Change the product key with a Windows 8.1 apdate

I WANT 4 - 1130us I've had for about 1 year and it came with pre-installed Windows 8.  I've since updated to Windows 8. 1.

On the screen: System control panel - system and safety - is a link to "Get more features with a new edition of Windows".  When I select it it then requires a product key.  Belerac using the product key appears as being for Windows 8.1 (x 64).  I enter the product key, but it is rejected as invalid.

I'm doing something wrong?

The product key there with the update in 8.1?  If so, how di I find my key windows 8.1?

Thank you

Hello

The product key is will not change when you updated to Windows 8.1, but it is used to activate the system operation cannot be used to buy additional upgrades such as Windows Media Center etc - this requires you to first purchase the upgrade key appropriate for the additional component, you need.

See the Microsoft link below for more details.

  • How can I change the product key Windows 7 starter edition

    Hi all

I tried to change the product key on my netbook, because I had to replace the hard drive and I used my recovery disks of the brothers that he has the same exact model. However when I had done restoring the product key is also the same so I wanted to put the original back on.

I used slui methods both properties before, but neither give me a way to change the product key at the moment. When I go to properties it says only: windows is activated without any options to change of key and when I run slui a window appears which says activation succeeded.

Am I missing something? or is it because its Windows 7 starter?

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance

    Click Start, type: CMD

    Right-click on CMD

    Click on run as administrator

At the command prompt, type the following commands:

  • Change the product key for Windows 7 Code

I bought a package of Windows 7 from a supplier without realizing it was a distribution of subscription "not for sale". It is now installed on my computer after a painful migration from a dying hard drive which had Windows Vista installed. The old drive is now corrupt and not repairable.

When I tried to record the installation, I found that he was blocked. I have to make sure that it is for the reason above somehow. How to check this?

It seems I have to buy another Package of Windows 7 but I don't want to do a fresh install since I went to great effort to set up the installation on a new SSD and have all of my applications transferred intact.

Is it possible to just change the product key of the new package to apply to my existing install without having to reinstall everything?

Just for the completion of this thread, I decided to pass my final action to get my computer system operating system up-to-date.

Assuming it was a MSDN product licensed, it was repackaged in a retail store packaging and sold as such.

Needing my computer back to the status of full support, I bought a 64-bit edition (non - OEM) of Windows 10 full retail on USB media. Is it installed just fine on top of the MSDN license of Windows 7 and allowed me to install without erasing the contents of the disc. My applications and drivers are intact. Windows 10 also all updates installed correctly.

This allowed me to remedy the situation without having to re - install everything that would have been very time consuming.

    Thank you for your help.

  • change the product key on windows 7 ultimate 64-bit full

Let's make has a history very very short.  Earlier this year, I bought 4 copies of Windows 7 Ultimate full 64-bit for internet and loaded mrechant on 4 machines (3 upgrades from Vista and 1 new installation) without a hitch.  The software was perfect for a few months until recently Microsoft me notified that the software was not "authentic".  Apparently this software was not allowed to sell in the USA.

In any case, if I buy a new genuine Windows 7 Ultimate Full 64-bit version, can't I just change the product key to solve this problem?  I know I need to ultimately get 4 copies.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Change the product key to use COA OEM during the product upgrade

I found the kkid106 question "can I use a product key Windows 7 OEM to a retail facility.

But as it is not my particular case, I want to be sure and make the issue.

The question is on a clean install of Windows 7 Home Retail using Windows 7 OEM Home.  My case is not a clean install.

I have the following two scenarios:

Scenario 1. A computer with Windows XP Pro OEM who got the original damage.  I have an Image backup which I bring to a Destination with Windows 8 OEM computer.  I get a retail upgrade of Windows 8.  I restore the Image to the destination computer, and then upgrade old XP Pro OEM with retail upgrade to Windows 8.  Technically I find myself with a computer without a license since the upgrade come from an OEM from another computer.  Now, I change the product key by using the Destination COA OEM computer to make a licensed computer.

This scenario is correct.  Can I validate the license online or by phone?

Scenario 2. A computer with Windows XP Pro OEM who got the original damage.  I have an Image backup which I bring to a Destination with Windows 8 OEM computer.  I have an Upgrade download Windows 8 without product key.  I restore the Image to the destination computer, and then upgrade old XP Pro OEM upgrade download to Windows 8.  I find myself with a computer without a license, because the upgrade is unlicensed and comes from an OEM from another computer.  Now, I change the product key by using the Destination COA OEM computer to make a licensed computer.

This scenario is correct.  Can I validate the license online or by phone?

  • I need to change the product key

We work with images here and we have a lot of machines that are identical.  We have activated Windows on the original image and did all the updates before creating the image.  Now, when we use this same image, it is still saved and activated with the initial machine where the image has been created, but the key to use is different because it is another computer with a new Microsoft Windows XP sticker (certificate).  I used the "KeyUpdateTool_enu" downloaded directly from Microsoft and after you enter the new key, it says that it cannot update the key.

I tried the msoobe /a registry proposed on the site of Micrsoft hack and it says that Windows is already registered.

So what I want to do is to just change the product with a new key.  The key corresponds to the version of Windows, so this isn't the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

Its slow but it works as long as you don't have too many computers:

  • Change the product key

    Hello
The situation is like this: I have 10 Acer laptops with linux installed on them and 10 Windows XP home sp3.
I have instaled on laptop and after that I created an image of the hard drive and installed on a computer to second and third.
The problem is that all 3 computers have the same product keys. I want to change the product key.
Before I created the image I activated the license and I tried to change, with a few small programs, the product, but keys with no luck. Is there a way to do this without having to reinstall the operating system?
    Thanks in advance.

Given that you have a valid Windows XP key license and product for each computer, try this:

    1. run the registry editor and change at least one digit of the value of this key:

    HLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT / CurrentVersion / WPAEvents / OOBETimer

    2. click on start > run and enter this command:

    %systemroot%\System32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a

    3. Select Yes, I want a phone rep > next > change product key.

4 type the new product key, and then click Update.

    5. turn on.

WARNING: Incorrectly editing the registry can damage your system and prevent Windows to start. Before you do, back up your important data, make a restore point and make sure that you know how to repair a damaged system.

  • How to change the product key because it uses the product key previous I have used before

    Original title: Windows Anytime Upgrade

I used an upgrade product key to Windows 7 Ultimate edition. However I had problems with it so I want to use another, but whenever I click on it, he's trying to update with the previous key. Is it possible to "get rid of" the existing key out there so I'm able to use my new?

    Hello eemiaturner,

I usually don't link to the non-microsoft pages, but I couldn't find a 'How To' with screenshots.  The following URL shows how get you to the section change the product within Windows 7 key.

    http://www.sizzledcore.com/2009/10/26/how-to-change-Windows-7-product-key/

You can also try the command line to change the product key:

    1. Click the Start button, and then type: CMD (in the field "search programs and files" in the Start Menu)
    2. The Start Menu displays "CMD.exe."
    3. Right click on the file CMD.exe and select run as administrator.
    4. In the CMD window, type: slmgr.vbs - ipk
    5. To activate windows after changing the key, type: slmgr.vbs - ato

    I hope this helps.
