Cisco ASR1002 - 5 G/K9 - 8-port SFP MGBSX1

Hi guys,.

I am trying to improve the telephone network switched on a customer site. My goal is to install a router in order to split the telephone dial in 7 broadcast domains.

So far, they have used a very old Catalyst 4000 switch as main switch to interconnect the 7 offices and many 3500 series access switches.

I found the ASR1002 Router - 5 G/K9 which seems to me a good deal. At a first sight, it seems just need to buy a plug-in that supports additional SFP 4 and nothing more. The connector SFP, I need is MGBSX1.

Could be he you guys please let me know if I can be wrong and if you know better solutions? The budget is limited to 10 M $ to $12 K.

Thank you very much

Dario

Hi Darren,

Thanks for your answer. I don't need any NAT or routing protocol because all I have to connect is in terms of routers are just that device and the Telco Router. Do you already know the code of the module I have to add on the 3750X?

Dario

You don't need to add * any * modules to 3750 X - model I quoted has 12 ports SFP - you just plug the appropriate FPS.

If your links are copper (I.E. not long range), then you can even cheaper do - buy a WS-C3750X-24 t - S - 24 copper gigabit ports - much to segment your network based on.

If you need uplinks of fiber, then the first switch on WS - C3750X - 12 s-S - will give you 12 ports SFP based - but without knowing what kind (and distance) of fibre you need / have, I won't recommend fiber SFP.

See you soon.

  • Trouble connecting Netgear XS748T to Ubiquiti UniFi US-48-750W via Port SFP +.

We bought a new switch Netgear XS748T and try connecting to our existing network which consists of several switches of Ubiquiti UniFi US-48-750W, and we try to connect using the SFP + 10 GB ports on the two switches. We have a Direct Link SFP + SFP + DAC, passive, 1 m, cable AWG30, we bought at Amazon / 10Gtek and when we try to use this cable between the Ubiquiti switch and the Netgear we get no link activity.

However if we use the same cable between two of Ubiquiti switches it lights immediately and works very well, the same is true if we use the same SFP + cable between the switch Netgear XS748T and a XS728T that we must also. Its almost as if the switches detect the same manufacturer at the other end and right link up but when its manufacturer another pass on the other end, it does nothing.

It is very aggravating, and Im going to be obliged to return the new Netgear switches. Can someone make a suggestion or confirm if they should or may not work? Everything simply connecting switches together using a cable of copper works very well but since our current switches don't support 1 GB via copper it provides not enough bandwidth for our use so we really need the port SFP + 10 GB to give us the uplink.

Here is a link to the modules SFP + cable, we bought:

    https://www.Amazon.com/DP/B01LSGGUOY/ref=twister_B01M0ER4M0?_encoding=UTF8&PSC=1

It seems that I solved the problem myself. I bought a set of:
    10Gtek for Cisco SFP - 10 G - LR, 10 Gb/s Transceiver SFP + module 1310nm 10km

And the LR version worked instantly. I honestly don't know what's the difference between a SFP + SR module and a module LR SFP +, but for some reason any LR module has allowed these two switches to connect.

Here are links to the modules and the cable used in case anyone needs a solution to this:

  • Port 20Gbit-channels using ports sfp +.

    Hello

I hope to implement a cost affective solution who can use ports for uplinks on the X 2960 & switch series XR and where appropriate to the top/downlink modules for X 3750 series switch

If someone knows if it is possible to group ports sfp + 10 GB in a channel port 20gbit?

Whoever did this or they could point me in the right direction for documentation?

    Thank you

    Hello

Yes, it can group several ports 10Gig on all these devices as long as you have the appropriate modules.  2960 X supports up to 24 Etherchannels and the XR up to 48.

If you are uplnking the 2960 3750-X series, you need a 10Gig for X-3750 series module.

  • How to access the CLI Mode in cisco sf 302 - 08 p 8-port 10/100 Managed switch

    Hello

Can someone help me on how to access the CLI mode in cisco sf 302 - 08 p 8-port 10/100 Managed switch. I treid the each method they mentioned in the administration guide. I am not able to enter the command debug mode and comand menu after resetting the default password. Once connected, sound directly to guide me to switch main menu.

    Hello FAL, Mark,.

Thank you for your participation in the community of support to small businesses. My name is Nico Muselle of Cisco Sofia HWC.

To access the CLI, you must make sure that the version of the firmware on your switch is at least 1.1.0.73 or preferably higher. Then activate telnet or ssh on the switch and opening of these sessions or a console session you will see that you are in CLI mode. You can return to the console to function menu using the menucommand.

I hope that answers your questions!

  • The Cisco C-460 M2 10Gbase-T ports - they can work 1 Gbit/s?

    Hello

I work with a client with a Cisco C - 460 M2 with VMware ESXi 5.0u1 scheduled for installation.  This server has two ports of 10Gbase-T LOM. They can run at 1 Gbps?  I ask b/c, the customer doesn't have a switch in their DC 10 Gbps, and we would like to launch 4x1Gbps (LOM two 1 Gbit/s, as well as the LOM two 10 Gbps @ 1 Gbps).

