Change the display of the metadata

It has been written about how to filter on metadata, or creating metadata presets, but I want to change what metadata are displayed on the right panel.  For example, I still want the location field displayed, the legend of the IPTC, Description, camera, Aperture, ISO and speed and I don't want to have to change the selector metadata for these. Most of the metadata fields are not used and I want to suppress the display of those.

Is there a way to do this?

Thank you

Paul

You can use this plugin to build your own metadata Panel types:

http://www.Adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&EXTID=1830027

I have not used, but the author has a very good reputation.

If you are a technique more folded, you can create metadata types by editing the config files - see the section 'Adding the metadata custom types' in the Guide to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom SDK 3.0:

    There is no predefined shortcut, but you can add one yourself.

    • Open system preferences > keyboard, then the tab "shortcuts".

    • Select "App shortcuts" in the left column and click on ' + '.
    • In the 'Application' menu, select 'Photos.app. Then enter the title of "set Date and Time...» "and a combination of keys.

      Pictures now displays the keyboard shortcut that you chose in the picture menu.

  • Cannot change the metadata

    iTunes 12.3.2.35

    MacBook Pro 13 inch Mid 2014 retina

    I recently moved my iTunes library to a new NAS drive.

    I can see all of my music library, however I can not change the metadata all the more lost all my album art and also a few compilation albums are more contained in the same album.

    I tried to find answers on the internet, but have had no luck yet.

    And help greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

    Chris.

    I'll add this to my list 'embarrassing problems that there are good reasons not to use a NAS with iTunes.  There are many other positions with the SIN issues that are all also inexplicable.

    Lose the work suggests to me that you did not move correctly from the library. How did you do?  Moving a library: quick response if you use preferences by default iTunes settings: copy the folder integer iTunes (and to ensure that all of its subfolders and files) intact at the other disk, hold down the option/ALT key to start iTunes and on request to select a library select iTunes Library.itl file in the copied folder.

  • Cannot change the metadata in the grid of the library through several selected Images

    This was bugs me for some time. It started there when I did a CC updated a few versions (about 2015.2, I think). I wrote chalked it up to a bug that they would fix it soon, but it has not been resolved.

    Since I started using Lightroom 2, I used to be able to select several images in the grid view library and then modify the metadata in the Panel to the right and he would write to all. For example, I select 12 photos and set the title information and location. So when I watched each picture they would have the new title & location applied to them.

    After a CC update I lost this ability - metadata only, can I change through selected images is using keywords.

    Because I've lost this ability, I serve the copy metadata (SHIFT-ALT-CMD-C) and paste (SHIFT-ALT-CMD-V) to change the metadata in multiple images, but it's a clunkier and more time-consuming method. I really liked being able to hold down the Command or SHIFT and select several images to change all their metadata quickly.

    Could someone help me? Am I missing some setting or preference?

  • Change the metadata inside Illustrator

    Can someone tell me please how to change the XMP Packet, then within Illustrator, without using FileInfo?   I am writing an Extension of PatchPanel Flex, so need access to certain parameters of DOM like XMPString to change the package.  XMPString does not say it is READ ONLY in the reference manual - but won't let me change - unless I'm doing something wrong.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    For my setup, I have an external program that saves a package xmp (not rdf) to a file. With the help of a script in Illustrator then read this package and add it to the active documents existing xmp using XMPFile and XMPUtils. Updating xmp is then saved to the active document using XMPFile and putXmp.

    You should be able to skip the part of the external xmp file and use the setProperty() directly on a copy of the xmp of active documents, then save this return to the .ai file.

    Here is an example simplified (and functional) because it is easier to explain with the code:

    Load the script of XMP library

    If (xmpLib == undefined) {}

    var xmpLib = new ExternalObject ("lib:... /..") ("Frames / / AdobeXMPScript");

    app.synchronousMode = true;

    }

    Create a XMPString of active documents XMPMeta object:

    var docXmp = new XMPMeta (app.activeDocument.XMPString);

    Make a copy that we can work with:

    var myXmp = docXmp;

    Make our changes:

    myXmp.setProperty (XMPConst.NS_XMP, "CreatorTool", "My Script");

    Add the xmp changed to the original purpose of xmp:

    XMPUtils.appendProperties (myXmp, docXmp, XMPConst.APPEND_REPLACE_OLD_VALUES);

    Create an object of the active document, we can use .fsName (XMPFile seems to be picky):

    var myDocFile = new queue (app.activeDocument.fullName);

    Open the active document for writing:

    var docRef = new XMPFile (myDocFile.fsName, XMPConst.FILE_UNKNOWN, XMPConst.OPEN_FOR_UPDATE);

    Check that we can write the xmp before you write it

    If (docRef.canPutXMP (docXmp)) {docRef.putXMP (docXmp) ;}

    Save the active document (user must re - open the file to see the updated xmp in the file info panel)

    docRef.closeFile (XMPConst.CLOSE_UPDATE_SAFELY);

    So if you have not already you should verify most of what I learned about xmp library came from the following pdf:

    You use Bridge or Adobe Camera RAW?

    If you use another program other than the latest version of LR, LR 3,4 and 5.

    Choose a version of LR and stick to it. Then once you know that you have all of your presets and other custom settings carried over to LR 6, you must uninstall at least versions 3 and 4

    You can select all the images made and click on the exclamation mark (!) in one of them. You must select in the grid view not in the film strip to apply the changes to all of those at once.

  • How to change the capture date in metadata?

    I have some pictures I imported to LR from a disk of digitally scanned slides.  All the metadata to reflect the time the slides have been scanned.

