Change the account a local administrator on the domain controllers

Hello

I have a mix of domain controllers Server 2003-2012 of the running server.

I need to rename the local administrator account.

Is there a tool I can use to determine what applications/services using the local administrator account, which is what would be compromised if I renamed the existing local administrator account before as I do?

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I suspect that you posted your question to the wrong thread

This requires only a minor change to the script above actually.

    Something like that

    $groupName = "group"$accountName = "user"$accountPswd = "password"$accountDescription = "A user"

    $esxlist = Get-VMHostforeach($esx in $esxlist){ Connect-VIServer -Server $esx -User root -Password "password"

        Try {      Get-VMHostAccount -Id $groupName -Group -ErrorAction Stop | Out-Null    }    Catch {      New-VMHostAccount -Id $groupName -GroupAccount | Out-Null    }

        $rootFolder = Get-Folder -Name ha-folder-root    Try{        $account = Get-VMHostAccount -Id $accountName -ErrorAction Stop |        Set-VMHostAccount -Password $accountPswd -Description $accountDescription -AssignGroups $groupName    }    Catch{        $account = New-VMHostAccount -Id $accountName -Password $accountPswd -Description $accountDescription -UserAccount -GrantShellAccess -AssignGroups $groupName    }

        $rootFolder = Get-Folder -Name ha-folder-root New-VIPermission -Entity $rootFolder -Principal $account -Role admin

How stop my child to change their account to an administrator account?

There are many ways to promote a regular account at the admin level:

    • By connecting to an existing admin account, using a word password known or is empty.
    • By using some third-party passwords cracker.
    • Using advanced on gaps knowledge.
You must yourself determine what method uses your child.

    Hi MikeChui,

You must have administrative privileges to change the computer from a domain to a workgroup. I suggest you to contact the administrator of the help system.

However, you can also ask your question in the TechNet Windows XP Networking forum

    Hope the helps of information.

  • If all the domain controllers reside in the VMWare environment

I was curious to know if there is someone who can give their opinion about the location of the domain controllers in the VMWare community.  I had 2 DCs before the introduction of VMWare and pulling on servers inside.  I created 2 new controllers domain in VMWare and then retrograde 2 those outside so that only there are only virtual domain controllers.  It seemed to work very well, but I had to turn off equipment running VMWare, and when it started, the storage device that the accessible ESX host has launched a mistake because he could not find a domain controller.

Most people remove all external domain controllers and go with only VMWare virtual DCs, or is it better to always keep an external domain controller upwards and running?  Any advice is welcome.

    Thank you.

I always advise to keep the domain controller hosting your virtual environment PDC emulator FSMO role. Time is critical on most of the servers, but especially on the PDC that is the top of your Windows Time synch infrastructure.

We also keep a ms in each data center on a physical platform, this way if we already have a power down when we turn we can raise the physical DC first and very quickly.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards

  • Can I change my account from an administrator to a standard account?

I have currently my system set up as an administrator account and want to know if I can change it to a standard account, if yes, how do I do this?

    Hello

    Please contact the Microsoft Community.

Want to know how to change the type of user account to an administrator to a standard user. It's pretty simple and I'm here to help you.

I wish that you perform the steps-

    (a) connect you to your administrator account, click on 'Start', type 'User accounts' (without the quotes) and press "Enter."

    (b) now, click on "Change your account type" and then place a "point" next "Standard".

    (c) click on "Apply changes".

Note: Make sure you have at least one additional account on the computer with privileges 'administrator' to prevent problems with user account controls.

    In addition, see the articles-

Change the type of user account

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-a-users-account-type

Why use a standard account instead of an administrator account?

I hope that I have answered your query.

  • How to change the domain name on the host target

    Hello!

I need to spend a couple of machines in a new area.

Is it possible to change the field to a GC host or what I need to remove and add?

    / R

Unfortunately, there is no good way to change the host name.   You can change the display name with EMCLI change the target, but below would be inaccurate, because it would still be the old domain.   Can you create a DNS alias so that it can still be used with the old domain?   Otherwise, delete and rediscover is the only way that I can see.

You can use this to remove and readd without reinstallation:

    emctl config agent addinternaltargets

  • How can I change the domain to a server of comment?

    Acrobat 9 on Windows 7

In addition to editing the registry, how can I change the URL of a comment server which I use for exams?

