  It could be that an add-on is causing this problem. First, click on the Firefox button > help > restart with disabled modules. If this solves the problem, it means one of your Add - ons is the cause.   The glass is transparent?  Usually, transparent glass will leave the 'light' mouse / "laser" to get completely through.  It is not reflected back to the sensor so that the mouse / pilots cannot see that it has been moved.  You may need a mouse pad.  As test, place a single sheet of paper and try the mouse.  If the mouse seems to work, then you will need the key.

  As I know it is not necessary to install a driver for external USB mouse and mouse is usually recognized automatically. Please check if a driver installation is needed, and even request delivered must be preinstalled.
