  • Folder permissions in Windows 7 - a program that creates a file always has the authority to check the size of this file?

    Hello

Where I work, we have a phone call, saving application that creates records of calls as .wav files.

Before placing each record in long-term storage, the application creates a copy of the file (which is smaller) MP3 and then made a calculation of the free space to ensure that there is place in the long term for the newly created file storage.

As part of the application must check the size of the MP3 file that he had just created and - I thought - calculation of space under Windows 7 that determination of the size of the file is sometimes a failure.

(I think I understand, is that a .net function allows to determine the size of the file.)

    My query...

If an application has sufficient privileges to create a file in a folder on the drive C: of the PC default also always have the right to determine the size of this file?

Or are these two completely separate rights?

For example, is it possible to have with no other rights granted write access?

    Thank you very much.

The order of the questions, you asked:

    Yes

    Yes

    NO.

It is indeed possible to give the file 'write' - access to the account, but not 'read' - access. However, even in this case the account can determine the size of the file.

Log in under the account you are using for the conversion allows you to confirm my answers. To see the size of a file, use Windows Explorer or the Console command "dir".

  • Dynamics Processor Calc does not reach more than [100] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase the CalcLockBlock setting, and then try again (a small data cache setting can also cause this problem, check the size of data cache setting).

    Hello

Our environment is Essbase 11.1.2.2 and work on Essbase EAS and components of Shared Services. One of our user tried to execute the Script of Cal of a single application and in the face of this error.

Dynamics Processor Calc does not reach more than [100] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase the CalcLockBlock setting, and then try again (a small data cache setting can also cause this problem, check the size of data cache setting).

I did a few Google and found that we need to add something in the Essbase.cfg file as below.

Dynamics Processor Calc 1012704 fails to more blocks ESM number for the calculation, please increase the CalcLockBlock setting, and then try again (a small data cache setting can also cause this problem, check the size of data cache setting).

    Possible problems

Analytical services cannot lock enough blocks to perform the calculation.

    Possible solutions

Increase the number of blocks of analytical Services can allocate to a calculation:

    1. Set the maximum number of blocks of analytical Services can allocate at least 500.
      1. If you are not a $ARBORPATH/bin/essbase.cfg on the file server computer, create one using a text editor.
      2. In the essbase.cfg folder on the server computer, set CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH to 500.
      3. Stopping and restarting Analysis server.
    2. Add the command SET LOCKBLOCK STUDENT at the beginning of the calculation script.
    3. Set the cache of data large enough to hold all the blocks specified in the CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH parameter.

In fact in our queue (essbase.cfg) Config Server we have given below added.

    CalcLockBlockHigh 2000

    CalcLockBlockDefault 200

    CalcLockBlocklow 50

So my question is if edit us the file Essbase.cfg and add the above settings restart services will work?  and if yes, why should change us the configuration file of server if the problem concerns a Cal Script application. Please guide me how to do this.

    Kind regards

    Naveen

    Yes it must *.

Make sure that you have "migrated settings cache of database as well. If the cache is too small, you will have similar problems.

  • What are the steps to increase the size of Guest OS Windows Server 2003 disk?

    People,

Hello. I use 3 Player VM and Guest OS Windows Server 2003. The host OS is Windows 7.

I just increase the disk size of Virtual Machine from 80 GB to 150 GB successfully. The next thing to do is to repartition the disk size of Guest OS Windows Server 2003 in 150 GB.

What are the specific steps to increase the size of Guest OS Windows Server 2003 disk?

    Thank you.

    Only, I tried start gparted-live - 0.7.0 - 4.ISO both gparted-live - 0.7.0 - 7.iso in VMware Player and had no problem in order to check the MD5SUM.

Attach the file vmware.log so we can see what is happening.

  • How to check the size of the measure

    Dear friends,

I hope someone could me advice on that.

I need to check the extent of the current database size. and I need to know how much space the scope is used facing upwards.

    We perform usually batch load.

The database was now swollen and my s/n told me to check the size of the measure and how much space is used.

To the best of my knowledge, each block will host a number of records, leaving little space for oracle maintenance and future updates.

When the current measure is full, oracle creates another measure. right?

How will this affect load batch?

each load will have a new measure?

Please throw some light on this.

    Cheers!

    Benard

NOTE: I can think of is to convert the pfile-spfile and check the value, but according to me, there are some points of view that I can use to check it out right? as in a data dictionary?

If your batch load using INSERT with a hint of PARALLEL, each parallel slave allocates a separate measure. This can cause the table to grow disproportionately faster - especially if you do this every day.
Similarly, the indicator APPEND will always add extensions and new blocks and use no space between existing blocks.

If these tables are subsequently deletes, you can consider using ALTER RETRACTABLE TABLE, or ALTER TABLE MOVE to rebuild the tables (and their indexes with the ALTER INDEX REBUILD statement).

  • check the size on hard drive mail account

    Hi all

small question. Is it possible to check the size occupied on the disk by mail accounts?

    Thank you very much!