    I can't change the metadata to cover the actual year of capture.  The day and month I would change, but the entrance to the four-digit year will not accept the four numbers, I am trying to enter.

    You use the metadata > command to change the Capture time, with the option to adjust to A precise Date And Time?  Four-digit year you want?

    Hi everyone, when I import images in my project, automatically first change date and time with the current date and time in the finder. So each imported file have changed the time and date when I search in the finder under the "created" or "modified" column, is this normal?. There is no way to avoid this?

    Thanks in advance

    Yes, you can prevent this! Go to the preferences of first and go to the media section. Uncheck "Write XMP IDS to files on import". Boom, done. First will not add his small beacon of metadata files when you import them. This isn't a huge deal for most publishers except Adobe apps could create media Cache files more than necessary if you re - use clips in other projects. Don't forget, however, anything, if you change the metadata (in the project Panel or metadata) file, it'll still change changed data for the clips.

  • Anomaly in the metadata

    First enter metadata in lightroom and I met the field that says 'Creator', and it is completed with the name 'PAUL YOUNG. It's confusing because I'm not Paul. These are photos I took however, camera (Canon 50 d) is flea market: is it all you can set it to camera?

    Someone at - he heard of that happening before? I have to change the metadata on all my photos?

    NB - it is on several pictures.

    I do not have a 50 d, I have a Nikon, but yes, you can change this information in some cameras.

    You must look in the manual of your camera (or find it online) and see how to remove the name, or modify it in your own name.

    In Lightroom, it's easy to fix once... Select all your pictures and then in the creator field, type in your own name.

  • How to change the default title display?

    I have a requirement to add metadata columns to the default title display.

    Mind you, I can create a custom, view but we have a set of users who are not as technically equipped and not be able to add columns to the display.

    Thus, our requirement is to change the global model View search results.

    Please let us know of your entries.

    If your change is global or wide, then you can simply substitute below 2 resource ecm includes and you will be done.

    slim_search_result_table_header_setup: to add new columns head label in global view table

    slim_search_result_item_data_setup: to add values of metadata in the columns newly added

  • Lightroom will not change the status of metadata

    Problem: The status of "Metadata has been changed" continues to display after backup of metadata in the file. Why?

    Well I saved metadata to file several times Lightroom keeps marking them as new changed very quickly.

    Even if I delete the xmp and rewrite.

    And as far as I can see, LR actually write changes, because everything is there when I read the metadata of the file.

    There are thousands (but not all) of the photos.

    I use:

    6.3 LR on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

    The files are all on local disks, in part on the SSD as well as the operating system, in part on a different disk.

    Thank you.

    Using the answers above, I managed to get rid of the warnings issues LR, simply by changing the setting "automatically write changes to metadata on the drive. Once LR wrote all the warnings do not pop up again, also not after unchecking this option again.

  • How the metadata change by Lightroom and another application?

    I often get the message "the metadata for this photo has been changed by Lightroom and another application. Lightroom import settings from disk or replace drive with the catalog settings? "on the images in my catalog. I only use Lightroom to organize, add keywords, basic settings, etc.. On occasions, I take a picture in Photoshop to work more, it is exported in a TIFF or PSD file and the original stays in the catalog LR blank any other thing I could do to the image.

    I have two choices with this message: settings to use Lightroom, OR crush them to disk. The first time it has scared me, as I had no idea where these changes were and why the disk file was something different that lightroom catalog. I have all my metadata stored in XMP files. But I took the chance and said: replace the LR settings and didn't change anything on the sliders or the displayed image. I then tried a little saying 'Keep the LR settings', and again, I didn't see any visible signs of changes. This leads me to believe that they are NOT changed but things LR, they are somehow. But I do not see it, I want it to go away unless there really changes happening outside of LR (as if I went to the bridge or something...)

    Any ideas why this message? I just discovered approximately 100 images in a collection of images, I sent to the Agency in stock three years ago and have not done something with them outside LR since.

    Thanks for any help you can give.

    Users have complained for years about the fake notifications of metadata has changed.  If you are convinced that you do not change the file itself outside LR, then choosing settings Overwrite will rewrite the metadata in the file with the metadata for catalogue and (usually) to make the fake notification disappear.

    Unfortunately, LR does not tell you the metadata fields have been changed, so that users are left flying blind.  In my opinion, Rob Cole had a plugin that will tell you the metadata for the differences between the catalog and the disk file, but its Web site has been down for a couple of weeks now.

    ManiacJoe: My guess is that Photoshop updates some fields of EXIF data in the raw, for example the "edited with the software" file field. Given that Lightroom has probably already established in this field, it gives you a warning that something has changed.

    Interesting hypothesis.  I just tested with LR 5.7.1, Photoshop CC 2014, OS X 10.10 and could not reproduce the problem.  I have exported a TIFF file to a raw file that is catalogued in the same folder as the raw, TIFF edition and changed some of its metadata in Photoshop, and saved.  LR didn't report a notification of change-a metadata.

    In general, I'd be surprised if you changed x.tif in PS, it would change all the metadata in x.cr2 or x.xmp (moderately).

  • How do I change the email body is displayed to the right of the email list (which I prefer) of the body of the email is displayed under e-mail list?

    I installed the latest version of Thunderbird on my two laptops. The first installation on my new laptop (Windows 10) the default is that the body of the email was posted in the right column. I prefer this view. My second installation was on my old laptop (Windows 7) and that the default display has the body of the email below the list of emails. I've searched for nearly two hours in the help section and cannot find how to change that display in the body of the email in the right column with the e-mail list that is left with him. Sometimes it comes to options that are not available. I don't know why the same download would display different default settings. I know it must be something simple, but I'm frustrated trying to find. Can someone help me with this? Thank you.
