate that the hybrid MBR is damaged and needs to be recreated, so I tried this by following this link.

I also tried to boot into a Windows and running recovery disk

    bootrec /rebuildbcd

but it does not work. It returns

The requested system device cannot be found.

So, looks like it has something to do with my EFI partition, because according to other messages, maybe I need to assign a drive letter to the EFI partition, but it does not appear when I use diskpart. I see the output similar to:

    > list vol

Volume ### Ltr Label        Fs  Type      Size    Status

    ---------- --- ------------ ----- --------- -------- ----------

    Volume 0 E IRV_CCSA_X6      UDF  DVD-ROM  4120 MB  Healthy

Volume 1 C BOOTCAMP        NTFS  Partition 93 GB    Healthy

    Volume 2 D Removable                        0 B      No Media

However, I think that's because I see when I run diskutil in OS x:

    $ diskutil list

    /dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

     #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER

    0: GUID_partition_scheme *500.3 GB disk0

    3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk0s3

4: Microsoft Basic Data Storage 58.7 GB disk0s4

5: Microsoft Basic Data BOOTCAMP 100.1 GB disk0s5

    /dev/disk1 (internal, virtual):

    #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER

I even tried refined, that doesn't seem to change anything.

Another note, my Windows partition is fine, because I can always start using Parallels, just a direct start in Bootcamp is not.

I am quite confused where to go from here. Nothing seems to work and I've tried several dozen approaches with no luck. How can I fix Bootcamp?

Article Nerder is one of the worst possible solutions and causes more data loss. It also provides a clear warning. Can you post the output of the following OS X Terminal commands?

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.

  • Change Partitions and install Windows 7 Ultimate

I have 2 GB of ram & when I bought my Sony laptop, I got Best Buy Geek Squad partition my 150 GB C:\ drive to have a G:\ and H:\ drive partitions. I want to remove or delete partitions G:\ & H:\ and C:\ use all of the 150 GB less space reserved for shadow copies of backup.  Disk Mgr, I cannot extend the C:\.volume. After I develop C:\ I want to upgrade Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate, or install a full version of Windows 7 Ultimate, regardless of the method will work best... All my data is backed up & I have all my DVD software if I have to reinstall all my programs.  What is the simplest and most accurate procedure to implement these two changes? Aka VDS disk management won't allow C:\ to extend its volume in the free space of 50 GB. For some reason, backups of photos take almost all C:\ 100 GB with free space only 1.45 even after I have remove all except the most recent backup.  I am very frustrated and if I knew how, I would go in the BACK, rub everything and load Windows 7 Ultimate full version and start all over again, but I don't know enough to know if it will work.  I appreciate your instructions... Thank you.

Since you have backups of your user files and your programs can be installed again, the simplest method is the one that is most likely to lead to a stable system of Windows 7 for long distances. Boot from the Windows 7 DVD. Use the facilities on the DVD to remove all the present partitions. Next, install a new Windows 7 system hard disk. Once completed the installation stage, let the system updated with all the security and update other Microsoft offerings. Then, install your programs, and copy backup your user files.
It is also possible to boot from the Windows 7 DVD and use its facilities to remove G and H. Then you can develop C to fill up the drive and install Windows 7 on C.
There are tutorials on Details he to do that and other options on the web.

  • Follow-up change partition and swap partition

    Hello

    Using oracle 11.2.0.3.

We have a summary table which has replaced entire partitions every night by an exchange of partition whenever data is modified. for us to have a compression.

This table is composite date range / hash-partitioned

We are consideruing either to build a summary table or mview on this summary with the same strategy partitionin table.

A read partition the track changes to refresh this second mview since requires no newspapers mview but was wondering if would work in our scneario.

Anyone know if it would work - make some conditiosn must be met for 'updating fast/incremenatl' take place.

Now second summary table/mview would be simple counties + sum of data in the first table aggregated measures but high in order to reduce the amount of data.

Achieve couldn't track the separate use if wanted to use partition change.

    Thank you

What you have said I think you could make this work.

On the other hand, if you do not have 'normal' mview updates via a mview diary and only refreshing the mview as a side effect of the exchange of partition I consider simply write the code to make your table a partitioned table, write 'create in select' / 'Exchange' in order to keep the summary table.  It would be probably more effective than the generic approach of Oracle.

  • Changing partitions...

My Mac is saved on an external LaCie drive that has multiple partitions, as shown. It is rarely used and has 17 GB of unused space that I want to add to the partition of LaCie SuperDuper.

How can I move it's space, bringing together two icons on the desktop?

You cannot "merge" two partitions. It would mean so reformat the disk and selecting a new partition scheme.

  • How to set the size of the partition you want on the Satellite C850-12D with W7 Pro?