    Greetings jfs - dev,

Thanks for posting here in Support of Apple communities. I see you are eager to see how much space to use on your Mac mail accounts. I'll be more than happy to help.

Your profile says you have El Capitan, so for you, you can locate the Mail folder in your library to estimate the storage it uses. Here are the instructions to find this file:

    1. open Finder

    2. click on the 'Go' and 'Go to Folder' drop-down list and type "~ / Library /" without the quotes and click on 'Go '.

    3. find the "E-mail" folder, right click and choose 'Get Info'

If you have MacOS Sierra 10.12 new version, it's a little easier:

    1. click the  button and click on 'about this Mac'

    2. click on the storage tab

    3. click on 'manage... '. »

One on the page manage the it will break your storage and show you the storage used by the Applications, Documents, iBooks, iCloud Drive, iOS, Mail, Photos, Trash, and system files.

  • How can I check the disc for physical integrity on Satellite P305?

    I have P305-S8838.

I had some freezing problems earlier this month, and on the notice here, I nu start-up and reduced services a little at a time.
Now, I have a few more crash but don't know if it's a physical disk problem.

For example... I have run CHKDSK and does many things and happens at the exact same spot and hangs at step 4 file 5 3498 or 421168 processed.

I tried to run CHKDSK in SafeMode but tells me drive is locked and it will run when I restart. But the restart put back me in normal mode and get the same hang.

Now, for more suspicion of a physical problem. I tried to make a disk image with ACronis and same problem occurs because he says impossible to reading data 226 964, 072 sector and ask if I want to ignore and continue. I say yes to everything. Log shows he made about three of these attempts and crashes.

I ran sfc/scannow and it says found problems that he was unable to fix. The newspaper isn't so long and complex course that all means. I could send these log files if someone can help me understand.

I ran the test of memory OK.

I if I could put in DVD Toshiba and certain diagnoses, but when I put in the disk I get this big warning I'll crush, etc and I have chicken.

This didn't stop me to use the computer, but its all irritating.

How can I check the disc for physical integrity?

    Bob

    Hello

He idea goo to check the HARD disk and run some diagnostic procedures.
For this, I recommend the freeware tool called Drive Fitness Test.
It allows you to check the HARD disk for certain physical defects.

Google for this tool. You can get it from multiple pages download

  • Y510P - How can I check the size of the SSD Cache?

    Hello

I just took delivery of a Y510P but don't see anywhere how I check the size of the SSD Cache.

The laptop should have come with an 8 GB SSD Cache but how to check this?

    Thank you very much

    Jon

Brayjd, I, too have just received my Y510p, and after reading your post, became curious as well. After trying all the same things you did, without any good results, I went into the Device Manager and got the hard drive part number and google it. It turns out that mine is a hybrid SSD/HD with a SSD 8 GB cache built into the player. A hybrid has the SSD completely autonomous in the HD itself and requires no external software to run. That's why we have found no information on the size - for what is the rest of the computer is the SSD is invisible. Try Googling the part number of the hard drive. I hope this will answer the question for you, too.

There is no way to 'check', he always does. Hard drive actually leave data partitions vfat see you with df - h.

It takes that data and creates a virtual disk it uses for execution.

  • Checking the size of the file with Java

I'm trying to download a zip file using cfzip in an app, I'm trying. I use Java to get the size of files before the file is uploaded but the 'analysis' results and the size of the gall are completely different and I was hoping someone could tell me what the problem.

    Here's the java code

<! - check the size of the zip file - >
    < len (form.zipGallery) cfif >
    < cfset f = createObject("java","java.io.File").init (form. ZipGallery) >
    < cfif f.length (gt) (25 * 2048) >
< cfset valError = listAppend (valError, "this file is too large. (Please make less than 25 MB zip file"&"-"& #f.length () #) >
    < / cfif >
    < / cfif >

The file is 23.6 MB and it returns a value of 24804509.

    What Miss me?

    Thanks in advance.

the actual size of the file is 23.65542316436767578125 MB or something like that.

the length() method returns bytes. divide by (1024 * 1024) for mb.

  • Impossible to make the link between the consistent readings with the number of physical block reads

    Hello

The issue is that we have seen consistent readings are more than the total buffers necessary to give back the results.
I emptied the buffer_cache before you execute the query and also questioned the V$ BH to know the details of the buffer for these objects... After the flush before you trigger the request that we do not have buffers about these tables. Which is expected.
We are doing sequential reads of DB file with the plan and will result in a single block, read at a time.
Please take a close look at "TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID CMPGN_DIM (cr = pr 45379 = 22949 pw = time 0 = 52434931 US)" line in the plan source line below...
Here we have only 22949 data buffers 22949 means reading physical but we are witnessing gets 45379 coherent.

Note: We have the CMPGN_DIM and AD_GRP tables in the tablespace size 4 M block and we have only the default db_cache_size. My database block size is 8192.

Can you please help me understand how the 22949 sequential reads the result in 45379 coherent takes.

Even the V$ BH query buffer details matches with physical reads.
