  • Check the file size before downloading

    Hi there guys...

I'm having a problem at the moment... How can I check the file size before being transmitted to the server?

I was given a task to check if the file size limit is 500 KB and then block the download and warn the user.

According to my colleague from work... This is not possible with Javascript or Ajax... is there another method I can use?

    kindly help... Thank you

It is a good answer, but it is interesting to note that Flash Player is itself a control ActiveX (when run in IE). In short, you need something beyond code that runs directly in the browser to do this. It can be done with just HTML and JavaScript in a web page.

  • With the help of cgi. CONTENT_LENGTH to check the file size before cffile

I'll set up a form that allows users to upload files to our site ftp on the web server. I want to restrict the total size of the file to say 50 megs so I use an if statement and cgi. CONTENT_LENGTH to check the size of the file. It seems that the check can be done once the file is downloaded to a temporary file which defeats the purpose to check the size if it's already there. In my tests it make take 15 minutes to discover that my 52 meg file exceeded my limit of 50 MB. Is it possible to do the checking of file size before you actually download the entire file?

Right, with cffile, you need to download everything first.

There is a Flash/CFforms elegant solution that will allow you to access BEFORE upload file size. See ASFusion.com:

  • Create new report if the file size is too large

The sequences I run in TestStand have the ability to generate large reports and I am looking for a way to start a new sequence of intermediate report if the file size exceeds certain limits, either start a new report every night at midnight.

I am currently using TestStand 2014 and reports ATML 5.00.

There is no specific substitutions that solve this problem 'in configuration and only few implementation".

The point is that you should follow the following steps:

    1. check the size of the file after writing a new segment of report data.

    2. If size > configured the file size, create a new file. Write a footer in the previous file, duplicate the header for the new file information and store the handle to file for all the previous files.

    3. once the test is complete, update the header in all files (remember: the header contains the overall result of the ESA.) This is known only when the test is finished!) and finalize all the report files.

In the plugins default report, none of the above functions is applied.

You want may also focus on 'File offline results' as a reporting mechanism. It might be easier to change things using this approach, unless you go the recommended manner: database.

Please could someone clarify this? I read on a few messages that if Vista SP1 is already installed then the Vista SP2 update file size should be around 40-50 MB.

Recently, I ran free TDSSKiller from Kaspersky Lab to check my PC for the DNSChanger Malware.  After executing TDSSKiller, he registered 6 files to be suspicious. Two are Microsoft files. The files and their paths are:

    (2) mhndrv.sys.  Path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\mhndrv.sys

    Thanks, Terry

Scan the files with your antivirus application (which is...?)

You can also download on Virus Total, as long as the file size is less than 32 MB.

Total virus scan files downloaded with about 39 different tools antivirus and you provides reports:

  • Why the file size does not change when I use "Process multiple Images" to add a watermark?

    Hello

I use 11 elements. To add a watermark to a lot of JPG photos at the same time, I use the function 'process multiple files.

I select a source folder and a destination folder and adds a number to three numbers for each file. I do NOT check the box marked 'change photo size. After that, I set the watermark I want printed on my photos and hit OK. All files in the source folder are processed and saved with a new name in the destination folder. Loyally.

But. The file size of the new file is strongly reduced, compared to the original. He's going from 10 MB to 500 KB (in general). Why is this? Is there a way I can help?

    Kind regards

    / Mikael Lindgren

File size reduction is the effect of jpeg compression. In the process several files dialog, check the bottom option "convert files to the format" and choose "jpeg max quality.

  • Record and save under is no longer see the file size

I have Photoshop CS6 and first 11 elements and two showed the file size correctly estimated until a couple of weeks, and all both stopped at the same time.  With the help of Image, Mode I checked on both the images I am recording are 8-bit images and not 16-bit.  I am on Windows 7, 64 bit.

Please help as I find this feature very useful.

Well, after investigation over last night and this morning, I think items works very well and that I was confused by the way Image, luxury magazine fashion shows '-bit 8/channel","BOLD"or grayed out and not with chunks of choice between 8 & 16 (or 32) such as CS6.

Thank you all for your help and this can probably be liquidated now.  I'll start a new question on the Photoshop Forum now.

  • Check the file system on C or registry cannont load the hive!

