change the location of the log archive

Hello

DB is 9.2.0.7
Operating system is HP - UX 11.23

Log_archive_dest = archivelogs/backup /.

This site is located on a single hard drive.

When this disc goes down, database stops. Need to change the location to another drive online.

I have a procedure to follow

SQL > change the start of the archive log system of ' < nouvel_emplacement >;

Once the disc problem is resolved.

back from the old location.

-----
what you guys think... any other procedure

Note: I'm just asking questions about my practical purpose. in practice, we will put the location of the newspaper archive in the mirrored partition or archive 2 destinations.

oradba2,

You're still using log_archive_dest. You are running Enterprise or Standard?
When you run Enterprise, you must use log_archive_dest_1, log_archive_dest_2 etc.

And you must archive log start!
Just alter system set log_archive_dest (_) will do the trick.

    following steps should be ok
    (1) create pfile from spfile;
    (2) remove the unnecessary params
    (3) configure log_archive_dest_1
    Note: do not remove the db_recovery_file_dest, db_recovery_file_dest_size, and parameters. they may be required at another time
    (4) stop and start your database using this new pfile
    (5) check if the archives are in one place
    (6) create spfile and bounce database to ensure that it uses spfile

    Please try all the steps test env first and go ahead in the event of success, to production

  • How can I change the logging settings in Vista Home Premium?

    I was in the management of the computer and discovered a few troubling record, such as how he was following my use of the office. Worse, I couldn't find no way to enable or disable the newspapers, as the procedures I used XP Pro and 2K 3 server did not work.

    How can I disable logging of my use of Microsoft office, so that change the other settings for logging in Event Viewer? I had a class on the audit for XP & Server and I had to sometimes see newspapers located in a business environment (never had to do anything with Vista or 7 well) so I have a good idea of what to leave past generations of operating systems. How do I change however logging in Vista Home Premium? I can't access "local security policy" in my version of Vista.

    SlickRCBD salvation,

    There is no way to disable the use of Microsoft office in the event viewer.

    However if you want you can completely turn off event viewer of logging of all events performed on the computer by disabling the service on the computer Windows event log.

    (a) click on the start menu, type services.msc in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) click on services in the list now locate the Windows event log service

    (c) right-click on the service and click on disable

  • If it is Possible to change the log for Exchange 2010 running on Esxi 5 drive

    Dear Experts,

    We are running exchange 2010 on Esxi 5, this Exchange 2010 has recently been installed and all the mailboxes have been transferred from exchange 2003 which was a physical server. At the time of migration in exchange 2010 we created newspapers drive 100 GB since big newspapers vmdk is generated when you migrate the mailboxes. As now migration is performed a few months back and now I observed for 2/3 weeks, the behavior of the reader of newspapers for a week only 5 GB is consumed in disk vmdk of newspapers, and that is also supplemented with a backup complete weekly to Exchange.

    I intend to ask, is that I think have newspaper vmdk 30GB instead of 100 GB, so the current of 100 GB of log reader, I can't reduce, but yes, I can create vdisk another to swap, but need advice if anyone has a similar experience to change the disk vmdk of newspapers for the Exchange? With this approach, I try to save 70 GB of storage space.

    I hope my question is clear.

    Waiting for your answers with the thoughts.

    Thank you

    Yes, you must stop the Exchange Services. But Exchange 2010 has a nice Wizard to do this, who can stop the database services, newspapers move automatically and back up the database.

    It is located under the Organization-> mailbox

    Leave the database, but only to change the path of the log file.

    These archives are saved? The command above does not update the RMAN Repository if in case, the archives have been manually delete at the OS level.
    I recommend you save these records and then remove them.

    RMAN>backup archivelog all not backedup 1 times delete input;

    If these archives are already saved and were not deleted from the disk, then you can use the below command

    RMAN>delete force noprompt archivelog all completed before 'SYSDATE-n';

    where "n" is the number of days of delay on the current date. Be sure to check if these archives have been saved before deleting.

  • How to change the log on the picture of the screen.

    I am running windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS. I would like to know how to do the ctrl alt delete button display an image instead of being blank. What are the steps to get there. __

    I would like to know how to display an image in the ctrl alt del login screen button.  Currently, it is empty and I would like to display an image.  What are the steps?

