However, I always use Prores all the time, at home and at work, so I can't afford not to have the codecs installed. I was wondering what the most simple/less expensive option is to get Prores?

  From what I can tell, buy compressor for £34.99 is the cheapest option, which I am happy to pay if necessray, but it seems a lot for a codec. Anyone know if I can buy the codecs on their own at all? I guess this would entail Apple, admitting that the only thing FOR THAT FCP is good is this codec...

  Motion and Compressor are the cheaper options. Furthermore, I played right away with Adobe Media Encoder on a mac mini (almost) nine and I find that I am able to export to Prores. Funny, I don't remember having bought something from Apple. I just downloaded and deleted everything at the time of the trial of Andrea Fcpx.

  I guess you want to know if it is possible from inside of the guest in dialogue directly with the hypervisor, VMware Tools, but without going out to the network and to ask someone (which in turn requires some knowledge on which ask and the appropriate permissions to do). Then the answer is no.

  On the other hand, if you know for example that all guests who could potentially run the virtual machine are handled by the same server vCenter and you know the name of the vCenter server and have an account that is authorized to connect to it... then you can use this way to determine on which virtual machine host is actually run.

  It is not possible to obtain all hosts a folder specific vCenter from a single query Data Manager.  You need to get the list of centers of data first and then get a list of data center hosts.

  It is best to make these repeated requests to the java level and return only the list that you want to the user interface.

  You can get all the objects in the host of the system with a simple query using a constraint with targetType = 'HostSystem', but you will need to eliminate those from other vCenter servers.  See how this chassis example queries all hosts the Java later in the getHosts() method: samples/chassis-app/chassisRackVSphere-service/src/main/java/com/vmware/samples/chassisRackVSphere/ChassisRackVSphereDataAdapter.java

  Another option is to use the vSphere Web Services SDK to browse vCenter. See the vSphere management forum for help on these APIs.  See this plugin of the sample using this SDK

  Each quarter, we generate a sequence of updates (including patches and security scripts) which are performed manually on our 5.0 ESXi hosts. I don't have an internet connection and so I have to do it this way.  I would like to be able to identify the last quarterly update that has been run on the vCenter servers and/or Client VI.

  Right now, I think adding the quarter, example 1 Q 13 on the DCUI message, then help PowerCLI, vCenter to retrieve the message DCUI, crawled and paste the quarter in the field host Annotations on vCenter.

  Kind of ugly, but I cannot find a cool way to get data like this outside of the host.  I don't want to rely on my user manually set to nothing, for example the field of Annotations on vCenter that is also subject to errors.

  I really want something that can also be seen on the VI Client, too, as the annotations are only on vCenter.

  I have ideas about the best approach to tackle this problem.

  Not sure if this is the best way, but that's what I ended up doing.   It feels like there should be a better way.

  I've updated my quarterly script to add the version number at the bottom of the file, / etc/vmware/welcome, whenever it is run on an ESXi host (e.g. myScript version: v1.0 Date: 04June2013).  This file appears under the banner DCUI.

  Then, I wrote a script powerCLI to roughly the following:

  This replaces the Notes field for each host, one day I can go back and make it more user-friendly where it replaces the version leaving the rest of the field notes intact.

  What is the easiest way to get a TTL pulse out of my system SMU (cheaper?)? I can't use the SMU-6537 jury as it is used for other tasks (fast) (I mean the connector is directly linked to a device to communicate with).

  The cheapest way I can think of to generate a TTL pulse would be to use the USB-6501.  Note that it only supports only avoiding so the length of the pulse is not exact, but if this fits within the limits for you request it's the cheap solution.  Otherwise, I would recommend a card PXI DAQ as the PXI-6220.

  I don't know if this is the right place to post this question, I develop software to support VMWare PCoIP and need to know how to get the host name of the physical machine (which manages the virtual machine and View Client) within a virtual machine before the user logs in Windows of the virtual machine.

  I understand there are two ways to read the host name, via the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Volatile Environment registry and environment variables, but they are available once the user is connected. I need info before the user connects.

  Note that these executed when a virtual desktop computer allocated connection, not to the point that the client connects - it is possible for the customer to not complete the connection (crash, cancel, network failure) and so any what solution you design must handle this.

  If you ready to welcome video on the host server you can do this by importing mp4 files in the current folder and then you can use the HTML code to play this video in HTML5 player and you can set the size in code.

  Please take a look at the steps of the example.

  1. go to file > add files to download > (select the file you want and it will be moved in the current folder)

  2. go to object > insert HTML and the following code Type code
