CHKDSK is stuck at 58 percent

I use a HP Pavilion on WIndows Vista. My system is about 3 years old now, and I got these problems starting a few months ago...

I had this frustrating problem for a while. This is what is happening.

  • I start my system, loads of all good.
  • After that he told me that I need to check my drive for consistency.
  • I let the command CHKDSK.
  • Everything goes well until he goes to:

CHKDSK checks the indexes (stage 2 of 3)

Deleting entry index RE03F9 ~ 1 in index file 6130 $I30
58 percent. 2625956 of 2709302 index entries processed
  • And it stops there. The many times where I tried checking the disc, he has always immobilize to some 50%.
I tried to run the command prompt, but I don't know how to use it. When I go to "Run" and type CHKDSK, a black window (Command Prompt) appears quickly and closes. The only way that around it, I got is cancelling the disk check (by pressing a button until the countdown reaches zero). I have tried rebooting, but nothing seems to work!

Someone knows how to fix this? Is there something I can do?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's the only way you can make it work in mode 'repair' on your boot partition. So run CHKDSK at the next restart of the PC.

And keep in mind that it can take a very long time, so be patient.

To know how it works.

  • CHKDSK is stuck in step 4 of 5 since last night (around 20 hours) what can I do?

So, recently, I had problems with the computer is slow and what not, I thought that it was a virus or malware, so I ran several antivirus/malware scans and they found nothing. I'm fairly certain that's not any virus or malware/adware/etc.

Then, my computer bluescreened... I managed to use the system recovery to be able to start up again, even if she continues slowly. I checked the event log and saw that this is very likely defective on my hard drive. Then, I ran chkdsk to fix if all goes well, and so far it seemed to go well. CHKDSK went through steps 1-3 in all 20 minutes, removing corrupted files or the index entries, then recovering files and other things. Then he got to step 4 of 5, where he says he checks the file data... This part was considerably slower, but I don't think anything of it... It seemed that it worked well, so I thought it was good. He replaced bad clusters in a couple of files and continued until it takes... "12% percent complete.  (86522 474032 processed files) "now he has been stuck there for nearly 24 hours." I'm afraid to stop the computer, manually because I don't know if that will cause more permanent damage.

What should I do? Help, please! I have Windows Vista 64-bit, fully implemented to date.
P.S. I saw this post http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-performance/please-help-chkdsk-stuck-in-stage-4-of-5-at-6-for/88cd9d55-d457-49a1-a299-50941a678d15 and I seem to have the same problem. Unfortunately, this message has not responded, and I can't find an answer to this problem. (Same as this poster, I too hear the computer that runs always, so it scares me to turn it off while chkdsk is running)

Two choices. Wait or force close.

You can try to quit smoking first of all the process in the Task Manager, but I suspect it will take a forced shutdown

Please answer with repair options and details on where to go to get there.

If safe mode can't complete, it can be continuous malware (run malwarebytes) so clean, you will probably have to run a repair installation.

Please download the free version of Malwarebytes.
    Update immediately.
Do a full scan of the system

  • How can I fix the program with the update of creative cloud stuck at zero percent?

My program administrative creative cloud on my PC is stuck at 0%. I am using the latest version for Windows 10 and my other apps work with adobe (dreamweaver, Permira), but I tried to get captivate and now can't because the administration of cloud is updated and has been for 6 hours and the percentage remained at 0%.

In addition to the response above, you can also try to uninstall and reinstall the application:

Please remove Creative Cloud app and Adobe Application manager using the-

  • Try to install the apps CC, progress bar stuck

I spent most of my day trying to get the Cloud Creative desktop application installed (I had now create a new user on my computer that has apparently fixed that), and when I tried to install hearing as a test, the progress bar is stuck at 40%. Since he was going nowhere, I tried to cancel it, but it got stuck on the cancellation for centuries. So what I did close the app, put an end to all Adobe processes and open Office CC again. He crashed twice, and then I tried to run as an administrator. It is now running, but my download of hearing is now stuck at 11 percent without obvious reason.

Anyone had similar problems? Is it possible to fix it? (I tried to delete the adobe files in %AppData%).

This is a 64-bit computer if running on what should be fully updated Windows 7 with 8 GB of RAM and an i5 4670K.

Well for some reason, it now works perfectly and everything is installed, I don't know what was going on.

  • Satellite A40 HDD Possible fault... ?

    Hello

At the end of December, I had to return my A40 Toshiba for a new hard drive because it was not completely.

It is now March and I'm getting the same problems once again, I went to open Miscrsoft Outlook yesterday and the whole machine simply locked with the drive hard light is constantly on, but no movement.

