CHKDSK displays bad index file.

How can I fix this bad file index. I have XP32 - SP3 - IE8

1. open my computer.

2. right click on Local disk (c :)) (assuming this is the partition that contains Windows XP), and select Properties.)

3. click on the Tools tab.

4. click on the check now button.

5 check the two boxes that appear under "check disk Options.

6. click on start.

When you restart, the CheckDisk program will work. Since it will be analyzes your entire hard drive and attempt to fix the system and recovery of bad sectors errors, it will take a VERY long time. So you can do this before you go to sleep! (No doubt, when you ran before, you only run the scan without no repair option.)

What was the reason that you run chkdsk in the first place?

In the future, when you ask for help, please provide the following information (in addition to what you already provided):

-brand, model and model number of your PC

-If you have the appropriate XP installation CD

-TYPE of XP (Home, Pro or MCE)

-whatever it happened recently that might have caused the problem, you now have (spike power or failure, malware, etc.)

-the EXACT message you saw (using the expression "due to a problem" doesn't help us understand what the problem is)

  • CHKDSK, delete the Index files and recover... Is this possible?

    Well, today I decided I wanted to store a few photos from my camera to my external hard drive and so I plugged into my laptop which was my SD card ready to export/import. Right, so all the files are saved on the external hard drive when I safely eject the drive from the laptop. In my main computer. Well what do you know? The files are not there, so my first thought is, "maybe, if I restart my computer they will be responsible," right. Well I rebooted my computer, he crossed the CHKDSK, signed at and everything when I check my drive to find these specific files not saved except for videos.

    I stayed with a bootex.log file and nothing else. Is it possible to recover these files, or are forever parties? Looks like the last one. But I've read everywhere about "possible" recoveries that have been made.
    I checked my eventviewer, "eventvwr.msc" and I looked as the locations of the files 'CHKDSK '.

    I googled them and the search results seemed to suggest there was some kind of security threat.  At that time, the number was significantly higher at 12.  (in the 80 years and 50 years.)  I thought that maybe the words 'security descriptors' should I worry.

    No, it isn't really a threat.  Security descriptors are where permissions are stored, these permissions to control who can and who have no access to 'the object' in question.  Unused security descriptors simply means that descriptors that are not used.  Files can no longer be present or the descriptor can be orphaned otherwise, like everything is blank and the error message can be annoying to see but in your case, it's nothing to worry about.

    What are the security and access control lists descriptors?

    In a sequence of CTF, is it possible to obtain a text file of clips in sequences display (name and duration)? There is a display of text file for clips (cmd-9). Zoom the timeline makes this visible annotation for shorts, cancels but the ability to see the whole sequence of the time line. Of course, it would help my editing.

    TIA

    In Final Cut Pro 7, you can use editing > find command to search on used clips in the sequence. See if there is an equivalent command in FCE. Unfortunately, I can't determine that at first hand on my system. (In addition, if you are still interested whereas FCP X, there the so-called Timeline index which provides quick access to a list of markers, clips, effects, etc..)

  • TDMS-2503 error recovery - delete the index file does not

    My team worked an acquisition of data on some test machines, and I went today to begin the analysis of the data.  It turns out that two of the TDMS files that we generated cannot be opened in Diadem, Excel or use the controls file TDMS Opend in LabVIEW.  I also tried the repair of PDM tool, with the same result.  The test machine has since been demolished, so there is no way to re - run tests.  Is it possible to have the files was looking to see if all the data can be recovered?

    The files were generated with LabVIEW 2013 SP1.  Attemtped to open them in the same version of LabVIEW, and Diadem 2015, and the importer of excel (excel 2010).

    TDMS files are rather large (> 1 GB), but the tdms_index files that were generated with them were 0kB.  Delete the tdms_index files and re - open the TDMS files had no effect.

    A first look into files (using the primitives to open the binary in LabVIEW), the initial section of the appearance of correct files (readable metadata that matches from a work file in a non-working file).

    He seems to have no notable connection between the two files that will not open, nor the differences in the situation of these files for work files.

    Any help would be greaty appreciated.

    TDMS files are written in chuncks.  At the beginning of each chunck belongs to the human readable semi which is data such as channel names and groups, but contains no actual data.  Then follows the binary data.  The index is intended for all semi human readable file and any data.  This should make the reading of the file easier because the file offset and such are in the index file smaller.

    This being said if you have some sections corrupted in your DDHN file you can always get the data out of it.  There is a code floating around that pull each of the segments and find out what is the problem, then all allows you to get all the data before the wrong section.  This thread talking about it, and a short code displayed around page 3.

  • Create an Index file?

