  My Roxio VHS TO DVD movie editing program has worked on my laptop Toshiba Windows 7 system before I reformatted.  Now when I open Roxio it changes the screen resolution of 256 colors at a very low resolution b and the program will not work.  When I close the program Roxio the resolution of the screen reverts back to 256 colors.  Control of program compatibility tells that it's incompatible, but the program worked on my system before I reformatted.

  The screen resolution is a Windows 8 setting you need to change. I found this walk through (with screenshots) that should help you.

  I googled a little and found this:

  The procedure is a little but delicate.
  You must change the registry.

  -Beginning of registry (Regedit.exe)
  -go to
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-Software-Microsoft-Windows-CurrentVersion------authentication------LogonUI------background

  -Create a new DWORD value named OEMBackground
  -Double-click OEMBackground and set its value data to 1
  -Access register

  This allows you to include the screen background image (jpg)

  In C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\backgrounds, you could include the jpg file.
  The file should be named backgroundDefault.jpg + +.

  Note: info and background folders don't exist by default. You must manually create these records. In addition, the images must be less than 256 KB!
