  Nagios Checker 0.16 is an add-on obsolete based on the deceased status bar. In order to make it work in Firefox 29, you need to install an add-on that provides a toolbar add-on replacement, such as 'the add-on bar (restored)', "Restorer of classic theme" or "status-4-Evar".

  I updated firefox V9 and although I rebooted the nagios checker, it does not appear as before at the bottom of my firefox screen.

• About discovery of Nagios Plugin

  I recently installed Hyperic and I try to integrate it into an existing installation of Nagios.  I installed the agent on two different servers of Nagios (production and dev) and in both cases the automatic discovery Nagios detects that the Nagios server in/usr/local/nagios but finding no services/plug ins.  There is no 'Availability of Nagios' entry created under resources-mast head, and no service appear in the Nagios server on each platform.  I tried manually adding a Nagios Plugin service and this will give me the option of availability in the mast-head, but no data is displayed and the service seems not really to do something.
  
  Any suggestions that I can do to get Hyperic to discover my Nagios checks?
  I run the agent HQ to the same user running Nagios slot, so it has full access to the nagios/libexec directory.  It is an essential feature to operate if we adopt Hyperic because we have hundreds of services monitored in our existing Nagios installation, including some custom archiving scripts that would be very intensive time in port.

• Nagios + vMotion/DRS

  Anyone know of a Nagios plug/module that can detect when a VMware guest virtual computer moves from one host to another host due to the DRS, vMotion? It would be nice if Nagios can also be configured to display history a trend happening on each host for the time period selected as well.

  Unfortunately, you aren't able to pull data on vMotion or something like that vsphere SDK for comments.  See page 8 of the

• Tracking database using Nagios (the search for scripts)

  We currently have BigBrother to Nagios with regard to the broad monitoring company. I'm working on the side of the data base of the things and I wonder if there is someone out there who can tell me where I can get scripts "ready made" rather than having me to write from scratch. Nagios has plugins for the database, but no handles things like memory, on-demand jobs followed etc.

• Performance T530 Windows 7 problem

  Hi all

  I just got T530 core i7 with 8 GB of RAM, Win 7 ultimate and 128 GB SSD for my employer. Problem is the performance - experience very laggy and choppy on some web page complete (we use Nagios, system monitoring and mouse over the controls is a pain really in the... - tried last ie, firefox, chrome, each time the same).

  Everything seems that laptop is in a kind of energy saving mode very hardcore - fan only or is not even spin in the work of 12 hours, out fan is not too much hotter than room temperature, but each installation of power management (including the latest lenovo Power Manager and the Windows one built-in) are in maximum performance mode.

  I tried everything possible, playing with power management all the time, disable windows aero and stuff like that, as I mentioned - different browsers, even with a different setting in compatibility mode Windows, windows services on unnecessary sttoped and tasks and more, but nothing helps.

  One thing speeds fan significant level - option to boost power in lenovo power management, but the performace stayed the same

  As I said - I've got the machime of my employer, if the BIOS is locked. Made me thinking that if it is not present a kind of power also, is it?

  Hi again, thanks for the answers. In fact, I found a solution! I realized that poor performance on a full web page is present only on some elements of the page (text, links, etc.), on the blank spots, it behaves normally. So I went to properties of mouse pointers in the Panel, off all types of windows aero pointers and especially - disabled the check 'Enable shadow of pointers' and boom, everything works fine now!   I am new to the BB world. Previous I've set up a Nagios server in a small business with about 20 guests. Now that I have a new job, I need to implement a new system. The number of clients (hosts) has grown exponentially. Say that 500 to 1,000, distributed in different places (with a few miles between). This company has implemented a server Big Brother a couple of years ago, when it was still open source and free. We now make a new system, or the conversion of the former.

  My question is: can I export configurations from the old system to a new version of BB or I have to reconfigure them everywhere? Export and import the configuration would be a great advantage for the BB.

  I know it's probably covered somewhere but I searched a lot on this subject, information is nothing but contradictory and confusing and it's something I want to be wrong.