    Hi all
I recently got a new laptop, Satellite Pro C850-12D with seven Pro: disk (500 GB) is first broken down like this:
    -a hidden little, 1.46 GB
-the folder C: one, Go 449,47 (visible by the user)
    -a hidden, 14.83 Gb

I would reduce the C: 100 GB partition in order to create a new one for the DATA.

So, I begin the process by using seven disk management tools, but the disposable size after reduction seems limited to a maximum of GB 226,685: C is greater than or equal to 233 570 GB.

I tried defragmenting C but its minimum size is 233 570 GB

Is there a method to overcome this limit and achivce my goal of 100 GB?

    Hello

I highly recommend creating a recovery disk before you change partitions on the HARD drive!
The Toshiba recovery media creator helps you create this disk and this are necessary in case something would be wrong with your HARD drive.

Back to the question of the partition:
You will need to use a 3rd third party tool like * Gparted * in order to change the size of the partition.

  • How can I configure Satellite A300-148 boot from the recovery partition?

    Hello

I had some problems when trying to install MAC - OSX, for her, where the partition table is deleted, then I retrieve the entire score as it is, but I can not start in any case.
Then I decide temproraly install another copy of vista drive Vista (not the partition), then set up my laptop to boot from the recovery partition and reinstall the good copy.
My problem is, it's all here, the only problem is, I need to configure the system to boot from the recovery partition.

    My device is:
    Satellite A300-148

    Thanks to the device.
    Ahmed.

    Hello

If you have already changed the partitions of HARD drive and deleted files from the HARD disk, then your HARD drive recovery is too bad!

But to make sure that the HARD drive recovery is not possible please press F8 immediately after the power of the laptop. Usually a start menu should appear and you should be able to choose the option called fix my computer. Then you should be able to choose recovery option.

But like I said that this is only possible if your HARD drive was not formatted!

If you have formatted the HARD drive and changed partitions then you will need a Toshiba DVD recovery that you have not because you didn t he create at the beginning. Is this good? Well, then you must order the recovery DVDs if you want to retrieve the laptop to factory settings.

    Welcome them

    Hi Tyler

I tried with /secureboot command line switch, but its not allow me to change partition to NTFS format.

Answer me as soon as possible

    Thank you

    Deepak

    Deepak,

To start under UEFI, you need to boot from a FAT32 partition and since USB Thumb drives allow only one partition, the tools for FAT32 only locks. A secondary drive which is NTFS, or even a network drive could be used to store your WIM files if they are bigger, then the limitation of 4 GB to FAT32. Just start with the key USB ImageAssist and point the tool corresponding to the NTFS drive or use it to map a network drive.

  • Adding partition in the cos

    Hello

On one of my servers of homelab, I can't seem to add local storage as a vmfs volume. I have two identical hosts with 650 GB of local hard disk in it. Host esx03 I have on the part of those 650 GB configured for the COS and the remaining part as local VMFS volume. But on the host esx04, I can't seem to configure it.

    ESX03:

    Hi n,

It seems that the partition is in fact not be written correctly, which is usually the case when I/O is the disk that you are trying to update. Unfortunately, this creates obvious problems when dealing with local disk.

First of all, I would recommend using the ESX partedUtil command. That's what the VI client calls on the back-end when the host application to perform the work with partitions.

If partedUtil does not write successfully the partition, boot disk rescue/live Linux of your choice. The Linux operating system will run entirely in memory, so no I/O does happen directly on the drive, which will allow you to change the table to partition without difficulty.

It may be easier to use the tool to free opensorce, GParted (http://gparted.sourceforge.net/).

    See you soon!

  • External HDD DWC 3 130 TB good size and lost data

    Hello

I have all the backup data on my external HARD drive and other important data photos.
I have a problem with my laptop and I used the backup (MBR, etc.).

I also use Partition Wizard Home edition to resize my hard drive in my laptop.
Unfortunately, after that in windows 8 Toshiba external HARD drive disappear.

I used two software to find out what happened.
One does not find the Toshiba HDD, the second find the HARD drive, but first of all, the size which show me was 14.66 TB and all partitions and data was missing.

How to solve this problem and how to recover my data?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I guess that's your HARD drive:
    http://www.Toshiba.com/us/accessories/storage/Canvio-desktop-hard-drives/3TB/HDWC130XK3J1

I guess due to changing partition size, the size of the partition has changed and now it s not visible using the 3rd party software.
To be honest, I have no idea of what changes have been made, but without doubt, you will need to create the partitions with NTFS file format once more.

    Sincere greetings

+ The message was edited: part of the message has been deleted.

First of all: I won't help you if you change partition properties.

Is that if the partition has been modified in the past or if the recovery files have been removed, deleted or moved to another source and then recovery of HARD drive option is not available more!

So even if you would try to change the recovery partition now, it will not help because the flag which marks the partition as the partition recovery more isn t valid.

You the last chance to retrieve the laptop to factory settings is the use of the recovery media.
If you n t have this support, you can order the CD here:
