laptop mouse operation

The mouse of my laptop shuts off when I'm in the middle of a document entry, is this normal?

Hello

Yes, it's normal.  The mouse pointer does not display as you type, however if you put a finger on the touchpad it should reappear.  You can change this if necessary.

Kind regards

  • How can I activate the scroll function on my laptop mouse pad?

    Hello

My laptop mouse pad is no longer scroll in FireFox or MS Word (or any other program I've tried) since switching from Vista to Windows 7. In the Windows Help section, it suggests that there should be a tab "Scrolling" in the mouse properties window, however, when I opened the window just 4 tabs are "Buttons," "Pointers," "Pointer Options" and "hardware". How can I switch on / activate the scrolling feature?

When using my laptop mouse pad, the desktop icons is is expanded.  I want to make it even smaller, but the options of the control panel do not work to do this.  How to smaller again, and why are they larger when I touched the mouse pad?

On a desktop PC, hold down the CTRL key and turning the mouse wheel will make the icons larger or smaller. Maybe you did the cell phone equivalent to that. Maybe even a sticky control key.

    Alhajji,
They suggested to do a factory restore, if a valid step to do.  I know this isn't the most fun thing to do, but if you restore the system failing factory (clean install of the operating system).  Then, run Windows update and update drivers.  At this point, you can install a game and test.  If the problem persists, it would look to be a possible hardware problem with the system.

  • turn on laptop mouse Touchpad

I just had to have my hard drive replaced on my Dell laptop and now my touch pad mouse doesn't seem to work, and he seems to think that its an external mouse, I can't change the settings as its game to a mouse that you plug in (even if it is not a trendy). I don't want to the touchpad on the laptop works fine with all parameters also works to customize. Can someone help and understand what I mean?

    Hello

Check with support of the manufacturer system, documentation online or forums that there is probably
Shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.

Dell - disable or enable the touchpad by using the access key

Parameters for TouchPad located in the control panel - mouse (there may be several tabs with TouchPad entered)
and some come with a utility that loads in the Notification area next to the clock in the bottom right.

    ==========================================

If necessary: (make sure that you have restarted at least once, if the above did not work)

Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touchpad - the driver tab-
Click on update driver (it comes may not do anything like MS is far behind the drivers of certification), now right CLICK
    on the TouchPad and UNINSTALL.

Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in). RESET

This will refresh the driver for the TouchPad and battery USB. This does not prevent the touchpad from working.

The similar procedure on XP, Windows 7 and Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific device if present.

Then go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest touchpad drivers.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN.

  • How to unlock a keyboard on a computer windows vista laptop. mouse /trackpad are ok?

How to unlock a keyboard on a computer windows vista laptop.  mouse /trackpad are ok?

Don't know how you locked up - sounds like a hardware thing.

If you plug in a USB keyboard - it work?

  • Cannot install on laptop mouse

I have a compaq laptop and can not install the external mouse via USB. but it will not install tried to launch the windows vista problem solver but he installed two drivers but still does not work

Are you sure that the mouse is compatible with Vista http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-vista/default.aspx?

Try using the mouse on another computer and see if it works.  Try using a different USB mouse on this computer and see if it works.  In this way, we can significantly reduce the problem.

What version of Vista are you using?  What is the brand and model of the computer and the manufacturer, the brand and model of the mouse?  Are you sure you are using the correct driver for the mouse and your version of Vista?  The mouse should firmware and/or software extra and you have them installed if necessary?

Did you use a USB mouse on the system before or have you used only the touchpad?  If you have used one before, doing a job?

Go to start / Control Panel / mouse and check the settings to make sure that the mouse is enabled and recognized.  Go to start / Control Panel / Device Manager and double click on the mouse driver to see if it works properly.

I hope this helps. Keep me in the loop.

    Good luck!

  • Laptop mouse problems

My laptop seems to have mouse problems lately.  It is to select things too fast for me.  It highlights all, or choose something just because I'm pointing at it, even if I click on the object.  Is there a way to fix this?  I looked threw the help, and I've been able to find how to change the appearance of my mouse.  Where should I look to fix the sensitivity that my mouse seems to have?