    Hello

    If you're talking about the background on the classic logon screen when you press Ctrl + alt + delete, run regedit and goto HKEY_USERS\. Default\Control Panel\Desktop and create a string value with the name of "Wallpaper" and set its value to your desired background image (bmp).

    But I hope you enjoy this option more if you want the user to enter the same user name and password for security reasons using the default logon to screen which you can customize the background. To change the background to default logon screen in windows 7 download a free http://www.thoosje.com/windows-7-logon-screen-editor.html utility and change the background that you want.

    to allow the user to enter the same user name when connecting, run regedit and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem\\\
    and on the side right do right-click dontdisplaylastusername , and click on modify and change its value to 1. Close and restart your computer to see the effects.

    to allow the user to press ctrl + alt + delete to this new logon screen click windows key + r and type netplwiz and press ENTER. On the tab tick advances 'require the user to press Ctrl + Alt + Del'. and apply. Hope that you find the best results.

  • HELP ME PLEASE CHANGE THE LOG ON / LOG SETTINGS ON HP/WINDOWS 7

    Hello Mbaraket,

    Can you be more clear on what you try to change the behaviour of?

    Based on what you say, I think you are talking about the screen saver coming and locking your computer or power settings you have enabled to put the computer to sleep after a certain amount of time...

    Here's how to change the two...

    Adjust your power settings:

    ->-> Power Options control panel Edit power plans

    Set your screensaver:

    Panel-> personalization-> screen saver.

    Then uncheck the "on resume display logon screen" or extend the timeout.

  • Size of the log file Archive

    Redlogfile size is 16 MB and generating the archivelog file size is approximately 10 Mb. what could be the reason?

    Oracle Version: 10.2.0.4

    OS: Windows

    Published by: Deccan charger 19 April 2010 23:31

    First of all:

    a redo log contains a lot of things necessary for instance etc. recovery an archived log is used only for the restorations - he didn't need all the stuff that is in a redo log, so when written CRA the archiving log that he does not write all knowledge, all that is required for restores

    Second:

    Archive logs is created with dimensions smaller, irregular, as the original redo logs. Why? [388627.1 ID]

    Goal
    Archive logs is created with dimensions smaller, irregular, as the original redo logs.
    Commands like:
    ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE
    or
    ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG...
    are not used to generate archives or change the log file. Thus, there is no parameter ARCHIVE_LAG_TARGET set.
    What else could cause this behaviour?
    Solution
    From:
    Bug: 5450861: NEWSPAPERS ARCHIVE IS GENERATED with one SIZE SMALLER THAN THE REDO LOG FILES
    the explanation of this situation has 2 main reasons:
    1 archiving logs do not have to be in the same size. This was decided very long ago, when blank padding archiving logs stopped for a very good reason - in order to save disk space.

    2. the log command does not exist when a redo log file is 100% full. There is an internal algorithm that determines when to switch journal. It also has a very good reason - do the command of newspaper at the last moment may incur performance problems (for various reasons, outside the scope of this note).
    So, after that newspaper ordering occurs the archivers are only copying the information from the redo log files. As recovery logs are not 100% full after the command to log and archive logs are empty not filled after the copy operation is complete, this results in unequal files smaller than the original of redo log files.
    This is very apparent for very low (less than 10 MB) log files; as a result, produced 2.5 MB archive logs of 5 MB recovery logs are very visible.
    Just note that currently, the default log files are 100 MB in size. If the archives log files would be between 98 and 100 MB person would notice.
    The main concern that one must have for newspapers of archives files is a possible corruption. This can be easily verified by attempting a resumption of testing. When it's ok, the size of the log archive uneven should be of no interest, as is expected.

  • Can make the size of the log buffer be changed or is managed internally by oracle

    Can again change the log buffer size? or is managed internally by oracle in the SGA? We are on oracle 10.2.0.3.

    The reason why I asked the question was that our construction team do estimates for data/memory sizing properly... so we wanted to know if it can be changed or not?

    Hi S2k!

    The SGA Memorystructure is handled automatically by Oracle, if the SGA_TARGET initializationparameter is set. But nothing less you are able to configure the size of a memorystructure by yourself. Here is a good article on the optimization of the log buffer.