    Hello:

    With the help of Dreamweaver 7 (even if 8 is on the way) that I provided content and some low level to a website design. (Style sheets?) models are CFM, which I am slowly coming to speed on. I want to download and link a large number of documents that will be offered to viewers of the site. Over time, I will summarize each document and provide a direct link. Initially, however, I would like to just display the illustrated and connected directory with the files: "/Publications Index" (for example: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge/RadarImg/)

    Site security do not allow direct viewing of the folder. Can I create an index file which has a script that automatically displays all files related to open it? (/ Publications/index.cfm)- or is it possible to do this easily?

    Thank you

    Hi all

    When I checked the total space filled the data file is filled only with 25% and the index file is filled with 47%.

    My hypothesis is old index are still there and so this is the reason that is the cause of the performance problem, we need to drop and recreate the index which will increase performance.

    is the conclusion above is correct or any error is in there.

  • 33.1 FireFox will not display the PDF file from the website of the Bank after 33.1

    I asked this question in a non-support ticket so I want to give more details here. I tried to uninstall Adobe reader and reinstall and it did not help. It worked before with all the exact same addins I had before. I called the Bank and asked if they had any problems and they say no. I can go to the Firefox PDF display for this file and click Download the PDF file, then double-click it in Windows Explorer and Adobe reader appears and displays the file very well. Don't mind what to do at the moment. What happens is the Bank to load the file then Adobe reader opens with a white screen and a small circle going round and round, like a video trying to play, and it is just there for always. I never see the content of the file. In any case I hope that your have a good of a day as I am and I know that it improves. Thanks Firefox programmers for such a wonderful program.

    Update: while I was writing this I thought to go in Firefox options, then Applications, and wouldn't you know, a PDF document has been set to "Preview in Firefox. I changed that to Adobe reader and now it works fine. Suppose that there is something wrong with the code in Firefox. So I'm happy now. Hope this helps someone.

    Yes, the built-in PDF Viewer is a work in progress. Glad you found a workaround, or go to your favorite configuration, depending on how you look.

    Tried to open a file of numbers. Dialog box shows: the invalid document___is. The xml index file is missing. I can retrieve this file? Suggestions?

    Yes, all you have to do is probably make sure you run the version of numbers which is located in your main Applications folder and open the document with this version.  Probably, you try to open it with the old version of numbers.

  • nilibddc dll: opening files tdms with the corrupt index files

    Hello

    I have a question about the error handling when using the nilibddc.dll.

    I want to use nilibddc.dll to open the .tdms file. At the time I experimented with some error cases and got stuck in a case:

    When I try to open a file with a corrupted file .tdms_index .tdms I get code error-6211 (DDC_StorageCouldNotBeOpened).

    The file .tdms_index is corrupted due to errors during the copy of the file.

    The problem I've noticed is that I have a lock on the corrupted file .tdms_index file after DDC_OpenFile (...) (I can rename it, but I can't delete the file!).

    As you can see in the code snippet - it is not really special...

    int ddcError = 0, length;
    DDCFileHandle file = 0;

    ddcError = DDC_OpenFile (file_path, NULL, &file);)

    Here, I get ddcError is-6211
    If (ddcError == 0)
    {
    do something with the file...

    ddcError = DDC_CloseFile (leader);

    If (ddcError == 0)
    {
    < "no="" error="" -="" everything="" done"=""><>
    }
    }

    System ("pause");

    I miss something here? Should I use DDC_FreeMemory in somehow to free open handles?

    I also tried to use the DDC_OpenFileEx (...) with readOnly set to true. But that doesn't change anything!

    Thanks in advance for the help,

    Daniel

    You are right. The sample file you attached to your message causes an access violation. If no normal flow program and apllication in undefined state.

    I will direct the file to developers. I tried to generate a file that causes the same by beating some index files, but has failed to create one on my own. It happened to your site more than once?

    What can we do?

    In the first place, simply copy the PDM. The index file will be recreated when the file is accessed. What is lost when the index file is not copied, therefore the time required to create the index file by scanning once the PDM file.

    I hope this helps a little

  • TDMS open, FALSE to create an index file bug?

    Hello

    I have the version of LabView 2013 Pro. I (would) like the new feature to choose to not create index file when you open a new TDMs file for data logging.

    However, even if I wire a constant TAMPERING to the Terminal "create index file?", when my farm asks the PDM file after recording data, an index file is created.

    I correctly write data and close the file in the end...

    Is this a bug?

    You can try to reproduce it?

    Thank you!

    Hi man,

    According to you the description that the index file is created when you stop recording of data. If your machine is running the DataFinder (it's a service installed by DIAdem), the DataFinder will start indexing the TDMS files when the TDMS file is closed. If LabVIEW does not create the index TDMS during the recording of data file, but the DataFinder indexing service creates him index file TDMS when process data recording stops.

    So if you have the DataFinder running on your computer, please, try to turn off the service of indexation of DataFinder icon in the system tray.

    Kind regards
