Change the DNS server, but consider e-mail to Office 365

I now have a customer who wants his site softdanmark.dk moved and accommodated with catalyst for business as the new design I've done for the company by muse and previewed as: softdanmark.businesscatalyst.com.

I've already added the domain name to Business Catalyst and gave him the dns data, but he still wants the email (MX) belong to the TDC, where he has his Office 365.

Is it possible to only move the DNS server and keep the MX record at the old company?

Hope you can answer my question.

Hey there,

You do not change the NS records, all you need to do is point the web traffic, so yes, have your screenshot you just need to change the record and when you set up the site in British Colombia you say outside.

Registration information are:

Use "service network restart" command to restart the network service

Very dependent on DNS HA, HA will not work without the correct DNS configuration. The servers ESX and vCenter server must be able to resolve the name (FQDN full) / IPs in both feel to get a working HA.

  • Change the DNS settings in the Pool of IP network

    Hello

Due to a migration of our DNS servers, I have to change the IP addresses of the DNS servers defined in the (currently used) our BDE server IP pools. There is a Hadoop cluster with a large amount of data running using this pool and I do not have to deploy the cluster again. Restart of the cluster is not matter, so I planned the settings DNS for the cluster nodes have to change after reboot. Unlikely, I could not change the DNS settings. Is there a way (perhaps non-elegant) change those settings for the pool?

    See you soon,.

    Dustin

    Hi Dustin,

BDE provides the interface to change the DNS server in the network added to the BDE.  You must change the BDE database to do.  Here is the solution:

1 Server BDE connect you as user serengeti

    2. run this command: echo ' network dns1 set update = 'the_new_dns_server_ip' where name = 'the_network_name '; \q" | psql

    3. apply the new DNS server. There are two approach. You can choose one.

    (a) connection BDE CLI and run "cluster stop - name...". ' and 'start cluster - name... '. "to restart the virtual machines in the cluster, then the new DNS server will be applied.

    (b) on BDE server, run "serengeti - ssh.sh cluster_name " sudo sed-i of | nameserver. * | nameserver the_new_dns_server_ip| ' g' / etc/etc/resolv.CONF. The new DNS server should take effect immediately.

    Thank you for using BDE.

  • Static IP address of WiFi requires the DNS server

I was able to confirm this on two separate MacBook Pro (various models) the two Yosemite running 10.11.4.

After assigning a static IP address to the wireless network interface, the MacBook ping to a address beyond the gateway by default unless there is also a DNS server on the wireless interface. I wouldn't need a public IP address ping DNS server.

    For example:

    This method works.

    But it does not work:

At least I have change the DNS like this:

    Then it starts working again.

I tried to initiate a capture of packets and the MacBook is not even send ping on the wireless interface requests unless there is a static DNS server assigned.

Can anyone other confirm/deny this behavior for me?

    Thank you

    Rob

What exactly are you trying to do?

You try to assign a Mac with a LAN IP address? If so, do it in the router by selecting an IP address on the local network to use with the Mac Machine (MAC address). This assumes that your router is your DHCP server. Otherwise, you need a DNS server that is running on your local network to be able to distribute IP of DHCP addresses.

  • How to manually change the DNS zone files?

I'm running OS X version 10.11.2 (El Capitan) and using App Server version 5.0.15 on a Mac Mini.

I need to change the DNS Zone files manually because the DNS Server App Manager does not provide a U / I in order to add some elements (such as adding a delegation, etc.).  I use TextWrangler (5.0.2) as editor-in-Chief.

I found an old post on how to do this here, but the information listed it seems obsolete.

I was able to find the zone files to:

    / Library/server/name

    as:

    CBI .

When I try to save or overwrite the db. files, or try to save all the files in that directory, I get an error indicating that:

"Save the authenticated for this file failed (error application code: 20004).

Since a window Terminal, if I go to that directory and type:

    Echo hello > temp.txt

    I get:

    Permission denied

I am logged in using an administrator account.

Before editing the db. files, I turned off the DNS in the App Server, then exit the server application server.

What should I do to manually update the db. files?

These files are protected from root.  You need to elevate your permissions to be able to change them.

Probably you use a text editor like vi, nano or pico command line.  sudo vi/path/to/file for example.

Back up the files first to protect against error.  In addition, be aware that Apple can run on some of your changes if you change the.app areas.

    Hello

It is the second system I've seen in the last two weeks with this question, I reloaded the OS on the first.  The system is Windows Vista Ultimate x 64.

That is the problem.  Open Internet Explorer 9 on a Windows 7 PC, you get the message:

Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage

Click on diagnose connection problems, you get the following:

The DNS server is not responding

Look at a detailed information your told to contact your network administrator (this is me - no other XP or Windows 7 PC on the network has a connection problem).

    Below that is the message:

Your computer is trying to use a DNS server that is incorrect or does not exist.

Note that this is a laptop that has started on another network with the same problem.  I took it to my office to solve problems.  My DNS server is a WIndows SBS 2003 server.

Below that is a log file of etl you cannot open (Notepad considers undesirable, much of the use that is).