Ok... I have a Dell Vostro 1510... all of a sudden, I can't on this laptop!  I have Windows XP Professional.  It lights up when I choose to start windows... I am said to be:

    Checking file system on c:

The type of the file system is NTFS.

    Volume label is System.

Then, when it starts to run it says: CHKDSK checks the files (step 1 of 3)... it happens to 47% finished and that's all!  It won't do anything else, it just stops!

If I have to cancel the verification file system I get this message:

    STOP: c0000218 {Registry file failure}

The registry cannot load the hive (file):

    \SystemRoot\System32\Config\System

    or its log or alternation.

It is damaged, missing, or not accessible in writing.

I do not have the disks provided with the laptop or I will say that I can not find them... I read a lot of these forums but none I saw helps me!  Because I can not enter and try to run anything!

Thanks for any help in advance!

I see you mentioned do not have all the disks with the laptop and maybe it's that he came not with any, because the installation files are likely in a hidden partition.
but try to borrow a winxp cd and boot with it.
then in the window settings pitch repair to start the recovery console.
then at the prompt of disk, run the following >:

    Chkdsk /r
    Chkdsk /f

then exit, remove the cd and restart the computer.

the above commands are redundant, but nothing wrong with double controls.

In addition, if you receive a following error on boot sector, then run via the recovery console fixmbr.

  • The file size and YouTube

I'm relatively new to videos. I have incorporated a few YouTube videos on my site, but I started to play with the Prime Minister in the hope to learn to make my own videos. I wonder if someone could help me to answer a few questions about the size of the file.

A large image can greatly increase the size of the page file, in order to put a video on a page should have a huge impact. Or is the negligible impact because the video doesn't "load" until someone clicks on it?

When someone plays a video, it probably uses a lot of bandwidth.

So it occurred to me that the obvious solution to the file size band bandwidth problems and probably is bandwidth. Instead of hosting videos on my sites, I could upload them to YouTube and then embed them on my web pages.

If I use this strategy, which would help a lot in terms of use of bandwidth and page load time?

Maybe I should have put my question this way: what are the advantages and disadvantages of video hosting on your site rather than publish them on YouTube? I guess that I retain the copyright for all the videos I put on YouTube.

    Thank you.

If played from YouTube or your own web server, the file size of the video will not add anything significant to the size of the web page.  They are simply text files, very small in comparison.  Adding a video is a few lines of code pointing to the reading software and the video file itself.

If you host the file on your own server, then the bandwidth will count towards your monthly totals, while only hosted on YouTube, he obviously won't.  But the web page itself will not change much in size.

Don't know or the other of these issues matter much, however.  You can get hosting packages unlimited bandwidth for $100 / year, maybe less.

Copyright is another problem.  YouTube will take down or limit some videos under certain conditions.  (And these days, not all these conditions are fair and appropriate under the U.S. Copyright Act).  Their accommodation on your own site, this isn't a concern.  (However, it does not necessarily legal, either.)

  • When lowering pixels of resolution of a video, the file size becomes smaller...

    Hello!

    My question is this:

    I am importing a tiff of scope (2048 X 858) 2K sequence in Premiere Pro CC 2015.

When I go to the export section, as you can see in this video link:

First Pro CC 2015 (resolution size) export settings - YouTube

and try to lower the resolution 2048 X 858, 5 X 2 or 854 X 480 or 1280 X 536! the size of the file remains the same! Is this possible?

This means that if I have a 4K video and a video card, they will have exactly the same file size!

I tried to make a sequence of low resolution and drop tiff sequence and adjustment of the sequence in the image of low resolution tiff, but I have the same problem.

I've even nested sequence of high-resolution sequence of lower resolution, but... Nothing...

Does this make sense? What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you!

    Yiannis

Yiannis, Yes. Unlike a photo, a video, the file size is determined by the data rate. However, the data/flow isn't what determines quality, you need to consider in the codec you use.

For example, a 50 Mbit/s, 720 x 480 H.264 file and a 50 Mbps DV (video only, forgetting the audio codecs) will be exactly the same size. but the H.264 file is going to be better because it's a step more coded with a better compression algorithm.

Another factor that determines the size of the file is the frame rate. I'm not saying that you should drop your rate to save space, but know that if you save 2 files with the same exact settings, but we're 30 p or 25 p and the other is 50 p or 60 p, then the latter will be twice as large.