When I restarted the machine, it simply froze on the windows xp logo, which is the beginning of my problems with the previous hard disk. I have a backup of the drive and think it might be windows currupt I resinstalled the backup but the same problem has started to emerge again, and I know that it was a 'good' backup image.

I tried running scandisk but it is stuck at 9 percent and crashes, I tried a complete reformat of the disc using and windows xp insall cd but this happens at 8 percent and crashes.

I'm just witing for this rattling noise the last drive makes when it is finally gone completely.

This sounds like a hard drive problem...? and should I be contacting support I have the additional guarantee of 2 years on this subject. Don't want to be told it's a software problem and I am sure that it is not.

    Concerning

    Hello

This could be a beginning of the end.
You should always make a backup of your files, because the HARD disk may crash every time.

  • M6 Pavilion: HP Pavilion m6 Factory Image recovery fails

The hard drive has failed, so I bought a new hybrid 500 GB drive. A directed recovery disks from HP and have tried running the setup of recovery, but the process remains still stuck at 23 percent of "copy of the files needed to restore the hard disk.

I tried to reinstall about 10 times and it always gets stuck at the same stadium at 23%, and the audible DVD drive slows down or stops playback. After a few hours, it shows the message:

    Copy the file fails

    To C:\RM\Image\BASE2. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT

    Any help would be great

Well, I found a solution. In fact I found it weeks and there has been a lot of work.

First I asked myself, ' why is it I NEED to have a hard drive that is the same size as before or more? Well, the answer is quite simple: the only choice of HP is given to me is not to get the file .iso Windows but to get an image of Windows 7 that HP has changed with some soft/bloatware, they want to bundle with it.

Despite what says the support agent, it has no technical reason, why I can't use a smaller hard drive. The comparison of the hard drive for car engines is, frankly, ridiculous. The more appropriate analogy for the hard drive would be the gas tank and the processor is the engine. A car with a 15 gallon gas tank will operate as one with a tank of gas of 20 gallons, in the same way as a computer with a 750 GB HARD drive will work with a 500 GB HARD drive. Of course, in both cases, you won't get as much with the smaller model, but it will certainly run. In other words, unless you provide an imager that will fail if it cannot write all the 1 and 0 hard disk he wants, much as do gas pump just insert their 20-gallon fuel tank. So I said screw this dictation arbitrarily bullcrap to me what type of replacement hardware, I buy in order to use MY laptop.

Now, once I decided that these hoops with, HP and Microsoft, Setup for me to jump through is silly, I decided to make friends with a Penguin that I knew, but never talked to: Linux. This being my first time using Linux quickly led me to the selection of Ubuntu. He was surprisingly simple and easy to install. Now, most people could not understand how to do a Setup for an operating system disk, but if you know the difference between writing MP3 files on a disc and write a CD that can be used in a normal CD player, it's fine. Then, I used my wife's office to burn an installation disc, put inside and Ubuntu with happiness and flawless, himself installed on my laptop. He was ready to go with the pre-installed drivers and download the new drivers as needed during the installation after entering my password for Wi - Fi.

Things were going well, but I'm not a computer programmer or work in it and I expect a steep learning curve. Well, boy was I wrong on that assumption. Almost everything I want immediately to use is already installed. Not only that, but it is much much faster he was when he was running Windows. The only part that took a little effort to make it work was to steam, but there are step by step guides that appeared just to look for "Steam Linux Installation." For my daily (read: Netflix, web browsing, even games) it works fine. It's a little tricky with the mouse pad, but I usually use a mouse in any case. Overall, I was very happy with it.

    Summary:

Because Microsoft won't distribute the .iso files directly and HP insists that give you a picture of your laptop particular there is now a user of Linux more and a less Windows user. Honestly, why they do not just offer to send a picture of a laptop, they sold with a hard drive more small is beyond me (I know, legal shenaningans). So, thank you HP and Microsoft to encourage me to learn something else and get away from buying your products. I appreciate it.

  • Aspire driver V3 - 772 G Windows 8.1 USB 3.0 problem

    Hi all

    I bought my V3 - 772G 1 months ago about.

Yesterday everything worked well and today, I noticed that none of the 4 USB ports were working (laptop was suspended since yesterday)

No USB not connected, nothing. Key/mouse USB/hard drives /... does not work.

I noticed that in Device Manager, I had problems with the ' USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver "that the driver was not loaded. I've seen people online saying to uninstall and restart the computer. That and once again no operation USB, Device Manager, the device with problems was now "Compliant Host Controller xHCI USB".