  • The DNS server does not - wired - wireless is OK

    Hi all

This problem has left speechless several other computer scientists, I thought I'd try this forum before making a complete reinstallation.  Here's a challenge to test your intelligence.

    Here's the situation:

Dell laptop (11 months - still under warranty) with Wi - Fi and ability.  Originally supplied with Vista, but I installed Win7 in November.  I tried to do the clean installation method, but do not know if I managed to 'clean' approach because I thought that my data may be wiped.  He was not, he is still on the machine.  But W7 seems to work very well, I added Slowey some software.  I think I was able to communicate with a wired connection before on the machine, but now I can't be sure.  The machine communicates wireless without problem.  IE8 opens fine.  If I connect the wire and cut the antenna or boot to the wire with antenna, the machine starts and works well, but does not connect using IE8.  I get a message "the DNS server is not responding.

The machine can ping and ping just fine on the wire.  A chat session with Dell yesterday (Citrix I think) succeeded in transferring to wire wireless when I turned off the antenna.  In addition, the MS patch notification came through this morning, but I can't download the patches on the wire.

Here is what has been tried so far:

    1. Changed cables and ports in the router to check the status of these question: these are OK.
    2. PC directly connected to the router: same problem.
    3. Verified services running (Control Panel-Admin tools-Online Services online):
System event COM + (for WZC issues)
      Computer browser
      DHCP client
      DNS client
      Network connections
      Network location awareness
      Remote procedure call (RPC)
      Server
      TCP/IP Netbios support
Automatic configuration wireless (only XP wireless configurations)
Autoconfiguration WLAN (wireless Vista only configurations) service
      Workstation
    4. Verified IPv4 is defined in order to obtain the IP address automatically.
    5. Reset IE8.  No change.
    6. Turned off the Windows Firewall.
    7. Tried to access internet using Chrome.  No go.
    8. Wired NETWORK card uninstalled and reinstalled driver.  Downloaded last at Dell, they pushed also later.  No luck.
    9. Tried the Google Open DNS.  No difference.
    10. ipconfig/flushdns
    11. TCP/IP stack repair (run as Administrator: start, all Programs\Accessories and right click on command prompt, select "run as administrator" to open a command prompt.)
-Entries reset WINSOCK to default installation: netsh winsock reset catalog
-Reset the battery TCP/IP IPv4 default installation. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
-Reset the battery TCP/IP IPv6 default installation. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
    12. While in Safe Mode, disconnected wire: uninstalled the driver for the CARD.  Started full W7: installed the latest driver.
    13. In Safe Mode, the stack TCP/IP repair as described above.

All to nothing does not.  IE does not connect to the internet.  Chrome is not connecting to the internet.

You people have any ideas what the devil is wrong with this machine?  Can you offer any suggestions to try to get access wired for the functioning of the internet?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Stringout,

I said to reset the router because the router is the DNS server and assigns the IP address to all devices on the network. Now, since you get the error "DNS server is not responding. It may possible that this router is not able to assign the correct ip address to all computers.

You can also try to update the router with the latest firmware. Still, Microsoft!

  • Unable to connect with the DNS server

Recently, I went away for the weekend and came back to find that I had no internet, on all devices... So I don't know exactly how long he was out. I'm a computer and a network engineering student and I've tried everything I can think of to make it work again. Here's what I did:

First off troubleshooting generates an error message: "failed to connect to the DNS server.

Of course, I did reboot of the habit of my router and my devices.

I can't connect to WiFi or direct connection via Ethernet. I tried flushing DNS via the command-line ("ipconfig/flushdns") as well as the command "netsh int ip reset", "ipconfig/release" and "ipconfig / renew." I tried to go into the settings of the network adapter and the two affecting the IPv4 and IPv6 DNS google DNS settings. I even traded my router for a new with my ISP (of Roger (Canada)). I have connected to my router through my web browser and tried to change some of the DNS settings there (everything went well). Nothing worked so I have everything set to default. I tried ping around my own network, I ping my own card NETWORK, but also the entry door, so I know that's not my PC, I have also excluded because all my devices do not work. I spoke with Rogers (my ISP) twice now and they were no help at all, they were more concerned by the flashing lights on the router as the real problem. I'll have a technician to the course to watch tomorrow, but I doubt they'll be any help at all. I wouldn't say I'm a computer genius, but I have a pretty good understanding of how things work and I can not understand what the problem is here, I can have forgotten something or forgot to mention something I tried. But if anyone has any ideas, or similar cases they decided that I would be VERY grateful for the help.

  • How can I keep a connectivity when the DNS server is not available?

We have remote locations with several computers that are joined to our domain via a gateway to gateway VPN. When VPN breaks down, they lose the connection to our CD/DNS server. Their ip addresses remain the same, since they are managed by their local router but they failed to connect to other devices to their location even though the devices have static IP addresses. If I understand the use of the LMhosts file must allow me to allow them to keep local communications between computers. I think the entry in LMHOSTS should be like this for each local machine they need to access.
