Windows Update does not work after the hard drive has been replaced

I have the same problem, replaced in my Toshiba HD, rebuild from Sysimage, Windows Update does not work. A ran "fix the problem with the Microsoft Windows Update is not working.
Problem still exist.
The message that I got while trying to update: "Windows Update cannot currently check updates,

The same problem. Cloned old HD on a larger hard drive. Everything worked perfectly except NO indexing and update WITHOUT windows - the two recurring problems that seem to appear on the forums after a change of hard disk.

INDEXING resolved with change to "Intel rapid storage technology." Google what I put in quotes, choose the Download Center and get the specific to your OP and the controller software.

UPDATES have been a little more frustrating. The microsoft .fixes and convenience stores were without help.

Go to control panel / system and Maintenance / administration tools

Select Services

Stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service

Stop Windows Update

In 'My Computer' go to Windows / Software Distribution

Right-click "DataStore" folder. Rename it to Datastore.old

Rename the folder 'Download' Download.old

Return to Services and restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Windows Update.

Look for the updates. It will take some time because you deleted the database.

Windows 7 reports as "Not true" after replacement drive. Windows Update does not work. Any idea?

I got a report that my drive was in imminent danger of failure. Bought and made a direct disc-copy of the old disk cloning. Everything seems to work fine, but now I'm getting the pop up that says Windows is "not true." Windows shows as active, and nothing I've tried will stop the pop-up. Worse, Windows Update does NOT work, and without running a few updates, I'm dead in the water for the use of new devices.

My problem is that automatic update does not work anymore and when I try to next turn to the I get some really long file name is missing. I can not down load and reinstall Security Center because it will not only because it is included in Vista. I can't load it updates as the software that is designed to do this does not work. You must be at Service Pack 3 level before you can use Windows updates.

Go to your desktop and double-click the file name fixme.reg

Restart the PC and try to install the updates again

or

Click Start.

Type regedit in the search field and press to enter.

On the registry change windows click on file and select import.

Navigate to the location where the fixme.reg file and select the file.

Click ok on the windows screen once the registry is merged successfully.

Restart computer and check if updates installs.

* We had system mechanic and I uninstalled it since I discovered that it corrupted my windows installer.
