Client Windows 7 Professional DNS fails to resolve the name - when connectin to a Windows Server 2003
A professional Windows 7 workstation is unable to resolve the name when connecting to a Windows Server 2003 server.
I ran the Portqry tool and discovered a problem with the Port 53 and open this Port in the Windows Firewall on the client and Windows Server 2003. However, it may not always resolve the name and I can't get the Windows 7 workstation to join the domain.
Our DNS server is at the ISP, but enabled DNS on Windows Server 2003. I can ping the IP address of the server from the Windows 7 client
nslookup is solved using the FULL domain name.
Any ideas on other settings, I need change and port that I need to open to allow?
Thank you.

Stevens,
Is there a way where I could change the port from 1524 to 1521.Please EM12C let me know.
Thank you!
As it was already told, databases use ports. The listener did. The release of "lsnrctl status" you showed us presents a listener who is ONLY listening on port 1521 and database EM12C is registered with the listener. In addition, we know that EM12C was able to dynamically register with this listener, because his status is listed as LOAN. A static record (in the section SID_LIST listener.ora) would show as UNKNOWN.
So if you want to connect to EM12C via a network connection (even if the same machine) you would specify (in tnsnames) be directed to connect to the PORT = 1521.
I don't know how you configure client connection requests in WebLogic. It is a problem of the customer.

updates - updates has not pushed to remote clients (Windows Server 2003)
original title: critical updates
Hello
I have an Windows Server 2003 with Windows XP Pro SP3 clients/members area and allows you to push critical updates for WSUS clients.
However, updates are not pushed to the remote clients even with the connected VPN tunnel. The only time updates are pushed to these remote clients is when they visit the office and connect to our LAN.
Is there a way for remote clients to get their updates without having to remove them as a member of my domain?
Thank you...

Vista fails to resolve the name of Server 2003 on a domain
I have several computers and two servers configured as a domain.
Server1 - Server 2008: domain controller, print server
Server2 - Server 2003: Server terminal server, file server
V1 - V10 - Vista desktop computers
Recently an office has been infected with a virus. I clean with AVG Live CD and then with Avira. At the moment, it seems that the virus has disappeared completely.
As meeting the office in question cannot resolve the name NetBIOS of Server2, but find other machines on the network very well. I placed the entries in the file hosts and lmhosts with no effect. Connection via the address IP of Server2 works well though, so it doesn't seem to be a permission problem.
We know troubleshooting step by step for such a question?

Hi Srini,
The problem is resolved. Thanks for your reply.
The question is, is Windows server 2003 32-bit, and I try to install database 11g 64 bit. I tried to install database 11g 32-bit. Before that, I erased the traces of the virtual machine in my host system and reinstalled and tried. It worked.
Thank you
Sunil

We have already installed additional domain controllers to replicate with the PDC, but after that the Principal domain controller only not the system slows down and you get it working again. What is the fastest way to recover all the information that was in the CDP. Is there a way to retrieve all the information stored in the PDC without having to reinstall everything again.

Failed to connect to database (Tuxedo 8.1 - Windows Server 2003)
Hello
We currently use Tuxedo 8.1 with Oracle 9.2.0.1 on Windows Server 2003 database. An observation we noted is that, when we have a database problem that requires to restart the database, Tuxedo fails to re-establish the connection to the database.
So that Tuxedo to use the Oracle database, we use the XA Tuxedo Resource Manager to initialize the DB connection. Everything works well until it occurs a question unrelated to the DB, which requires a reboot. When this is done, we start getting the following errors in the ULOG:
... [TR_43861] The database error: 60000: ORA-00376: 3 file cannot be read right now
... [TR_41] The database error:-1: ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE query: ROLLBACK.
... The database error: 63000: ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE query:.
... The database error:-1: ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE query: ROLLBACK.
... The database error: 63000: ORA-03113: end of file on the channel of communication Query
At this point we also then restart the services of Tuxedo for Tuxedo to speak again of the Oracle database.
Is this a known issue with this particular version of the Tuxedo/XA Resource Manager?
Is anyway we can solve this, without having to restart the Tuxedo when this happens (for example say Manager XA resources for re - initialize the new DB connections)?
Kind regards
AsimAsim,
We have many customers using Tuxedo with Oracle Database and Tuxedo should be able to restore the connection with the Oracle database if it breaks down and comes back upward. However, the service that was running at the time where the database is down will be CNET. This service should call tpreturn() with TPFAIL when a SQL error occurs. Tuxedo will attempt to restore the connection with Oracle when a new service request is processed.
In addition, Tuxedo only tries to restore the connection with Oracle, if the application is configured to use XA with an appropriate OPENINFO and the TMSNAME parameter string in the * GROUPS section of the UBBCONFIG file. (If these settings are not configured, then it is the application for managing connections to the database.)
If you
Export TMTRACE = xa:ulog:dye
in your environment, then a XA record all calls made by Tuxedo will be written to the ULOG.Oracle database you messages posted are not the ones I've seen before. These messages are written on the userlog by your application, not Tuxedo. You can send your query to a forum for Oracle database where you may be able to get a better explanation on the meaning of messages such as "database error [TR_43861]: 60000: ORA-00376: 3 file cannot be read right now."
Kind regards

I recently reinstalled one of our Terminal Server Windows Server 2003 (64-bit) servers.
When you connect via RDP, I get 2 mouse pointers. One seems to be the pointer to the session that changes of hourglass, etc... and the pointer remains under the arrow.I have all the updates that are installed.
There is no options on the RDP settings like what I use on other RDP to the other Terminal server sessions and is not on any other I RDP server on my client.I connected as other RDP clients and get with the same problem, is not a customer number
Is there a setting on the server to disable this option? How can I remove the pointer that does not change in the session?

Windows Server 2003 - Error Codes: 0X800706BE & 0X800706BA
I have a server with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition custom which is made of multiple system errors of Windows Update Agent with ID 20.
Here are some examples:
Installation failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800706be: update Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x 86 (KB982168).
Installation failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800706ba: Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB979683).
In addition, there are 20 twenty updates that produce the total failure of the installation with the 0x800706ba error. The first installation of .NET framework 3.5 SP1 error is the only one with error 0x800706be.
To resolve this problem, I did the following:
Stop the automatic updates service, renamed Software Distribution files in C:\WINDOWS and C:\WINDOWS\system32, and then restarted again the automatic updates service.
The same problem occurred (updates will download, but not with the error ID 20 system event) and so I did the same steps again and also reinstated the SOOPER services:
1. run "gpupdate/force".
2. run "/detectnow wuauclt.
And once again, downloaded updates, but not settle and the recorded errors.
What else can I try to get these updates installed?
If the computer, in fact, update through Windows Update, post it here instead: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserversecurity/threads
If, however, it updates via WSUS, post here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverwsus/threads

Hi all
Once the converter VMware-converter-en - 5.5.1 - 1682692 does not work, with a touch of friend uninstall the 5.5 version of Converter Standalone Client, look for the VMware converter version - 4.0.0 - 146302 and install this version to the other machine. No not that I had to be Converter, but the windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
After this race, the Standalone Client 4.4 Converter and everything work fine.
Now I have the P2V converted and good machine, as was the real operation!
I thank all of you.
