  I kept my iTunes library on an external hard drive Lacie for recent years.  From time to time I simply opened my iTunes library, music new dump in and re - sync my iPod classic.  A week ago, I did this and got an error during the synchronization.  The iPod is really old, almost complete, but still works.  Nevertheless, I had to stop the sync, restore the iPod and regain sync.  I did it and everything was fine... or so I thought.

  A night or 2 later I went to play a song on my iPod and noticed he wasn't there.  In fact, a very important (and random) part songs were gone from the iPod.   I went into my iTunes library to check and found a large number of songs with the red exclamation points.  I am aware of what that means and has been able to reconnect broken links which gave me about 200 songs which did not work.  The rest seems to be completely DISAPPEARED from my library.  If I go into the files of the album all that remains album files work... NO SONG NO FILES.  I did a spotlight search of title on the HDD for the songs and nothing.  What the * happened?  Miss me him more than 2000 songs.  Very random too.   Some albums have half songs left, a few 1 or 2, some not at all.

  Even weirder, is that if I connect to my iTunes library that sits right on my macbook (which is much smaller, but it shares some of the same songs) on a song/artist will play for that whole part of the alphabet.  For example, the song "Blue Sky" of The Allman Bros plays almost each piece separately in the section "A" of my library.  We go to a Beck song for all the songs of 'B' and so on.  Something bad happened?

  It could be my madness, but I swear yesterday as he tried everything to flow back to the previous libraries to change my main media folder location, which for a second that I did something that made all these songs to work again.  While I had that on the screen, I selected all the good work tracks and thrown on a flash drive to dump if all goes well in to my iTunes corrupt and all library set. I did, and none of the tracks that I've just spilled on the flash drive appeared.  A bunch of other tracks were there, but they were the songs that I didn't need to fix.

  Since this problem noticing, you have restarted your Mac?

  iTunes, media synchronization is from iTunes library to iPod, so it is unlikely that the iPod "reeked havoc" on your iTunes library.  More likely, there was (existing but undiscovered) on your external drive and sync data corruption caused the problem on the iPod (a week ago).

  Run disk utility, select the disk volume (indented under the player) in the disk utility sidebar.  Click first aid.  You can also do the first aid with the drive selected in the sidebar, but a problem is more likely to be detected by checking the volume in this case.  You can also check the internal drive of the MacBook.

  You use Time Machine to backup your user data?  If this isn't the case, you are using other backup methods, such as cloning?

  Huge thank in advance to anyone who can tell me what I need to do to fix this, I Googled, but have not found a complete answer.

  My wife and I have Iphones, I had mine a while when she got hers and I plugged it into my itunes account to put in place. Since then we have had to disable imessage for the number of other people on each of the other telephone, etc.

  We would like to divide that his phone is so entirely separate with its own apple etc ID, but she paid for certain applications so would of course keep these if possible.

  We, ideally also want to (on the same laptop) have itunes running with its own playlists, music, etc. (and not have all my music showing that we have different tastes)

  Any help is appreciated as to what steps I must take to address this issue!

  Yes, it must have its own code of Apple. She also needs to have its own user account on the computer. It is the only way to keep his music, contacts, playlists, etc., separate from yours.

  Hi, I would not recommend using no real cables on Apple devices because they can cause problems. You get also the question of the products not authorized to appear on the screen which can be very annoying and it is because he has not got the necessary cable chip that its not true. The original cable is a little more expensive than the no real but its worth the investment that you don't buy new cables every few weeks. It will work with ITunes and transfer of data, but I wouldn't mind keen charging my iPhone/iPad with a as it is possible that they may cause damage. It's just not worth the risk.

  Hello everyone, I am looking for help with iTunes. I had a collection very messy library/music for a while and decided to launch a new library, hoping that this would solve my problems. First I organized files, albums, and artists in their respective places, then I created the new library (start iTunes with down option). I choose freshly organized music from the previous iTunes media folder and let the program work but much of my music had not been transferred. I trudged through the differences and tried to add these separately and it did not work, even if some of the missing artists/albums have not added that have everything. I'm doing something wrong? is there a better way? I tried the course letter-to-letter (beginning artists by) does not.
  I use the latest version of iTunes with el capitan on a mac book pro end 2013. any help much appreciated.

  Also, I found that I had create the library, wait adding / the transformation that will take place and then go back to my hard drive and open all files before they showed up in my list of artist. now, I'll have to drag the files on the app for them to add iTunes. I have the old files of the previous library in the file multimedia iTunes and now the folder iTunes1 with duplicates of some but not all.   So today, I opened itunes and about half of my music files were missing. A message came when I tried to click on a song and says that it is impossible to locate the files and the missing files now have an exclamation mark next to them. My iphone 6 has all the music files still on it and I am able to read them. I had happen in the past with one or two songs that have disappeared and I tried to connect my iphone to try and resynchronizing the file of the song, but just itunes erases songs out of my iphone, so I re-download just them, although it is a big problem. But because there are about 400 songs missing I need help to solve this problem. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated thanks!

  Hi, I'm having trouble installing iTunes on windows 7 Home premium.  I get the error message:

  Can someone please help? I tried a number of online suggestions already such as the abolition of the old iTunes, empty the temporary files, etc. but also call apple and Microsoft and no one can help!

• iTunes transfer HELP!

  I did something really stupid and I hope that there is a way to fix it!  I got a new PC.  Transferred my iTunes from the old computer to an external hard drive.  I thought I did it correctly (and this is where stupidity) and so I proceeded to restore my old computer to its factory settings.  Transfer iTunes to the hard drive external to the new computer, but not all transferred.  It looks like all the albums I had transferred, but not all the songs in the transferred albums.  So, here's what I'm left with: partial library in the new computer, complete library (?) in external hard drive, an iPhone that has all the songs and albums that were in the old computer and an iCloud account (I can't understand how to locate my music in the cloud, however).  I can do or that I just lost a whole bunch of music?  * Oh, and the majority of my music was physical CD that I bought (so not through itunes) and I have waaaay won't drag all these cds and redo everything.

  If you really have the complete library on the external hard drive you can hold the SHIFT key as you launch iTunes and try to connect to the library on this drive. For more information, see Open a different iTunes library file or create a new Support Apple's one .

  If the library opens and shows all your content, but some of them do not play, come back and we can discuss how to fix this. In most cases, the iTunes library will be shaped mobile that works regardless of the path. For more information, see make a library of portable split .

  If the library works on the outside, then you should be able to clone on the internal drive. See how to backup your iTunes library with SyncToy Windows for for a suggested method that allows to keep the backup to update in the future. Once copied to disk internal (or a second external if you prefer) you can start-Maj-iTunes again to move to the location that you want to act as a major version.