In my view, that this map is based on the Broadcom 57711.  Most of the information I've seen on this map use SFP +, not 10Gbase-T, so it is unclear if it is backwards compatible.

  • PowerConnect 2824 Ports SFP does not

We bought a new switch 2824 with a corresponding to SFP module replace old 2724 PowerConnect and SFP module.

After the configuration of the switch and installing it, we were able to get a connection on our uplinked to fiber.
SFP light illuminates and flashes from time to time, and the switch detects correctly module SFP is inserted and that the fiber is connected.  We can see the insertion of the SFP is detected and the switch for change of fiber mode by looking at the output of the console, and the web administration port status page lists the port as "ComboF" when the SFP is inserted and the fiber is connected.

However, the switch always indicates that the port State is down.  (The port is not administratively disabled.)

The old switch works very well with the old SFP module.  The new switch does not work with the old or the new module SFP.  We tried two combo SFP ports.  We also checked that the fiber itself is fine. We cannot get the new switch to display the drop-down list port status that up when you use the SFP. We tried to completely reset the new switch by removing the configuration file via the boot over the serial connection menu and re-run the initial configuration wizard, but the port still won't go up.

    Any ideas?

After a few tests yesterday, we determined that part of auto-negotiation must be disabled for switch work with our copper and fiber Media converters.

The 2724 works very well with our media converters, with auto-negotiation enabled.

The 2824 works very well with auto-negotiation enabled when it is connected to an another SFP transceiver in building switch.

But when we introduce the Media Converter in the path, the 2824 will bring only the link up if you disable auto-negotiation.

    So far, everything looks good.

  • Cisco Pix Firewall SSH listening on port 2022

    Hello

Is it possible to tell the pix to listen on port 2022 for ssh?

    My ISP blocked port 22

    Kind regards

    Edwin Gerritsen

Well thought out but unfortunately, that this will not work. The only way we could do something like this would be to use a device (such as a router IOS) upstream to the port translation (similar to the idea above). Hit the device on port 2022 upstream and have this device translated the port of destination to 22 and send it down to the PIX.

There is no mechanism to change the listening port for SSH on the PIX.

  • ASR9001 SFP + port 2 and port 3 disabled auto

    Hello

    Everyone has the same problems?

We have an ASR9001, when we test the port SFP +, after several days of market, the port SFP + 2 and port3 off yourself.

The port is disabled only, but not err - disable.

We can use command 'stop' and 'no stopping' for the recovery of these two ports.

The fault happened several times and we do not know how to solve.

    Everyone knows the reason?

    Hi David,

If you use ASR 9001 - S SFP and SFP + 2 and 3 are disabled by default. You can enable with a license.

If you use ASR 9001, you hit the following bug: CSCug60558 - fix for ASR9001 port flap problem

Which resembles the daughterboard X 520/I350 network. You have only a NDC slot in the system, only one of those can take place. I do not show a similar adapter PCIe version.

If you have 2 PCIe 3 slot CPU configuration while you might add just another X 520 dual port. If you have a PCIe 2 connector configuration so I am not all ports that you are wanting to get a valid population.

  • PowerConnect 6224: Dell SFP + port supports combine Dell SFP?

I have a Dell Powerconnect 6224 switch and I installed a Dual Port SFP + Module of adaptation for PowerConnect
6200 series at bay2 at the rear of the switch. I inserted a transceiver, SFP 1000BASE-LX, wavelength 1310nm 10km Reach in the SFP slot + and the other end is connected to a connector SFP 1gbe. I don't have any link. My question is if Dell SFP ports + supports SFP transceivers or it only supports SFP transceivers +?

I checked the ports to help an SFP + SFP +, 10GbE, copper Direct Attach cable Twinaxial, and link LEDs are lighting up.

I believe that the SFP ports + back work with SFP transceivers. Ports before combo will work with SFP transceivers. Another thing to look at is the cable being used. Don't forget that there are specifications that are compatible with transceivers FPS are you wanting to use. A SFP + SFP connection would require that the SFP transceiver + supports a connection of 1 GB.

    Hope this info helps.

  • How to use Layer 2 Ports on the Cisco 1841 router switch

    Hello

I use the Cisco 1841 router with a single port layer 3 Fe0 and 8 Ports switched.

I gave the IP on the Fe0 port which is connected to another router.

Now I don't know how to use Layer 2 of the router switch ports.

I tried to make one of the port as a Port of access by switchport mode access and connected my laptop and the same subnet given IP, but I can't ping my Fe0 IP port and vice versa, as I am also unable to ping my laptop router.

Can someone explain to me how to use these ports on layer 2?

I have 4 ports SFP + Module switch M8024-K. I want to establish connectivity 10Gig between M8024-k and Cisco WS-C2960S-24TD-L switch. I'm not able to find the exact Dell transmitter/receiver part number required for 4-port SFP + Module and cord Patch LC - LC-OFC required dell. I have no problem with Cisco parts.

    Kindly suggest exact reference numbers.

This transceiver is listed on the list of compatibility of the server but not the switch. It can work in the switch, but I can't confirm that it will be because he is not on the compatibility list.