Earlier, I initiated a shared review but used only the host name of the server, not the fully qualified name (FQN) which includes the full domain name. Now, when I reuse this server for other comments that I initiate, I'm stuck with the unqualified name. People outside of my subnet cannot post comments on the server because the simple host name is not known on their subnet.

How can I change the properties of this server so clients use the FQN?

    Jerry

Yes, you can change the server name in the registry. After change, all the comments that you initiate with this profile will point to the new server location.

  • Change the 'domain' by default in Client mode

    Hey all,.

I know there is a GPO, you can configure for this, but I'm looking for a solution on server side, if there, maybe in the database of ADAM?

Basically I have a network with a root domain and several child domains.  'Domain' in View Client by default for the domain root, usres must choose the field each time.

I can't fix anything client side, for reasons too complicated to explain here.  However, I can solve server-side configurations if I need (like in the Console view, or database of ADAM).

If anyone knows if it is possible to do it on the side server, please let me know.

    Thank you
    Drew

You can filter the areas on a per database connection server.   See this KB for the order to do so, http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1014103.

I need to explain to a user a simple explanation on why this is not an effective solution for filing committed in different places trying to share a single file. The file is an excel document and the original file would be shared at 4 different locations on 4 separate domain controllers. The link is weak across all domains at best and the file is accessible by several people at the same time. Server 2003

  • Logged in as admin. Cannot change the domain users group to the domain administrator

My domain administrator is defined as a domain user and I want to change it to domain administrator. The groups gathered outside the account > users > Admin > groups section.

    Hello Tripline,

Please provide number and firmware version of your ReadyNAS model.

What's your ReadyNAS built-in AD? The ReadyNAS will simply copy the accounts of the ADS in your ad. Existing domain user, 'Administrator' should be adjusted to have administrator rights. I guess you should change everything first, and then integrate the NAS again to the AD.

  • Can I change a profile of local users in a domain profile

I have about 30 users on Windows 7 home don't ask why they are on the House, but that's what I've been throwing in. I upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate. Is there a way I can take the deferred and local profile on the field. I want everything that even they have right on the field?

You could probably save off all their favorites/documents/etc... but... we can ask the question. If you're going to a domain environment, why not help them in their freshness and optimize the way things are done. For example, you could now give them home directories for all of their documents, etc. and this allows a central point of the backup. If configure you a print server and it also gives a point central to printing and printer publishing in the announcement. It will allow you to run a GPO to configure things how the company deems necessary. You can run scripts of connection and redirects to files... the possibilities are endless.

    Just some thoughts...

  • Win2008R2 domain controllers; Restart the domain controllers disconnects the client

    * Original title: DC reboot causes disconnection of the clinets

We have 2 controllers Doamin of Win2008R2. When a domain controller restarts, all the APs on some clients (Telnet, MSTSC ex...) Win7 will cut soon. There is no error/kingdoms fighters on the client event log. WinXP will never suffer.

What can I do? Thank you.

  • Changing the LAN IP address

    Hi guys,.

We're heading subnet IP address to a subnet of complete new IP addresses for our entire local network that our VMWare and SAN resides.  Our VI holds, controller of domain, DNS, DHCP and WINS server, but we have other backup DNS GAGNÉ to another site and domain controllers.

I am familiar with ESX host IP address change setting of this project I learned the hardway. :))

Now with my knowledge limited on the SAN, this project look much more complicated then what I first thought.

If I change the IP address of the SP to SAN, our ESX host loses connectivity to the SAN storage when my understanding is that ESX access to the SAN storage network fabric?

    Or

If I change the IP address of the host, he would lose connectivity to the SAN storage?

Finally, here are the steps that I think doing this project and was hoping if someone could comment on that.

    1. change of address IP SAN to the new IP address uses the DNS server on another site

    2. change IP of ESX host to the new IP address, use the DNS server on another site

    3. fiber change switch IP address

    3. change the IP address of the router

    4. change the domain controller that has the IP address of the DNS server

    5. change the DNS IP SAN server on our DNS server

    6. change the IP address of the ESX host to our DNS server

During steps 1 through 3, I can have the closure of my VM but would it need to be stop?  Our ESX Server is configured so that even if she is not able to ping of the default gateway, VM will not be stopped, but I'm a little worried that ESX will not be able to access to the SAN storage.

Thank you and you are waiting for your comment on that.

If you access it by fiber channel, you don't need to worry - just changind the administration INVESTIGATION period does not affect connections, ESX use Ethernet to connect to it. Only if you are using iSCSI, it would be a problem.