The controls are generally in the start menu / Control Panel / mouse.  If the options you want are not listed here, they are not available on the system.  You can try to check with the manufacturer of the mouse or the computer manufacturer (if the mouse came with it) for updated device drivers firmware or software and install it.  Restart and test the mouse in Control Panel.  You can now have new options that were not there before.

    I hope this helps.

  • I've upgraded to Windows 7 and now my laptop mouse scroll button will not work.

I have upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on my Fujitsu Lifebook laptop.

The mouse that is built into my computer is a tablet with a typical right button and left button - and between these 2 buttons are 2 small buttons that can scroll and down the documents and Web sites. Well, since I have upgraded from Vista to 7, this button did not work. Not on Web pages, not on Word documents, not on anything!

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thank you!

Check on the Fujitsu website to see if they have a Windows 7 driver
for your touchpad. If they download and install it. If they are not,
    you're out of luck.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate on laptop mouse frozen

I just installed (yesterday Wednesday 24 Feb) Windows 7 Ulimate

Now the mouse has frozen in the middle of the screen, I can't move at all

I have to use the power button to turn it off, but its not happy my l ' as that, but even when I stop, the mouse still does not move

It worked fine with XP and Vista, then I upgraded to Windows 7 Home premium (trial version)

So I got Windows 7 Ultimate, installed, no problem, got all of the updates (I think)

I've not yet installed all the programs again, outside of Office 2007

My laptop is a DELL inspiron 1720 dual core 2 GB ram and HD 320

    Can anyone help/advise please

Maybe its something that is common on laptops with Windows 7

    I don't think so... I have a laptop with Windows 7 ;)

Perhaps rather... DELL laptops, because it seems that this problem is mainly related to them.

You can also try to get in touch with the Support technique Dell . Maybe they have already found a solution if the problem is related to their laptops.

  • How to disable HP laptop mouse pad in Windows 8?

Original title: Windows 8 mouse pads

Windows 8 don't let me stop the mousepad on my laptop HP G Series as done in windows 7.  It's a pain, I use an optical mouse... I keep hitting the pavement by accident.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for choosing Windows 8 and welcome to the Community Forums of Microsoft.

I see that you want to disable the mouse pad.

Let us work together to solve this problem.

We wish to inform you that Windows has never had any device which allowed to turn off the mouse pad. This feature is sometimes provided by the manufacturers of mouse pad.

Most laptops have an external switch or button, which when activated, disable the mouse pad. You can try if it works.

You can also toggle the control panel mouse pad.

Follow the steps below to do so:

    a. press the Windows key + X, and then select Control Panel.

    b. Select the mouse properties.

    c. right-click on the mouse to turn on/off pad.

The mouse pad can also be disabled via Device Manager.

    a. press the Windows key + X, and then select Device Manager.

    b. expand mice and other pointing devices.

    c. right-click and disable the Scripture that says mouse mat or even.

For additional assistance, please contact HP Support teams.

If you have any questions on Windows, please write to us at any time.

We are happy to help you.

  • pavillion g6 laptop mouse pad

    Hello

My son has had a brand new, one for Christmas and all was going well until he started today and the mouse pad is totally insensitive. Can anyone help?

    @lisabling,

    Try the following.

Shut down the laptop. Tap here to f8 start you toward the top access to the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode with network" and press ENTER.  Let windows fully load in this mode and see if the Touchpad works in this mode.

If this is the case, download the latest installer Synaptics driver on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp54001-54500/sp54040.exe

Then, open windows control panel, open programs and features, right click on the entry "Synaptics Pointing Device Driver" and choose uninstall.

Once done, restart the computer and Windows restarts normally - check the Touchpad still works.

If this is the case, open your downloads folder, right-click on the setup of Synaptics and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once done, restart the laptop.

    Kind regards

  • Pavilion laptop: Mouse pad problem

I want that my mouse to move while I type. Because I'm playing somegames that force me to move my mouse and using the WASD keys. How can I change?

    Hello

You can change this as follows.

Open windows control panel and on the top right, next to the display by: select "large icons".  In the new page layout, select the entry of Synaptics.

The hardware/software version will depend on real option that you're looking for (see the example below), but it is usually called 'check' Palm or Smart Sense'-disable this function and apply the changes.
