• Table of contents page numbering problem

  I do turn a problem in which the Table of contents, newly created or updated to date, is not its own pages, causing all the page numbers next to be turned off by the number of pages in the table of contents itself.

  What I am doing wrong?

  I never heard of something like that happening.

  The only thing I can think of is with Smart Text Reflow option preferences?

• Page numbering problem

  So, I'm having a problem getting my pages are displayed correctly. This should show the page 9 and 10, not 1.9 and 1.10. I can't figure out how to remove the 1.

  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

• Non-consecutive page numbering problem

  I use Adobe In Design CS4 for the first time and have a problem with a separate paging. I've set up a master page which is the same for all chapters and the first four chapters number pages correctly and consecutively; the following starts on page 18, instead of the consecutive 61 and then begins the numbering again 56 but he continues. So, is it possible to number easily all the pages of all documents in 'book' consecutively and in one command?

  Or is it possible to copy the master pages that appear to work documents that are not correctly numbering? I can't seem to find a simple solution for this, but I bet there's a.

  Have you used the Panel book for updating the Sections and the Numbeing? It is in the Panel Menu book to fly (small arrow in the top right of the Panel)

  With setting through the book panel - open each document and check in the page layout > numbering and Section option too.

  If it does not, remove the documents from the book panel and reimport them one at a time, and the option of numbering and section game you go.

  I don't know why - but sometimes when you set the option of numbering and section of the document, that it does not change in the book - I could never understand a reason for it or probably, I was doing something wrong.

  I have to do an update minute to this old project we have in Framemaker. I've never really used it before so I'm clueless!

  Problem is that I have a book, it consists of several chapters, which everyone seems to have an FM extension.

  I need to create a pdf file and the page numbers in her flowing from chapter to chapter. Problem I have now is that Chapter 1 ends on page 10 and Chapter 2 begins on page 13!

  It wouldn't be so bad if she even inserted a couple of blank pages in the pdf, but it's not so the number goes out of sync!

  In the box of the home page where it lists all the files of FM, I linked on Chapter 2, selected numbers and selected continue numbering from previous file in the book, then pressed together. This is not another if.

• Problem: Right to left Page numbers

  I created a document of 24 pages in Indesign 2015.0 version (Mac version, English), with the to pages. Page numbering starts with the first page. The problem is that on the left-hand pages, the page number is reversed (i.e. "61" instead of "16"). I searched for hours and watched on the internet, no answer.

  You have CS5?

  The text block has 1 or 3 rounded corners?

  This is the case, you must upgrade to a later version or avoid rounded corners with an odd number in a text frame. This is clearly a bug.

• Chapter numbers will appear in the table of contents with page numbers...

  I have a doc that needs to have chapter numbers appear with the page numbers in the table of contents.

  I insert the < $chapnum > and < $currentpagenum > in the footer and I get 1-1 appears.

  To include 1-1 in the table of contents, do I have to edit the referring Page, or is there another way.

  Change the reference to the table of contents page to use the building block as well as the first page, which is <$chapnum>chapnum.<$pagenum>

  Your file, it reads from left to right? The pages are in the right order? The text block are strings in the right order?

  Try to export your file in .idml (in having first removed the numbering blocks) and to reopen it and recreate the numbering, maybe this will solve your problem.

• Notes - restart page numbering for each chapter (workaround)

  Hi all

  As far as I know, there is no way how to reset the reference numbering in ID CS4 (it would be ideal to have any possibility to choose the paragraph style, which could rely on that). Available only three options are available for the reset, all IMHO quite useless for documents faces double - pages numbered page and division (I located him so the names may differ). My chapters always starts on the front page. If the individual "divisions" would be created for each chapter and reset at the beginning of each division, as the division starts on the back page! (cannot be changed), it resets the previous chapter reference numbers, if they appear on this page at the back. But I agree that for documents single side, this option would be sufficient for me.