  I get this message when you POST messages and cannot hit for the interface of the iDRAC. I don't mean to solve it, but don't know if it's a problem with the iDRAC, the cycle of life or USC controller. Server is on Ubuntu and I installed Nagios and OpenManage, and I get a message saying: "controller 0 [PERC 6 / i integrated]: Firmware '6.2.0 - 0013' is obsolete", but I don't know how reliable upgrade on Ubuntu. All the guides seem to be for Redhat and Suse. Is there a LiveCD that I can use to correct/update the firmware?

  Idrac and the regulator of the life cycle are the 2 halves of the same coin. Ideally, you want to update both to the latest version from the support site. Because you are running Ubuntu, it's maybe a little more difficult if the Dell Update Packages (DUP) does not correctly under that OS. I don't him have not tried on that one.  There are several ways to approach this problem:

  1. If you can download the idrac and LC dups and run them from within the OS, it would be easier

  2. you can try to power on the system for 30 seconds reset the LC, plug the unit to rear-wheel drive in, and then wait at least 1 minute before actually turn on/off the system. It is crucial that you wait for the idrac can complete its startup when the system is off. If you have the small LCD on the front of the system, once it meets the buttons, turn on the system.

  3. If step 2 deletes the message and you can F10 in the LC, use the platform update function to update the LC.

  4. its possible you might have a pretty old idrac and LC that you MUST use a package update based operating system, and if this is the case, and step 1 does not work for you, then you will need to do one of two things.

  a. you can use the omsa live startup disk, and then run the idrac and lc dups from a usb key.

  b. install and create a repository with the repository Manager 1.5, then create a bootable disc to update for your system model.

  There is a video to this place who can show you how to create an iso bootable for your system.

  There is a 3rd option called systems build and update utility, which you can start to, but then you need the utility of update server Dell 7.1.1 or later version for update packages.  This iso is 5 + GB and requires a disc double layer.

  Foglight doesn't do this out of the box, but it can be configured.  Check out these two positions: one and two.

  That said, I hope that you check that the telnet port is not open.  No one should use telnet these days, it isn't safe. Use ssh.

  You should probably seek a solution based on SNMP. There's a certain open source (Zabbix, Nagios, Cacti,...) and commercial (PRTG, Cisco first LMS,...) of the solutions out there

  I have half a dozen routers RV042 in various places.  They are running v4.0.0.07.  Apparently at random, I had the

  502 bad Gateway

  The CGI/1.1 CGI was not consistent.

  error when you try to connect to the web interface with google chrome (even with IE too).  This is happening on the side LAN.  I actually didn't notice until my software Opsview monitoring threw up a critical when he did get an http response.

  The router otherwise actually works very well.

  Since the first occurrence, several of my routers have developed the same error.

  I have tried different browsers, clear caches, although I'm not surprised that these efforts were in vain, because clearly there is a problem even when no browser is involved (nagios).  Nagios http checking also returns a 502 Bad Gateway.

  I guess that a reboot is in order, but I'm looking for other explanations/solutions before having to restart because I would like to avoid that if possible.  If I can help more, please let me know.

  I know you are trying to avoid a reboot, but I would try and see if the problem goes away.  The rv series starts acting funky when they have not been restarted for awhile.

  I try to install the stand-alone UCS Nagios plugin to monitor our C240M3 which uses the XML API to read the data from the sensor, when I try to use the plugin with the self-signed certificate of MMIC I get the SSL error, so I thought that no problem I'll generate a cert for the MMIC of our internal CA. I produced a CSR in the webUI MMIC according to the instructions and left our CA cert, but I have problems to import the certificate.

  I tried the DER encoded .cer file both a B64 and I also tried to import the chain into a .p7b file and I get "certificate Upload Failed. Could not validate"of the MMIC every time.

  As I said I am trying this on a C240M3 and it is running v 2.0.1(a) I know 2.0.1(b) is out, but I saw nothing about SSL certificates in the release notes and we are a 24/7 facility, and it would be at least two weeks before I can schedule downtime to perform the update.

  I came across something very similar recently trying to sign and to download a third party PositiveSSL certificate (public certification authority).  It could not download, and TAC has determined that it was due to the presence of an attribute extended usage (EKU) key, namely "SSL client: Yes.