I tried WITHOUT success to the following:

-Downloaded ' USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver "Intel has failed (available only for W7) - Web site

    -Restart windows full - same

-Disconnecting the battery and power for a few minutes, restarted - even

-Remove all USB devices (hubs and so forth), restarted - even

-Uninstalled all updates of 2 days before (to the point that I know that it worked) - pilot months before change - same result dates

-Tried to search the BIOS to disable USB3.0 and put 2.0 - not found

-Tried to get back to another restore - point na not work, complained that the disc is maybe damaged

-Widnows run chkdsk/r several times - no error found - nothing resolved

-Run chkdsk/r - stuck at 16%, but I guess that needs all night (TODO) - solved anything

-Tried to do a repair without losing files (using recovery partitions) - always guess how

Any idea or any help? They just stop working. I plug laptop already with windows 8.1 and they worked for 1 month

    Thank you

    -UPDATE1-

I used the command-line (via recovery windows at startup) and copied all the files from backup drive (I assume) X:\Windows\System32\Drivers\usb* on the local drive C:\Windows\System32\Drivers

    Rebooted - still nothing

    [Solved]

    Here's what you can try:

    (1) ensure that the ntbtlog.txt file located in C:\Windows it is removed (to clean the logs)

    (2) to activate the startup log check which driver loading fails:

    Option A:

    (1) open administrator command prompt

    (2) write "bcdedit/set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy" to allow the start of legacy with F8 (don't forget to change the settings after this guide)

    (3) reboot and press F8

    (4) select this option to start with active log

    Option B:

    1) press "WIN + R" and write "msconfig".

    (2) in the Startup tab, select the option "Startup journal."

    (3) to apply the changes and reboot (remember to change the settings after this guide)

    (3) check the drivers failed in the log (C:\Windows\ntbtlog.txt) file (in my case I got "ucx01000.sys" driver failure)

    (4) after researching online (Source) I saw the USB3.0 stack consists of 3 files of accommodation with the xHCI Host Controller: Usbhub3.sys, Ucx01000.sys and Usbxhci.sys.

    (5) restart the laptop and press 'ALT + F10' to enter in the menu ACER recovery

    (6) select "Troubleshooting", then "Advanced Options", then "Command Prompt"

    (7) you will be located in the "X:" drive and the folder "system32" of the recovery unit

    (8) write "cd drivers.

    (9) "copy write Usbhub3.sys C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\" (if you are asked to overwrite, answer "Yes")

    (10) "copy write Ucx01000.sys C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\" (if you are asked to overwrite, answer "Yes")

    (11) writing "copy Usbxhci.sys C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\" (if you are asked to overwrite, answer 'Yes')

    (12) write 'exit '.

    (13) restart your laptop, and you should be able to use USB again

    (14) disable the startup option if you used Option B.

In my case, the "Ucx01000.sys" file was missing in the drivers folder.

  • Pavilion 15 p 146: HP Pavilion notebook - failure of power supply or a laptop?

My Pavilion laptop is 4 weeks old. This morning, it worked, but I noticed that it doesn't seem to be load - the remaining battery indicator was stuck at 11 percent and there was no indication that he was in charge. Finally the laptop has stopped working.

Now I am unable to return to power.

I tried to remove the battery completely and using alternating current only, but it will not turn on. When the AC is attached no lights don't appear next to the power socket. However if I press and hold the power button, the LED next to the power jack on the laptop flashes 3 times. Release the power button then hold again produced the same results - the LED flashes 3 times.

Note that if I turn off the AC altogether the does not blink at all, which suggest that some powers gets through.

How can I determine if the problem is with the AC adapter and not an internal problem with the laptop?

    Thank you

When an AC adapter is plugged in and OK it will be a weirdo directed. If the power led does not illuminate, then this is a diagnosis that lets you know that it doesn't have the power adapter.

The power adapter is a unit that can be replaced under warranty without charge to you.

    Contact HP for warranty repair.

  • Need to convert vmdk using pRDM vmkfstools command

Need to convert to pRDM vmdk format command. tried to convert using cold migration that it stuck at 23 percent. Are there vmkfstools or powercli to convert?

You can try the host command line is:

    vmkfstools -i /vmfs/volumes/source-ds/source-vm/source.vmdk/vmfs/volumes/target-ds/target-vm/target. VMDK

You can optionally add thin d in case you want to that thin target to be configured.

What you need to do - before running the command - is to ensure that the size of the disk in the hard file corresponds to the actual size of the LUN in case the LUN has been resized / increased at some point.