  Is there no workaround solution how to restart notes with each chapter numbering in the double faces documents? It could be scripted? I really need it...

  Hang on, I think I got it.

  When you're paging the regularly in your document, you use Alt + Pg. Prev / Alt + PgDown (Previous Spread) InDesign always selects the current spread. When you use SHIFT + PG. PREC and Shift + PgDown screen irritating jumps from the left to the right, so I do not use it, but it's the right page selected in the Pages panel.

  The difference is, when propagation is selected in the Pages panel, the new Section is automatically applied to the first (= left) page in which spread.

  If you right click on the page in the Pages panel, where do you want to actually start the new section, it will always apply to the correct. (And if you're a keyboard jockey, first navigate to the correct spread, then press on shift + page down once to get the point on the right page-- right.)

• Avoid problems common with headers paging and chapter pages

  I'm carrying a book and I have headers running on the A-master to show the left of book title and the title of the right chapter. Chapter pages themselves I want to remove the header, so I have a B-Master even A-master but the topics in the topic. That works fine except that I'm still working on a layout that will affect the paging and if all this shifts the masters will be out of sync from the pages of chapter and I; "he's had to go through manually and fix them - is there a way to avoid this? (IE tie / script it so that any page with a "chapter" on that style has applied B-Master of another A-master?)

  Then you are probably best to wait until the book is finished, then assign then masters or substitute and delete headers right there.

  1A, ill-conceived layout? Page numbers should ideally be placed on your master pages, and outside of the margins, you book to plain text (i.e., top, side, or underneath the purple square). Move the frames of page number outside the place of purple Director. If there is no room for this, you need to adjust your margins!

  2. you can 'ignore' the page numbers (they will keep existing), but you can hide them in several different ways. Easier - and more dirty - trick is to put a white rectangle on them (don't do this!). You can also (Cmd) Ctrl + Shift + click on any element on a master page, so "free him" and then just delete the entire frame, with the page number and everything (I wish you didn't do this...). The best way is to assign a new master page to only those pages; a specially created for this purpose (if you have other elements that should appear on all pages), or simply the "[None]" blank page.

  3 search 'referrals' help if you use CS4. You can also search for "Table of contents", it may be useful to regenerate all the content, so the text is up-to-date as well.

  In my indesign project, I tried to insert the two page numbers on the right page (example: 23_24) by inserting after and markers of current page on my master page.  Yet when I look at the result both show the current page (example: 24_24).

• Number of incorrect chapter in numbered lists

  I'm having a problem with lists numbered in a paragraph style.

  What I want to achieve is quite simple - within each chapter of a book, I want numbers to be included among the "Chapter.FigNumber" for example:-

  Chapter 1: Figure 1.1 Figure 1.2 etc.

  Chapter 2: Figure 2.1, Figure 2.2 etc.

  I set up a paragraph to figure references style, using the following options: -.

  

  The problem is that the program does not seem to recognize the exact chapter number, then instead of by example Figure 3.1 of Chapter 3, I get Figure 5.1. This applies to most of the chapters of the book and chapter wrong numbers are also not sequential, for example chapter 1 it's that Chapter 2, Chapter 2 is Chapter 2, Chapter 3 it's Chapter 5...

  I can't understand where the code ^ H in the field above is picking up is information of. I guess if I find this source and correct this, the numbering will work then.

  It may not be the title of the document, as this is clearly labeled "Number - title", may not be of the order of documents within the book feature, that I deliberately positioned the chapters such as "01 - Title" is the first document in the book and consecutively subsequently.

  The documents were not created by me, and the original author has designed over most of the features. It wouldn't surprise me if it was created or modified a parameter that sets the chapter number, and then changed the way the chapters are classified without undoing its original setting.

  OK, I answered my own question! But I'll leave it here in case anyone has the same problem.

  In the 'Pages' Panel, the original author had a reason any opted for these parameters: -.

  

  i.e. it was falsely put the number of Chapter 5 when it should have been 3, and so on.
